You can just say 'my husband' or 'my daughter', you know, instead of bloody 'DH' or 'DD'. WE WILL STILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND YOU!

How refreshing would it be, just for once, to see someone here state 'my husband' instead of their 'DH'?!

It's such a sappy wet-lettuce thing to say anyway, plus half the bloody time there are threads about how someone's 'darling' husband has been found to be texting some other woman/cam girl/sex worker, etc

It's as though people here think nobody will be able to understand them unless they preface the person they're talking about with 'darling'. WHY?!

WHEN WILL WE STOP THE TWATTERY?

OP posts:
HollowTalk · 01/04/2021 18:40

BF should be boyfriend and F should be Friend.

Doris86 · 01/04/2021 18:40

@HollowTalk

H Husband W Wife P Partner XP or XH or XW - self explanatory C Child (if you want to be non-specific) S Son D Daughter M Mum D Dad F Friend

Is there any reason why we don't just use the above?

So if someone says D does it mean Dad or Daughter?!
HollowTalk · 01/04/2021 18:41

And C then should be children, whereas D or S would be daughter or son.

@LizzieVereker

I’ve been here a long time, I like the acronyms, they make me smile and make me feel part of the tribe. I’m lonely in real life. Sorry if the acronyms annoy you.

Yes! There have been threads where I've been unable understand what the bloody hell they're on about and who's who because of all the bloods DH's DS's etc etc and the flirting between them all!

CodMouth · 01/04/2021 18:42

Even my dh knows what dh is and he doesn’t read mn.

Take a cp op.

LadyCatStark · 01/04/2021 18:43

It’s been around forever, you won’t stop it now. I did roll my eyes at drabbit the other day though especially as I initially read it as it was written and wondered what a drabbit was!

pictish · 01/04/2021 18:44

Can we? Dh is shorter. But thanks.

Bluebird2021 · 01/04/2021 18:44

OP your username has 'meh' in it....i mean, whats that all about? can't you just type what you mean instead of using that?

pictish · 01/04/2021 18:46

Can ‘meh’ have bells on?

littlepattilou · 01/04/2021 18:48

You won't be lonely here! We're here to listen, and talk. Smile

Ilovemaisie · 01/04/2021 18:49

'meh' means 'meh'.
I think Lisa Simpson invented it. But I might be wrong.

littlepattilou · 01/04/2021 18:49

@LucieStar

What really REALLY boils my piss though (as a number of posters have mentioned... ) is DCAT! .... and DDOG! D- FUCKING - CAT and D - FUCKING DOG!!! That's a whole new level of batshittery. Just put cat or dog you fucking weirdo!

Ahh I'm not alone then. Grin

Nope, not just you. Grin
littlepattilou · 01/04/2021 18:52

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

I’d rather see the back of ‘wow. just wow’

Which is mumsnet shorthand for I’ve taken such a fuckin huge outraged intake of breath that my drawers have been sooked up my arse at the speed of sound. They then hit my throat that quick that they shook my pearls off their string.

Catsarse mouth optional (but would be handy if only to stop said drawers shooting out their mouth and strikinga passer by)

And breathe Grin

'Wow just wow' really fucks me off too. It needs putting in the bin along with 'are you on glue?' and the ever-vile and massively offensive 'you sound unhinged.' That is basically saying someone sounds mentally ill/mentally unstable/not right in the head. That is one of the nastiest things people say on here.
roguetomato · 01/04/2021 18:52

I use it because it's way easier and quicker. Some people don't use it and that's up to them. It's nothing important, imo.

pictish · 01/04/2021 18:52

I mean, I wouldn’t cry if we stopped using the acronyms or anything...but they’re so innate to forum speak now, no one attaches any dear sentiment to them...so they don’t matter. They’re simply shorter to type. It’s practical.

Ilovemaisie · 01/04/2021 18:53

"meh"

LucieStar · 01/04/2021 18:53

@Witchymclovely

🤣total twattery. But for gods sake never use BM on the step parenting board!!!!! They will hunt you down in numbers! I like the chase personally so I do it on purpose Grin
Grin so true! Don't ever say BM!! You might as well say "twat mother". I feel that would be less offensive to some than BM. 😂
BigPaperBag · 01/04/2021 18:54

It’s a shorthand thing on the internet. Why don’t you type your thing @MehWithBellsOn and everyone else can type whatever they want?

DrManhattan · 01/04/2021 18:55

FFS or for fucks sake (if you prefer)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 01/04/2021 18:55

FGS, it’s just a handy abbreviation.
Do you type ‘et cetera’ instead of ‘etc.’?

Thought not.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 01/04/2021 18:56

Indeed @littlepattilou

Not to mention the obligatory ‘is that you Piers/Meghan/Boris/Gwynneth/auntyJane’ Whenever a differing opinion to the masses is posted.

No. No it isn’t.

pictish · 01/04/2021 18:57

But see...meh by its definition is resolutely without bells.
Meh with bells on...it’s an oxymoron.

MLMsuperfan · 01/04/2021 18:57

I agree OP.

slashlover · 01/04/2021 18:58

So if someone says D does it mean Dad or Daughter?!

It gets worse when DF is used for father, friend and fiance.

I remember reading a long post and halfway through they talked about their sex life with their DF and it took me a moment to realise it WASN'T their father they were discussing.
