To be fuming (maternity leave related)

I have an 8 day old baby who is (understandably) waking every 2 hours or more during the night for cuddles, milk etc etc.

We are bottle feeding him and my husband has two weeks paternity leave, followed by two weeks annual leave.

Not once in the last week has he offered to do a night feed. I'm exhausted. He rolls the other way and goes back to sleep while I sit for up to two hours trying to get baby back to sleep.

I raised it and he replied "well what are you going to do when I go back to work and can't do night feeds?" as if he's doing me a favour by leaving me to it!! He also said "do you want me to sit awake and watch you feed him?"

I'm infuriated!!!!!!!!

We had a rota. My DH is somewhat lazy but responds well to a rota.

I do get sick of making sure things are fair-ish. I have needed to be very assertive and at times, to be equally selfish.

Good luck, OP.

Got to admit, I did all the night feeds and preparation of bottles when on maternity leave (years ago) but I do remember DH pulling his weight in other ways - shopping, hoovering, sorting rubbish, ironing etc :D
It's a balance. Split the jobs and work out what you are both going to do.

Hope it lasts for you too op. Shouldn't have needed you having a rant at him though. I think you'll probably need to keep a close eye and ensure he doesn't slip back into lazy habits.

This is good OP.
The truth is your marriage is unlikely to survive if he doesn't.

Don't get pregnant.
Sort your contraception.
