To wear this for an interview?

It's for a clinical position on a children's ward. I've not interviewed in person for a long time!! Is this professional enough?

To wear this for an interview?

For heaven’s sake, it isn’t a party dress. It’s the kind of thing hundreds of women wear for work every day. Any interviewer who’s put off by something that isn’t black trousers and white top isn’t up to the job.

@HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee

OT, pharmacist, ward manager they’re all in short supply. Hard to recruit to posts In fact often locums fill the OT and pharmacy posts for a number of months Clinical? She could be the SpR, the SALT, the PT....let’s see if op tells us
Doctors aren't interviewed on a ward basis, so it won't be SpR.

But it doesn't matter anyway. Even if there is a shortage of your profession, you can always be up against a strong competitor when going for a particular post.

Yes and equally no one applies and there’s a locum in post
It’s common to readvertise posts multiple times
And you can have locums in a variety of posts eg OT, SpR, SALT whilst there is a vacancy as the work needs done

SD1978 · 23/03/2021 21:52

Too much for an interview IMO- plainer shirt and trousers or skirt would be more appropriate

Nothinglikeachocolatebrownie · 23/03/2021 21:52

Yeah I would think way too dressy. I think for an interview you should wear something very simple, so the interviewer can focus on you and your face etc.

Dixiechickonhols · 23/03/2021 21:52

Not for an interview. It’s a party or wedding guest outfit.

notacooldad · 23/03/2021 21:53

Op
I like the Little Wings Factory!
They've got some nice things!

Very odd to assume this shortage is country wide and op will therefore be the sole candidate to be considered.
HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 23/03/2021 21:58

A cursory google or discussion with nhs recruiters will confirm national shortage of trained staff @greyhound

Very dependant on job role, grade and location. Loads in some parts of the country and too few in others
Lullaby88 · 23/03/2021 22:07

Not something id wear to an interview. But if i was id pair it with some smart black shoes, preferably flat/low heeld and a blazer with a button fastened and some dark tights thatl make it look less dressy.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 23/03/2021 22:09

Yes as I said trained staff are in shortage
HCA not so much the case.
Location and reputation of employer will potentially attract more applicants

I like it and think it would be fine for non-corporate role, especially one working with children. Despite the fact you wouldn't be wearing it in your role, it shows you have personality.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 23/03/2021 22:15

Genuinely not meaning to be mean here and it's not my industry so I may be in the wrong
Gee you don’t say....

I dare say, but assuming op will be handed the role on a plate because she's the sole candidate (or even the best candidate) would seem to be a little unwise.

youremyperson · 23/03/2021 22:21

I'm an advanced nurse practitioner.

I wear patterned shirts for interviews, no regrets, but a dress is a bit too far for me.

However, if that is your professional style, and something you would wear regularly to work, then it probably fits your personality and you could pull it off for interview easily!

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 23/03/2021 22:21

Yes It was very obnoxious and it was so random too
The psychology of prints,a well know categorisation and a diagnostic tool. not

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 23/03/2021 22:23

No plates were involved @GreyhoundG1rl
I actually said registration, good answers , appropriate references
I see op is a nurse. Advanced practitioner
