Mine are :-

Kellogg’s Rise and Shine, a very strange powdered juice drink that we had on special occasions’ instead of actual juice.

Vesta ready meals, particularly the Chow Mein which had crispy noodles on top.

Toast Toppers - weird sludge resembling baby food.

My mum used to get concentrated orange juice from the health clinic for my little sister. I used to sneak an undiluted spoonful. It was lush.

We also used to have Minadex (believe you can still get it), and spoons of malt extract (no wonder I love maltesers)

And yes to virtually everything on this.

I remember making a Blue Peter desert which was a biscuit and butter base (like cheesecake), topped with tinned mandarins, tinned whisked cream and sugar balls.

LAgeDeRaisin · 26/03/2021 12:12

Remember those crisps that you had to salt yourself?

Those were the days.

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 26/03/2021 12:12

OMG - ice magic. Was that the chocolate liquid sauce you poured over ice cream and it went hard, so it was like a choc ice.....

Arbadacarba · 26/03/2021 12:12

We had findus frozen mouse for a special treat.

Grin are you a cat?

Mysterian · 26/03/2021 12:13

Raisin cordial. I think it might have just been in the Reading area.

WiganNorthWest · 26/03/2021 12:15

Yes and it really did seem like magic! 😂

I used to love Cresta (it's frothy man)! There were lots of different colours/flavours and we weren't often allowed them so they were considered a real treat.

My favourite ice-lollies were Lollygobblechocbombs.

BeastOfBODMAS · 26/03/2021 12:37

White chocolate crunch bars. I only ever remember buying them from the leisure centre vending machine so my memory of the taste includes the chlorine catching in the back of your throat.

DH’s equivalent memory is chilled walkers chicken crisps, from a refrigerated vending machine.

ShinyMe · 26/03/2021 12:38

Does anyone remember the frozen concentrated orange juice? You were supposed to melt it in x amount of water to make juice, but I used to eat it with a spoon as it defrosted, because it was ridiculously concentrated and syrupy.

ShinyMe · 26/03/2021 12:39

My mum's cat still gets her dinner served using an Ice Magic colour changing spoon. We had loads of those spoons from collecting labels.

Meowchickameowmeow · 26/03/2021 12:45

I can't remember what it was called but orange mousse with a crispy chocolate shell was a Sunday treat.
Those huge ice lollies shaped like a pyramid that you couldn't get your mouth round.
Gold Rush, chewing gum in a little bag shaped like gold nuggets.
Bandit biscuits.

Meowchickameowmeow · 26/03/2021 12:46

Oxtail soup out of the vending machine after swimming lessons, hotter than lava and ridiculously salty. Delicious!

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 26/03/2021 12:48

Birds eye superwhip

ren101 · 26/03/2021 12:53

So many!

Birdseye Potato Fritters. Crispy on outside and soft in the middle. I am sure my neighbour used to make them for me when I was small. Does anyone remember these? Sometimes I feel like I have made them up.

Aldi used to do a ‘pigs in mud’ ice cream that I loved. Chocolate with little pink chocolate pigs.

I adored a Nestle Double Cream as a child too. Wish they’d come back.

I remember enjoying Heinz green tomato ketchup too. It looked excellent pouring through the eyes of a potato smiley face.

And of course, the original Turkey Twizzlers.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 26/03/2021 12:54

Dream.topping. We rarely had puddibgs/dessert but when we did, it would always have dream topping.

My Mum.occasionally made a posh pudding for special occasions. She bought a ready made sponge flan case, laid tinned peach slices over it in pretty patterns then put a type of jello glaze over the whole lot. And served it with Dream Topping. This would have been mid 70s.

Love51 · 26/03/2021 12:55

We had certain food only at my gran's. Battenburg cake, and cream soda. We would have ice cream in the cream soda 🥤 which is gross now I stop to think about it.
My mum's cousin was the poshest person on the planet because we visited once and she gave us Angel delight in glasses, and there were 2 colours! Looking back you do one packet between 4 then another packet, but that was the best food ever.
I fed my kids Angel delight once. They did not care for it. Heathens.

Iamnotminterested · 26/03/2021 12:56

@SetPhasersTaeMalkie

My mum used to but Bigga marrowfat peas in a packet to soak with the cube of ? Bicarb? that came with it. A lot of faff for something that IMO tasted shite.

bluebluezoo · 26/03/2021 12:59

Frozen French bread pizza? Pizza topping on half a stick of french bread. Used to love those.

Yes to secret bars.

Boil in the bag curry! And those fish things in butter or parsley sauce.

I’m off to see if ocado do ice magic. Bet it’s been Mondelez’d though and is a poor “chocolate flavour” imitation.

ginghamtablecloths · 26/03/2021 13:01

I loved Creamola Foam which was a highly flavoured powder that came in a tin. Added to water it made a very fizzy drink. It was probably full of E numbers - we didn't know what they were back then.

I don't know if these are still available but we had little individual (6"?) square boxes of fruit pies, strawberry, raspberry and the like.

Iamnotminterested · 26/03/2021 13:03

I still love Angel Delight, especially butterscotch flavour Smile

ginghamtablecloths · 26/03/2021 13:04

I very occasionally still buy Dream Topping EmmaGrundy, whisk it up and eat the whole bowl - then feel very guilty afterwards and a bit sick. And thoroughly ashamed of myself.

TheOldRazzleDazzle · 26/03/2021 13:04

Whenever I had a friend over for tea or went to theirs, we had chicken nuggets, alpha bites and ketchup. This never varied, which meant household-specific accompaniments were tantalisingly exotic. One friend always had dandelion and burdock as the drink (we were strictly a squash family), while another had Heinz spaghetti hoops with their nuggets. We had Heinz spaghetti, yes, but not with another meal. It was a revelation.

I fondly recall the frozen potato innovation that was a sort of extruded pipe with ketchup running through the middle. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. They really gave alphabites a run for their money.

Chanjer · 26/03/2021 13:04

They weren't weird really but a world without pollywaffle is barely a world at all

And space food sticks, which might still be available, but I live in the wrong country now

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 26/03/2021 13:07

Zap ice lollies
Strawberry Cresta
Stinger bar
