To think DS13 is lying about having sex?

Triskelis238 · 29/03/2021 11:38

DS13 used my laptop earlier as his phone was dead. When I used it later, a private message notification popped up saying "woah I can't believe you lost your v card". I clicked on it and saw it was a chat he had going with his mates where he was bragging about having lost his virginity at a party at the weekend. A party that DH and I were at, along with the rest of his siblings. Initially I was horrified, he's 13! But having thought some more, I genuinely can't see how he could have? There were families everywhere, kids running about, it was hardly a rave. Unless he sneaked off for a bit? I admit there were periods where I didn't see him, so it's not beyond the realm of possibility. My question now is, do I ignore it as its obviously bs to look cool, or do I sit him down and have a chat? And if he is telling the truth, what on earth do I do??

Not in the uk, so no covid lockdown rules.

What a weird response SpringTimeDream, it’s clear the the OP’s DS is boasting about it else why would he be telling his friends in such a way? Therefore, it’s because he thinks it sounds cool. Not that I think it sounds cool Hmm

Mellonsprite · 29/03/2021 12:55

It’s probably BS to impress his mates, but not completely outside the realms of possibility.
You do need to talk about it to him though.

Hankunamatata · 29/03/2021 12:59

I'd be more worried that girls at party were 11 and under. You def need to have a chat even if you think its crap

5zeds · 29/03/2021 13:00

Ask him if he used a condom. If not I’d contact the girl. Take him for an std check. Remove his tech if he’s going to use it to brag about sex. Contact school and ask for support. I’m not sure why you are assuming he hasn’t had sex with an eleven year old if it happened at the party.

It sounds like a family and friends party considering the pregnant OP and her mates were there. I'd take my 8yo and 5yo to a party like that. Hardly an underground rave

and to be fair 13 year olds do think its "cool".
EvilOnion · 29/03/2021 13:05

@JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows I could be reading it wrong but I think the issue is more that the OP states that the older girls were "out of his league" which could potentially mean that he is referring to one of the younger girls rather than concern about them being at the party.

HollowTalk · 29/03/2021 13:06

No, out of your league means they wouldn't look at you twice, not that they're too young.

Triskelis238 · 29/03/2021 13:08

I don't think he was with anyone at the party. The only possibility I can see is the girl the same age as him that he met the week before. It's possible he met up with her when he left the party for half an hour or so.

thank you for understanding where I'm coming from. I'm 99% sure he's full of shit

@OP, You really don’t like him much do you? Poor boy.

jessstan2 · 29/03/2021 13:10

It isn't exactly boast worthy but for some it's a hurdle to be overcome; oneupmanship is another factor. I felt like that actually. Now I am getting old I wish I hadn't because of course I see things more clearly. However I didn't 'do the deed' at 13.

EvilOnion · 29/03/2021 13:10

@HollowTalk I know what it means, maybe I came across wrong.

Basically if the older girls wouldn't have given him a second look he could have been referring to one of the 11 or unders.

I'm not suggesting that's what's happened but I do think that could be a concern and one of the many reasons why I'd be discussing it with him.

Triskelis238 · 29/03/2021 13:11

@tonty, don't be ridiculous, I love him dearly. I don't love his behaviour online bragging to his friends. I doubt any parent would approve of that behaviour.

🤣🤣

Why poor boy? Because OP doesn't buy his BS?

Can I say OP you sound like a great mum - it's SO refreshing to have a mother come on and not defend her little prince's bad behaviour. The fact you recognise the damage a lie like this could cause is a good thing

Disapproval of his behaviour is one thing, saying your DS is ‘full of shit’ goes beyond that, unless full of shit is a term of endearment in your house.

KarmaViolet · 29/03/2021 13:18

@Triskelis238

How on earth do I have this conversation? 'Btw, saw you were bragging about losing your v card, do you realise you're underage, its illegal, and its not ok to treat girls like shit by bragging to your mates"??
That sounds about right. If he's old enough to be bragging to his mates (true or not) he's old enough to deal with the awkward conversation about it. I don't envy you doing it though! Good luck.
BrownEyedGirl80 · 29/03/2021 13:18

Were there girls there who you don't know? If not you could narrow it down

Quite uncalled for. Saying that a 13 yo who was with you all day bar a 30 minute walk with mates is 99% lying about having sex is hardly unjustified.
Christmasfairy2020 · 29/03/2021 13:22

Text him much easier

SleepingStandingUp · 29/03/2021 13:24

Disapproval of his behaviour is one thing, saying your DS is ‘full of shit’ goes beyond that, unless full of shit is a term of endearment in your house. She's clearly refering to this conversation not his general persona. He's bragging about a hypothetical fuck he's claiming to have had to impress his little teenage mates. Let's hope he IS full of shit!

You want op to work out who she thinks raped her kid or which kid he raped?? She's said as far as she's concerned there was no chance and no one reasonable.
ancientgran · 29/03/2021 13:27

@skeggycaggy

I've always been very clear that underage sex is hugely damaging to girls, and if he has any respect for a girl he will wait untill they are older.

What about for boys?

Exactly this.
