If I don't laugh at myself I'll probably cry.

I had my hair done in October 2019 with the idea of getting it done again in early spring 2020 ready for the summer, well that didn't plan out obviously and now another 12 months have passed and I look like Brian May.
Anti-frizz serum is useless at this point.

Tell me I'm not the only person who looks ridiculous.

On the plus side it’s healthier than it has been (apart from the ends) because I can’t have my highlights. On the negative side I feel like I have aged 10 years overnight. The ends are literally straw. It’s grey frizzy and there is no shape. I know it’s the not the biggest thing in the world but it’s really eating away at my self esteem.

Grim.

StillMedusa · 22/03/2021 21:00

Hagrid.
Grew out a terrible mega short cut from 2 years ago and was just touching shoulders on first lockdown. Managed a trim when they reopened then one more in September. My fringe is now down past my nose, the rest is half way down my back and full of split ends which I have been hacking off with nail scissors in the evenings! (So ragged as well now!)

Oh and it's grey and wooly. No roots tho as I stopped dying when I had the pixie cut. Cannot wait for a haircut. I never considered hairdressers essential before...I do now!!!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 22/03/2021 21:01

The condition of mine is great; I've not coloured it in more than ten years and use the curly girl method. I taught myself to use clippers last year, so the front and sides look fine. The style is asymmetric - the dodgy bit is at the back, which my hairdresser sculpts and grades in beautifully... and I can't.
It's fine as long as I don't go in a lift with mirrors all the way round.
I've also started spritzing it with rose water - encourages curl and defrizzes, and also makes it smell amazing.
My hairdresser hasn't released any slots for April - I'm glued to his twitter feed.

Cushionsnotpillows · 22/03/2021 21:20

Wild. Naturally curly and last cut was end of Oct. It's so thick it keeps me warm though. Can practically wrap it round me now.

JayDot500 · 22/03/2021 21:28

My hair is doing amazingly. It's never looked so healthy at this length before (3/4's down my back if you stretch the curls). Because of the lockdowns, I've manipulated it less so it has just grown and grown. I have afro textured hair, so curly frizz is life. I'm used to it, I love my puff!

FangsForTheMemory · 22/03/2021 21:31

6 cm of colour at the ends, rest grey. I’ve bought some elastics and put it in a ponytail most days. Haven’t been able to do that in decades!

caringcarer · 22/03/2021 21:37

I lost patience withy hair about 6 weeks ago. I grabbed kitchen sissors and cut off about 5 1/2 inches. I am much happier with it now. It is still long but I got rid of straggly end and it looks thicker now. I think it looks straight but if not don't care.

OrangeSamphire · 22/03/2021 21:38

Absolutely bloody awful. Greys are out in force. Highlights have grown out. And I hacked my hair to pieces with a crap pair of scissors. So now it is short, bushy and uneven 😬

thestarvingcaterpillar · 22/03/2021 21:47

So so bad.... I look like Billy Ray Cyrus!

Hastybird · 22/03/2021 21:49

Another Hagrid here 🤣

B33Fr33 · 22/03/2021 21:58

I shaved mine off after a few trims during the lockdowns.

Now it's all healthy, dye free quite a lot of it as it's not been thinned out but I keep gelling it or wearing headbands, the short and spikey has aged me a lot, so easy to sort though . Great condition though.

Sue81 · 22/03/2021 22:06

Mine is dreadful. It was overdue a cut pre March 2020! Its too long, full of split ends, roots that are now down to my ears and has zero shape. Default "style" is a messy (not in a good way) bun.

3CCC · 22/03/2021 22:29

Hair on my head! Not too bad I had booked a hair appointment in December for April 20th. So whilst it needs a trim and a colour.

The hair on my legs on the other side Confused i desperately need a wax

TwoZeroTwoZero · 22/03/2021 22:33

Mine looks like normal but it's quite long, fairly straight and I only usually have it cut every 2-3 years or so (and I had it cut just before lockdown number 1).

