Mine are :-

Kellogg’s Rise and Shine, a very strange powdered juice drink that we had on special occasions’ instead of actual juice.

Vesta ready meals, particularly the Chow Mein which had crispy noodles on top.

Toast Toppers - weird sludge resembling baby food.

Gross reconstituted ham with sliced egg in the middle. Corned beef.

BedisBliss · 26/03/2021 14:08

remembered another one - Findus boil in the bag roast beef in gravy. Is that still a thing or long gone?

Curlyshabtree · 26/03/2021 14:12

I remembered loving tinned cream. I bought some recently. It was disgusting!

Gowherewindandfiremeettogether · 26/03/2021 14:14

Sunny D squash
Panda pops

Gowherewindandfiremeettogether · 26/03/2021 14:15

Oh and tubby custard and teletubby toast (90s kid)

Wecouldbesohappybaby · 26/03/2021 14:18

@traffolls

Fiendish Feet I don't remember but reminded me of those foot shaped pink ice creams, what were they called and do they still exist?

Quarterback crisps, 10p a packet in the 80s/90s loved them
Push pops and the safety scare with them!

@Traffolls I believe they were called Funny Feet. I was more of a Feast or Max the Lion girl myself.

I loved those packets of flat lollipops on sticks from KwikSave, especially the toffee ones.

Just remembered another couple of the things my mum used to make and serve as 'food'. She'd make up some jelly and then mix it with condensed milk to make mousse. It was fucking disgusting. Also, my mum's spaghetti bolognaise which was beef mince fried with fuck all and mixed with tinned spaghetti. No,no and thrice no.

To the poster who mentioned Gino Ginelli ice cream-yes!! Do you remember the jingle? Tutti fruiti what a cutie, take a Gino home with you. Gino oh Gino Ginelli!

Ah, such memories. Great idea for a thread Star

minniemoocher · 26/03/2021 14:19

Umbongo juice boxes with a trio bar (which you nibbled the chocolate off first. We begged mum for these thanks to advertising on kids tv!

merryhouse · 26/03/2021 14:19

Ah, I loved Rise N Shine! We had a whole load of little tumblers that came as its jar for a while.

And St Ivel 5 pints - used to sneak into the pantry and eat a spoonful of that when no-one was looking.

My granny made junket which I quite liked. I made it some years back but it was a faff trying to get hold of rennet.

Jelly snow, anyone? A packet of jelly, made up with most of the water replaced by milk.

merryhouse · 26/03/2021 14:21

I see @Wecouldbesohappybaby also had jelly snow. Grin Come to think of it, we probably used evaporated milk. Yours was obviously the posh version.

OhWhyNot · 26/03/2021 14:22

Chocolate milkshake powder that made the milkshake thick it was lovely

Dream topping

minniemoocher · 26/03/2021 14:22

@tobee

I did buy ice magic about 10 years back for my kids and it had a weird chemical aftertaste and didn't taste of chocolate at all!

Actually many of these are available tucked away in supermarkets, the fray bentos pies were flying off the shelves a year ago along with instant mash and tinned veg!

NoLeafClover · 26/03/2021 14:23

Ketchips, @TheOldRazzleDazzle. I was literally just coming on to give them a mention Grin.

Also, Pyramints. So delicious, I still miss them.

Anne1958 · 26/03/2021 14:25

Creamola Foam.

Burdalls gravy salt that made the best gravy.

Aztec bars

ShinyMe · 26/03/2021 14:28

The thing i would most like to eat again is a Findus Crispy Pancake in minced beef. Not the other flavours, just the beef one.

Anne1958 · 26/03/2021 14:28

Weren't they called something like Minute steaks

I thought they were called ‘Steaklets’

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 26/03/2021 14:29

Tapioca pudding (my mum called it sago) and semolina pudding. Also angel delight.

MiniMork · 26/03/2021 14:30

“Hi,I’m Peel the Seal
And I’m here to reveal
New Bird’s Cuppas”

Cuppa soup in “handy” individual plastic cups. Like a cross between cuppa soup and a pot noodle.

Also Squirt, came in a yellow can with 💦 type logo. Bit like Sprite.

SugarCoatIt · 26/03/2021 14:31

Ricicles
Hippo pot a mouse
Gino Ginelli ice cream, mint choc chip, my DB loved tutti frutti
Salt n shake crisps
Burtons potato puffs
Those lager pint jelly sweets you used to get
Findus crispy pancakes (yes, you can get them now but strangely they are half the size and taste rather vile in comparison to my memory of them)
Fizz wiz popping candy
Flying saucers
Sherbet fountain
Pineapple cubes
Cola cubes
Toffos

We didn't actually get sweet stuff all that often, but looking at that list you'd think that's all we ate!

My Mum always cooked the stand out had to be steamed jam pudding, very occasionally fairy cakes decorated with those little silver balls, chicken maryland and whenever there was a buffet there was always the obligatory pineapple and cheese, and celery, I remember lots of celery - she never did vol-au-vents but my Aunty did at her buffets, and quiche.

My Mum was also putting grapes in her salads 20 years before Jamie Oliver.

Oh, and melon sprinkled with dried ginger.

HuntingoftheSnark · 26/03/2021 14:32

Arctic roll was the most exotic dessert.
Lo bars - my mother had a diet which suggested melting half a Lo bar and using as sauce for ice cream.
Pop tarts when they first appeared.
Pineapple fritters.

AuntieDolly · 26/03/2021 14:32

I remember Kunzle Showboats! My mum would send me to the shop with 2/- (10p) for a loaf and I could get one with the change. I'm so old 🙁

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 26/03/2021 14:37

@Youmeanyouvelostyourkey yes I remember those meat things were lovely , but yes hate to think what was in them

GintyMcGinty · 26/03/2021 14:38

Sweetie cigarettes
Food fried in lard
Findus crispy pancakes
Cremola Foam
Soda Stream
Fray Bentos Steak and Kidney Pies (although I hated the kidney)
Tripe
Ice Magic on top of ice cream

I still eat gammon steaks with pineapple rings and butterscotch angel delight.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 26/03/2021 14:40

What about sweet cigarettes , used to love pretending to smoke wtf !! Also one lot were sold in a box that resembled a fag packet foil and all , and had brown stick things in that you unwrapped

Finfintytint · 26/03/2021 14:41

Frozzie Freeze Pops
Corona pop
Manchester tart
Candy cigarettes
A chocolate mousse that I think was called “Lovely”

Bluejeantreefrog · 26/03/2021 14:41

I remember toast toppers I used to love them! Like molten lava on toast got many a blister! Also cheese and tomato pot noodle it had a sachet of tomato sauce with it. Still nostalgic looking at them many flavours out now but nothing compared to that. Wasnt like cheesy pasta or mac n cheese but lovely. ( in my eyes anyway)
