This table and these chairs in the garden.
Family mostly hate them I rather like them.
Does it look odd?
Patio being replaced for dark grey slabs next week.

The chairs do not look comfy and would need cushions so you’d be having to faff about storing them inside and taking by them out when you go. I have outdoor settings/cushions that are 10yr guaranteed weatherproof but tbh after 2 years they start and look quite average but nothing physically wrong with them so warranty not breached.

I’d rethink the table as well.

@ChickenSoupForTheHmm

This
That's not bad but it would be awkward for putting stuff on it because of the panel parts in the middle, if you were having food outside and that kind of thing
ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 11:41

The chairs I adore and are super comfortable so definitely keeping them just rethinking table

The chairs are lovely

This
No offence but that's awful. The only unique thing about it is they forgot to add the other half of the door.
CleverCatty · 26/03/2021 11:42

Have you read the reviews for the chairs? If you're happy with them then that's fine!

MrsFLongbottom · 26/03/2021 11:44

I’m clearly in he minority but I don’t think they are awful together at all- they don’t quite match but I agree with pp that some yellow cushions or seat pads and a black candle holder would go a long way! Any potted plants you can put near them too will soften it a bit.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 11:46

Or this table which I’d need to treat but very similar to our kitchen table style so think it could work?

I love your chairs. Where are they from?

Good luck finding a table to go with that but i think steer away from wood perhaps as it's too jarring??

AryaStarkWolf · 26/03/2021 11:47

Sorry this one
Oh yeas, that's lovely, very rustic
ginghamtablecloths · 26/03/2021 11:48

You can get special paint for metal to help coordinate the colours which has probably been pointed out.

Darkbrownistheriver · 26/03/2021 11:51

If you put a black pot/lantern on the table I think it would look fine, particularly since you’re changing the patio to grey. As regards the chairs, I’m sure they’re comfortable now when you’re fully dressed, but try sitting on them in the summer with bare legs - ouchy!

BUT my experience of yellow is that all the insects in your garden are going to think that table is a huge yellow 🌼. They are going to love it! I know this from having worn yellow tops outside ......

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 11:52

Chairs from dunhelm and an absolute bargain £29 each was looking identical ones at £60 each online

sleepylittlebunnies · 26/03/2021 12:00

If the table is a bit high you could always cut a bit off the legs. Maybe some yellow and black cushions might tie them together, they’ll look good with grey slabs.

littlepattilou · 26/03/2021 12:01

I like the chairs.

I don't like the table.

Love that one! Not sure if it would last outside?
MrsRLynde · 26/03/2021 12:12

Think you have a cool 50s/early 60s vibe there that's working just fine, OP. Agree with PPs who say you could play it up further with cushions and accessories (would go for fabric prints inspired from that era). Or if you wanted a change, to contrast with your darker slabs, you could paint the lot within minimal faff using Frenchic Al Fresco.

DumplingsAndStew · 26/03/2021 12:24

If the stones/slabs are in a decent condition, you could ask about having them relaid and repointed. That would probably save a decent amount of money.

unim · 26/03/2021 12:36

I really like this combination!

Peachy66 · 26/03/2021 12:36

You can spray the metal table with Hammerite Paint to match the chairs then I think it would match.

tenlittlecygnets · 26/03/2021 12:46

God, people are so critical. I like both table and chairs.

I agree with a black lantern for the table and yellow cushions for the chairs, then job done. Enjoy your drinks!

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2021 12:47

The table needs to be something metal, glass topped or wicker to the match the chairs. It’s not it needs to be matchy matchy, butthey need to be in the same style vibe.

Personally I’d just spray paint the yellow table black or charcoal

Ninkanink · 26/03/2021 12:50

Yes it’s not about being matchy matchy, but it does need to work together.

And people are giving their (our) honest opinions, because we were asked! I’m sure OP would rather have constructive criticism rather than a bunch of people saying ‘oh it’s fab, it’s great’ when they don’t actually mean it.

cunexttime · 26/03/2021 12:53

Ha I have these chairs and love them but have had comments Grin Love the chairs, hate the table.