Thecazelets · 22/03/2021 22:35

My hair looks awful too. Like a chewed bath mat with ratty ends

Thanks Chottie - we must be twins!

Mooloolabababy · 22/03/2021 22:36

Bloody awful

TheBullfinch · 22/03/2021 22:54

Back in May 2020, I had a go at cutting my hair - sides and fringe - as I had curtain hair.

Disaster. Couldnt get the sides to match and looked like a toddler had done it.

This time, I've left well alone so now look like retired Barbi with two inches of grey root and my hair is down my back. It's just embarrassing now.

Fairydustrust · 22/03/2021 23:20

I was only wondering today just how much hair is going to be piled up at the hairdressers when they re open. A bit like the fridge mountain, but made of split ends Grin

enchantedspleen · 22/03/2021 23:31

Cousin It checking in.

Vivana · 22/03/2021 23:37

I thinned my hair out and will box dye it tomorrow and will probably come out bad but better than what it is presently. I can't tie it up and have to look like a mop walking about Grin

happymummy12345 · 23/03/2021 01:09

It's fine. I don't get my hair done. The last time I had my hair professionally washed trimmed and styled was august 2012, the day before my mums wedding.
I only ever went to the same place and had it done by the same lady. She knew exactly what I wanted and liked (I always had exactly the same thing every time). She used to say "usual"? And I'd say "yes". I trusted her 100%.
I moved 250 miles away in 2013 and never bothered to try anyone else, especially for a cut or trim. Even when I got married I didn't have my hair professionally done as the hairdresser didn't turn up on the day as she 'couldn't be bothered', her exact words.
I first took my son to a local barber who came highly recommended in 2018. She's brilliant. She can cut ladies hair but she doesn't usually do it, only occasionally for certain people, and it's only a basic dry cut or trim. She did mine a few days after she did my sons hair for his birthday in September 2018. So I went 6 years without having anything at all done to my hair professionally. She was brilliant and wasn't too scissor happy like some can be. I got it trimmed again a year later again around my sons birthday in September 2019. We joked that I'd have a trim once a year. With everything that happened I haven't Ben since September 2019 and won't be going for ages yet. It doesn't bother me at all as I don't need to go. I wash and condition it myself, leave it to dry naturally if I can, and I straighten it myself (I have what I call 3 levels of straightening, 1 where it's a very quick going over while it's in a ponytail to take the frizz out. 2 where I section it and do it but quicker and not as carefully or as good, that's if I'll be putting it up after. And 3 where I do it properly with proper tiny sections and I take my time, like a hairdresser would. That's if I'm leaving it down).

RoseRedRoseBlue · 23/03/2021 01:13

A total state, with greys, roots and loads of dry ends 😐

Titsywoo · 23/03/2021 01:13

Mine is fine. I had it cut and coloured in October and normally only do that every 6 months or so.i have curly hair which tends to be pretty forgiving anyway. The greys at the temples are getting a bit too obvious for my liking so I hope I can get booked in as soon as possible!

happymummy12345 · 23/03/2021 01:16

For me it's having my eyebrows and nails done once a fortnight that matters and makes me feel like me, (obviously not during the 3 lockdowns).
I get my eyebrows waxed which makes them look so much better. In the lockdowns I've been plucking stray hairs and pretending I know what I'm actually doing with them (I don't at all). End up ruining the perfect shape my amazing lady finally helped me achieve.
And I get my acrylic nails done. I know most people on here especially hate them, and they hate long ones even more. But I love them. For me they have to be long, about an inch from the free edge, or the end of my finger. When I get a new set applied I don't get the tips cut at all, and every infill I never get the length shortened, so they get longer as they grow. And always nice colours with designs and glitter. During the lockdowns I just leave them on. They obviously grow out but they last without breaking and have minimal lifting. (They lasted 15-16 weeks in the 1st one. 6 weeks in the 2nd one. And hopefully as long as possible this time.
Will be 13 weeks on Wednesday 24th and still going strong). For me the longer the better so I love them. I'm not me without them.
