This table and these chairs in the garden.
Family mostly hate them I rather like them.
Does it look odd?
Patio being replaced for dark grey slabs next week.

I don’t like it either, sorry @ChickenSoupForTheHmm

The chairs are ok but the table is horrid. But what we think doesn’t matter, does it Smile

Crazycrazylady · 26/03/2021 10:22

Oil skin table cloth in a dark colour..
Doesn't work as is I'm afraid .

diddl · 26/03/2021 10:23

Looking adain & now knowing that it's yellow metal, I think it's great.

That said, I've just looked into my garden & I have a wooden table & metal chairs & I love them.

No one else in the family gives a fuck, so I'm happy!

Jubaju · 26/03/2021 10:23

Looks like something you’d use temporarily while your proper furniture is being delivered. Also bistro chairs aren’t really used around a table like that

GrandDuchessRomanov · 26/03/2021 10:24

Another one who thinks a nice tablecloth would be your friend.

icdtap · 26/03/2021 10:25

Table is horrible, sorry.
It looks like an indoor table which she didn't want in the house anymore so dragged it outside to be left to the elements or until you can arrange for the council to pick it up and take it to the tip.

The chairs are ok but not very practical or eating as you'd have to sit forward on the edge of them.

Sell everything online and look on gumtree or freecycle for a matching set.

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 26/03/2021 10:27

It's a no from me sorry

l2b2 · 26/03/2021 10:29

The chairs are fine, hate the table.

As an aside, your existing patio is really nice.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 10:30

😂 I could afford a decent set that is sadly true. Garden slabs and renewing the fences soon so moneys on there.
I’m looking at second hand rustic wooden tables now.
And possibly Argos might let me return it?
If not then yes cushions and black lantern on table second option.
We don’t really eat outside lots it would more for drinks 🍸

How many people have yellow metal tables indoors?

Saz12 · 26/03/2021 10:30

I’d put yellow patterned outdoor cushions on the chairs and possibly a black pot on table to pull it together.

I think the picture makes the table look like it’s wood, hence the “kitchen table” comments. IRL it won’t look like that as it’s yellow painted metal.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 10:31

Couldnt*
Not could!

YummyInMyTummy · 26/03/2021 10:31

I don’t think the table goes with the chairs - it’s the wrong height and the wrong colour. I realise the table is metal but it looks like a wooden kitchen / dining / indoor table and not meant for outside.

TheGlassBlowersDaughter · 26/03/2021 10:31

In your pic, the table looks wooden and that makes it odd. But since the table is actually yellow metal, I think it's ok.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/03/2021 10:32

@LindsayDenton79

They don't go together, it looks like you had the chairs already and somebody gave you the table
That's what I thought. I like the chairs: I like the table, but they look slightly mismatched.

If you painted the table black with metal paint, perhaps?

But either way - your garden, you like them, ignore comments.

me4real · 26/03/2021 10:32

The chairs look ok but the table is cheap-looking. But if you like it, that's what counts.

diddl · 26/03/2021 10:34

I like the idea of stuff not always matching & being an obvious set.

Buy what you like Op!

Saz12 · 26/03/2021 10:35

If you don’t eat outside particularly, then just look at black outdoor “coffee table” for outside? That’d go with the chairs. For me yellow and black is quite “harsh” for a garden, whereas just black will disappear amongst plants etc. I do t think a rustic wooden table will match the chairs either (sorry!).

But no one on this thread will be coming round to your back garden, so....

Ninkanink · 26/03/2021 10:36

It looked like a wooden indoor until it was clarified that it was metal.

It still doesn’t naturally go imo. But you can make things work, of course.

Don’t get rid of the table if it’s too late to return it - Make it work for now and see if you can can come across something else going cheap at some point. I’ve got lots of things in our home that aren’t quite right but they work for now - they’ll be replaced when we’re done paying for the bigger priorities.

That was obviously meant for the OP, not in reply to @SoupDragon!

20viona · 26/03/2021 10:38

Not good

Reinventinganna · 26/03/2021 10:38

I like it. I would definitely get yellow cushions and a black lantern or plant pot.

diddl · 26/03/2021 10:38

What I've realised from this is that I don't if stuff "goes".

I like it, I buy it!

Chimchar · 26/03/2021 10:42

I really like it as a sitting/drinks/chatting area.Smile As many other pp, I would get some nice yellow and black cushions and a black flowerpot or something on the table to pull it altogether.

You'll probably be able to find some cheaply on eBay or Wilko, dumelm, supermarkets etc.

Have faith!

l2b2 · 26/03/2021 10:44

Seems a shame to replace the patio, that stone looks expensive...? York stone ?
