AIBU to hate mums who turn up to drop off kids in pyjamas?

Mainly because these are the same ones who are also usually swearing in public and shouting down their mobile phones, and/or their kids.

OP posts:

Hmm
hagsrus0 · 24/03/2021 16:42

I do think the kids need to be properly dressed, not wearing pajamas.

Loopyloututu2 · 24/03/2021 16:42

You HATE them? I would judge them and think them slovenly but I wouldn't HATE them, no. They're possibly nice people but just very lazy and don't give a shit what others think?

I am a bit shocked that people actually do this though, I've never actually seen it (I did go to Liverpool once though and there were young women walking around the city centre in pyjamas and with rollers in their hair Grin)

GladysTheGroovyMule · 24/03/2021 16:42

Are dads allowed to wear pjs in public? Are they prone to swearing down the phone at people while wearing their nightclothes?

BabyBee93 · 24/03/2021 16:42

I'd hate if it annoyed me enough to use my precious free time to write about it to strangers on the internet

How's the view from your ivory tower?

RootyT00t · 24/03/2021 16:42

I wear PJs in public. Does this mean you don't like me? I'm devastated. You sound like such a lovely person as well.

idontlikealdi · 24/03/2021 16:43

Where are all these people wearing pjs in public?

minniemoocher · 24/03/2021 16:44

I get you @MiscUser9823 annoyed me too. The culprits at my dcs schools were just how you described too. One then (unfortunately) moved next to me and were nightmare neighbours swearing in the garden whilst smoking cannabis at 11pm etc. Could have dealt with that but she was neglecting her son who used to ask to play with my dc then beg for food because his mum never cooked anything)sandwiches 3 times a day by all accounts, his dad worked, council house). We moved because I had to report child neglect and we got hate mail, social services took the dc into care because sandwiches were the least of the problems

We moved.

FlyingBurrito · 24/03/2021 16:44

Are all the PJ threads being started by the same person?

It's noticable that we're coming out of lockdown, covid threads are being edged out by lots of nonsense

FoxyTheFox · 24/03/2021 16:48

I don't think I've ever paid particular attention to what people on the school run are wearing, usually too busy herding my own DC along to worry about whether or not James' mum is in her nightie.

RootyT00t · 24/03/2021 16:48

@idontlikealdi

Where are all these people wearing pjs in public?
Over here Grin
HelloMrBond · 24/03/2021 16:49

I’m in full agreement, although whilst I don't “hate” it, I certainly don’t like to see it. It shows a complete disregard for ones appearance, self value and standards in general. Do these women argue that they are rushed or don’t have time in the morning? Who knows knows, but it takes all of 5 minutes to gets get dressed, an alarm can be set earlier if possible. Heaven help future generations who may see this as being the norm.

Insomnia5 · 24/03/2021 16:49

Do you know what I hate? Pedofiles, child/animals abusers and terrorists. Pyjamas don’t retaliate register anywhere on my hate scale

midsomermurderess · 24/03/2021 16:50

what has brought this on all of a sudden? People going on about this? God, it's dull.

midsomermurderess · 24/03/2021 16:53

Flying Burrito, most Covid threads were/are also nonsense.

Kimye4eva · 24/03/2021 16:54

there are 2/3 mums at DS’s school who drop off/pick up their kids in pjs and a dressing down every day.

The drop off I can kind of understand. Running late, can’t be bothered, whatever. But pick up? Do people seriously do that?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/03/2021 16:54

Pales in comparison to pyjamas in the supermarket , dirty feet in flip flops ( not that they pick up food with their feet , that would be a talent , ..I just don't want to see them ) and topless men in supermarket Envy < not envy

FiveNightsAtMummys · 24/03/2021 16:56

It doesn't bother me at all, I'm too busy making sure I get to school on time / we have everything etc to even notice what other people are wearing. Least there covered up, some lounge wear looks like pjs too. As for bad example to their kids, maybe there learning them not to judge a book by its cover perhaps 🤔

BilboBercow · 24/03/2021 16:57

Let me guess op, are they all fat, unemployed, single parents with big screen TVs?

Whatisthisfuckery · 24/03/2021 16:57

I wonder how many pajama clad parents drop their kids off at school in cars, but you don’t notice them because you can’t really see what they are wearing? Not so easy to stereotype people in cars, is it?

Freetodowhatiwant · 24/03/2021 16:59

I’ve honestly never seen it at school. When I lived opposite our last primary school I would chance it if I had slept in something looking like tracksuit bottoms but never in actual pyjama-esque gear even if I had slept in them. I wfh so usually got dressed properly with make up etc later. But in the current primary and old primary I’ve never actually seen anyone in pyjamas. I would think it was quite funny tbh. If it matters the first primary was London and the second is in a town on the coast.

Even if they do, who cares?

Why are people so judgy/bothered about what other people wear?

I could easily wear pajamas to the grocery shop, for a walk, whatever. It's just a piece of clothing so not sure why the fact that people label it a specific way should mean you can't wear it whenever you want...

Jellycatspyjamas · 24/03/2021 17:01

And I do come across the usual 3 or 4. And perhaps i am being judgemental. But theyre always so loud and not very polite / using bad language.

It’s the pyjamas that make them sweary you know. There’s a magical process that happens if you wear pyjamas in public that turns you into a foul mouthed madam.

I’m assuming you’ve never come across rude, swearing people who are fully dressed?

AlexCabot · 24/03/2021 17:04

We have a pajama troll now? I'm smelling some socking going on here too...

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 24/03/2021 17:04

I wear my pjs under my jogging bottoms. Next.
