This table and these chairs in the garden.
Family mostly hate them I rather like them.
Does it look odd?
Patio being replaced for dark grey slabs next week.

I agree with other posters, it looks like the table is too high compared to the chairs which makes it look a bit weird. But if you’re just going to use it to put your drinks on then it doesn’t matter that much.

Thymeout · 26/03/2021 10:50

in a small space, with 4 people around the table, all those splayed legs - table and chairs - are going to be really annoying. At the very least, you need a pedestal table.

DarkishBlue · 26/03/2021 10:55

I wouldn't care about the apparent mismatching, but my stomach sinks when I see those metal or wooden chairs where the seat slopes backwards. It always digs into the back of my legs and I have to stand up and pretend I want to stretch my legs. They're unsittable in for a shortarse like me.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 26/03/2021 10:55

I thought it was a wooden table at first. I would stick some yellow or yellow and black cushions on the chairs, and maybe a black outdoor candle on the table.

StarintheMorning · 26/03/2021 10:58

I’m not sure the height of table and chairs works, but if it does then I would paint the table black, maybe mask off the bottom 6” of each leg and leave yellow?
Pull it all together with some geometric fabric cushions. Like this maybe? You could even paint some pots with triangles around the top or even the outside circle of the table top.
I paint my outside metal table and chairs every third year or so, different colour each time. It does last, just use metal paint.

(Apologies if this is duplicate post, MN is struggling to cope with photo apparently)

Those chairs are for sitting back and reclining in.
I can imagine sitting around a higher table and having to perch forward-it would kill my back.
The higher table just looks wrong.
If you want to just have drinks get a lower one and not a bright colour.

callmeH · 26/03/2021 11:00

I find the fad for grey boring, the slabs that are there look for better, weathered is a good outdoor look.

justanotherneighinparadise · 26/03/2021 11:02

Stick an oil cloth table cloth on the table and tie in the chair with cushions and it will look absolutely great 👌

Ninkanink · 26/03/2021 11:04

You could keep the yellow table as a serving table (for all the meals/parties/bbqs you’re going to have outside in the summer!), and get another lower coffee table to go with the chairs. People don’t need a dining table, they can sit with their plate on their lap.

Ninkanink · 26/03/2021 11:05

And I agree, I wouldn’t replace the patio! The stone that’s already there looks really good!

CounsellorTroi · 26/03/2021 11:06

I think they look fine but would look even better with bright cushions on the chairs.

Hoppinggreen · 26/03/2021 11:06

It’s very yellow isn’t it
I agree that if you add more yellow with pots or cushions etc it will look better

EvenMoreFuriousVexation · 26/03/2021 11:07

If the look you're going for is "ok" rather than some sort of trendy perfectly designed set up, then it's fine. It doesn't look like it's come out of a skip and been taped together, and it's clean.

In terms of practicality, the chairs are fine for lounging but won't be suitable for eating, I'd have thought.

PPs suggestions about bringing it together with cushions and table decs are probably the way to go if YOU like it. But if you want to eat outside regularly then I'd suggest a rethink.

Movinghouseatlast · 26/03/2021 11:12

Is that patio York Stone? If you really don't like it at least try to sell the slabs. I have just spent 3000 on those slabs myself!

crosspelican · 26/03/2021 11:18

I like them. Looks v chic. Get yellow outdoor accessories - cushions, lanterns, fairy lights etc.

crosspelican · 26/03/2021 11:19

Also keep your existing stone slabs - they're lovely! Grey is OUT, seriously. We're over it.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/03/2021 11:24

I like the chairs, where are they from please?

We need a new patio set and our job this weekend is to choose and buy one as I suspect there will be a bit of a rush in the next couple of weeks/when the non essential shops open and I don't want to miss out like last year.

AryaStarkWolf · 26/03/2021 11:27

Chairs are nice, table looks like an indoor kitchen table and not a nice one

Bluetrews25 · 26/03/2021 11:30

It is possible to get paint for metal. Or a spray. Just sayin'.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 11:30

I have zero clue about the patio slabs it was a redrow built house around 1997? If they were done at the time or since no idea.
All different heights so it’s safety issue with the kids running around why I wanted to levelled up?

Flump9 · 26/03/2021 11:33

Don't have a yellow table! Has no one here ever hung a yellow top on the washing line? Yellow attracts loads of little flies and bugs so unless you want those in your drinks I would get rid!

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2021 11:33

I’d paint it matt black with something like this, but it does look like a kitche table. The patio is fine and doesn’t need replacing it just needs rejointing.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/03/2021 11:35

What about this door table 45 cm high so lot lower than chairs?
