I'll start:

High waisted trousers with crop tops
Lip liner that goes over the top of cupid's bow

You can do as you like @whetherpigshavewings - no one is telling anyone what to do. What is very likely in five years time is that super cheap holidays abroad by plane won’t exist. Mass market travel is changing. This is first hand from a travel industry expert who advises the government. I am sorry if you find this hard but it is just the way it will be.

FredaFox · 28/03/2021 21:29

Live laugh love (and other sickly quotes everywhere especially on walks)
Crushed velvet furniture
Glitter paint
Those duct taped patterned walls
Lip/cheek fillers and pretty much distorting a natural face to something resembling a blow up doll
Big black Eyebrows
contouring
Tracksuits/ leisure wear
Daschunds will go the same way as pugs and french bulldogs

CorianderBee · 28/03/2021 22:28

@Boho7

Influencers
Influencers have been around for over 10 years I hardly think a whole industry will tank

We can live in hope.

Thecatonthemat · 29/03/2021 01:03

Hopefully the whole gender religion thing , and the removal of women only facilities

Wandawomble · 29/03/2021 01:32

Millennials who will be known as Boomers by then.

Enough4me · 29/03/2021 02:06

Megan and Harry will hopefully stop being attention seekers.

Agree with this. The future will see a time where women are asking themselves why the fuck they spent actual time and money removing their pubes.

No they won’t 😂 the boomer/millennial name come from when they were born not how old they are, so that won’t change.

Tell that to the executives at Debenhams and John Lewis who implemented extensive store expansion plans...

midsomermurderess · 29/03/2021 09:47

Boomers are the post-war generation who lived through and had all the advantages of the post-war economic boom. Blimey, I do despair of this site sometimes. Earnest, but often so very dumb.

Can I ask a question about that please? How is this shift going to come about, what's going to drive it? Five years seems an extremely short timeframe for a revolution of the travel industry.

knowing how many economies rely heavily on tourism, and hearing tourist industry/ travel and finance expert on the subject... I don't know which government you are advising but your info is not being shared Grin

You just need to google airports and airlines current plans too...

But thank you for an interesting post from a travel industry expert who advises the government 😂

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 29/03/2021 10:23

advantages of the post-war economic boom made me chuckle. Yes we have had lots of advantages, but we started a long way back! Our childhoods were characterized by playing out on bombsites, 52 children in a class at Primary school, very few possessions, clothes or shoes.
Yes some of us went on to enjoy free higher education, but only about 10% went to university and a further 10% on to 'lesser' education like teacher training.
My hope for the future is that all this division of generations will stop. No one can help the era they were born in.

Both from the same poster:

This thread should probably be deleted because it is essentially just yet another bi-weekly sneering hate fest.

Thickos is right. There is another one of these frothing away now too. It's the Daily Mail channel on Mumsnet. Drab, dull and so bone-achingly predictable.

Yes to this, so right. We were so happy that the warfare that affected us, UK & Europe were over. Our parents were so relieved. Then we had the threat of USSR & Nuclear war. My older brother's start to school was delayed for a year because there was none available. Of the University studies, many took economics which in some places attracted derision as did Media Studies recently. [quite rightly] It took us until the mid sixties to benefit.

MarieDelaere · 29/03/2021 11:57

Baby boomers were supposedly born up to 1964 so include women turning 60 who had shitty impoverished childhoods in the early 60s, got shafted with divorce, childrearing and an incompetent child support system, felt the brunt of unequal pay, and who won't receive a state pension till they are 66 despite in many cases being absolutely buggered through having to take on caring responsibilities for old and young while having health problems of their own that aren't properly recognised by the government.

So I would hope in 5 years' time some of the 'boomer' antipathy might have been reframed through the twin prism of class and sex.

Thank you Smile

Are you only on here to criticise others? To tell them how sneery, hate-filled, and stupid they are while displaying those characteristics yourself? It's not compulsory to read MN and maybe some other site would be more to your elevated tastes?

Bythemillpond · 29/03/2021 12:25

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather

Only 52 in your class

56 in mine

We called out a number for register. I was number 29

Bythemillpond · 29/03/2021 13:03

I think people compare todays freedoms and normalities and add on the supposed extra bits baby boomers got. What they don’t realise is the perks were a bright light for a very few and the rest of life was a fucking struggle.
I left school when there were nearly 4 million unemployed
If you went to university to claim your free space you had to be a brain box or an amazing artist
90% of university goers now wouldnt get in.
Those bitching about having to pay for uni would probably be out of work or on a government training scheme at 16 or 18

If you got into uni then you would need somewhere to live. Because of rent restrictions there were very few landlords so very few houses available. I know someone who lived for the 3 years he was at uni in a cupboard. With his feet sticking out onto the landing when he slept.
Yes housing was relatively cheap compared to wages (if you had a job) although it didn’t seem so at the time because everything else was so expensive. There were very few rentals and what was available to rent was really horrible. Plus you had to take into consideration that everything else was very expensive.
There was no Primark or internet to order cheap stuff from China
If you were a woman it was given that you were paid less than a man. Very few companies took any notice of the equal pay act.
Some people might have had an ok time if you were in work but for the most part it was grim
The internet makes things so much easier. You have the world at your fingertips. You want to know something then within seconds you can get the answer. Imagine all the things you do on line being taken away. If you want to know when your local Tesco shuts or what is on at the local cinema then it involved looking up numbers in the telephone directory and calling or buying a local newspaper.
Shops shut at 5.30pm. No Sunday trading and no Wednesday afternoons
If you want to swap lives because you think living through the 60s and 70s is so great then be my guest
It was oppressive and boring and have I mentioned really really grim.
