How's your hair looking?

If I don't laugh at myself I'll probably cry.

I had my hair done in October 2019 with the idea of getting it done again in early spring 2020 ready for the summer, well that didn't plan out obviously and now another 12 months have passed and I look like Brian May.
Anti-frizz serum is useless at this point.

Tell me I'm not the only person who looks ridiculous.

I just cut my own hair, so it doesn't look too bad.

CatBumJuice · 23/03/2021 19:17

The other day I put mine in a ponytail, put another hair bobble further down it and cut between the two. It didn't work terribly well....

TheMostHappy · 23/03/2021 19:19

Whelp.... mine is a variety of different colours.

At the top it is dark brown with sprinkles of very wirey grey.

In the mid-lengths it is a sort of horrid dirty blonde with some purple where I've tried to cool the colour with purple shampoo and it's stuck.

I also have some dirty pink where I went for some colour to distract from the roots with a "wash out" temporary colour that absolutely refuses to budge.

To top it all off, I found a hair that had somehow split five (five) ways and I have bangs that have grown out.

I look horrific.

EventOfTheSeason · 23/03/2021 19:20

A bit shit. I've been too scared to trim it myself because I'm getting married at the start of April but I've managed to book a hair appointment the day before wedding.

MarshmallowSwede · 23/03/2021 19:21

I tried to cut my hair.. needless to say it’s now at a diagonal angle at the ends. Dry, and dull... I already made an appointment but I’m counting the days until then. Now I’m wearing it in a bun. Not even a fresh wash helps.. it’s in that stage where only professional intervention will do.

AmyDudley · 23/03/2021 19:25

Similar to this but in grey. Every morning I grapple it into a ponytail and then have to sit down for a rest, by which time it has grown another inch of width.

Fairly rubbish but I'm not really into 'grooming' so I can't say it's the thing I'm most bothered about, one year in ...

It was a jaw-length bob and is now past my shoulders. I managed a cut back last July when my hairdresser was open. Since then, I think I've hacked at the split ends twice, and experimented with pink highlights. I think it's safe to say it looks a bit interesting! Grin

I don't care.

Jocasta2018 · 23/03/2021 19:34

My hair looks like shit.
Since this time last year, I have developed chronic telogen effluvium.
There's a lot of scalp & some straggly rats tails. Bits start to grow back then fall out.
I can't look at myself in the mirror any more.

OverByYer · 23/03/2021 19:39

I look like David St Hubbins out of This is Spinal Tap

GoodbyeToCare · 23/03/2021 19:42

I've got a cross between a mullet and a Victoria Wood look going on. Booked in for May 1st and it can't come quick enough.

DianaT1969 · 23/03/2021 19:58

If you're asking about the hair on my upper lip, it's growing thick and fast. The hair on my head is dry, superbly uneven and the hair stylist is going to earn every of his inflated fee next month.

mamaandbabas · 23/03/2021 20:01

My hair is like Hagrid from Harry Potter films.

dhfoody47 · 23/03/2021 20:28

Great! I'm in Wales GrinStarGrin

QueenofLouisiana · 23/03/2021 20:40

Last cut in October, last appointment in December was cancelled as I had to isolate. Hair is now about an inch below my bra strap. Looks like I’ve had balayage due to 12 inches of roots.
It’s tied back full time, so only DH and DS ever see it.

ferriswheel20 · 23/03/2021 20:40

I'm currently sporting a mullet. Not a fun, trendy Miley Cyrus mullet, I look like Pat Sharp

GrannyWeatherwaxsHatpin · 23/03/2021 20:56

A mixed bag. On one hand it hasn't been cut in 14 months and the ends are desperately dry. It needs dying but then I've done that myself for years, so there's no excuse there other than inertia (and winter meaning that I've been wearing a hat outdoors since about October) Grin

On the upside I've had more time to treat it (coconut mask every day, VO5 hot oil once a week) and let it dry naturally which means it's actually grown long without looking dreadful. I also tried out Elvive's No Haircut Cream - a leave-in conditioner - which is a bloody marvel. You'd have to prise that out of my cold dead hands.

poppycat10 · 23/03/2021 20:59

I do my fringe and my mum cut the rest when I visited her. But the colour is a bit naff, it hasn't been highlighted since August :(

TeaAndBiscuitsAndWine · 23/03/2021 21:17

OMG mine is horrendous! I gave up and shaved it off, and now it is short and all sticks up so that I look like Shock-headed Peter

randomchatter · 23/03/2021 21:27

I gave myself a covid haircut one morning during current lockdown, following months of wanting to 'go natural'! Turns out I'm not alone - lots of hoodies and caps worn in our zoom meetings (men and women)!!

My hair is awful but I'm loving the freedom of 'natural' chemical free hair - for now Grin

catsandchaos · 23/03/2021 21:31

It's my son's hair that needs a barber. Long pieces at the side and a curly shelf on top falling into his eyes. He won't let me trim it

shouldistop · 23/03/2021 21:35

Looks ok but I'll be glad to get it done. I'm in Scotland and had it done just before Christmas, booked in for early April.

Quadrangle · 23/03/2021 21:48

Like Ronald Hutton maybe.

Luddite26 · 23/03/2021 22:00

My hair always looks awful very fine and fly away. But due to old age and feeling unattractive i plunged to buy a Dyson hairdryer 5x easy pays from QVC.
I see to the GCs on a morning so leave the house at 5.30. If i am busy i shower and do hair etc before i go but sometimes i shower when i get back before heading out to work.
This morning had lots to do so showered and dried hair with roller brush and dyson put full make up on including flash balm on top of serum and moisturiser - best i can look !
When i got back at 8.45 i said to DH are we ready he said aren't you going in the shower? I was like Can't you tell i have been in? No he said i was like really?? I can't not shower and do the hair every day or i look so limp and greasy but it turns out even using the pricey hairdryer i don't look any better.
I justified the price thinking there hasn't been a hair appointment for over a year so that has paid for it.
Anyway DH then dug his spade in again and announced he doesn't always look! Great ! That says it all!

CaffeineAndCrochet · 23/03/2021 22:21

I got a long pixie/short bob in before Christmas so I've a slightly longer bob now of various lengths.

I've box dyed it once since because I wanted to cover the blonde highlights I had, but I'm thinking of taking the opportunity to stop dying it altogether. I'm mid-30s and have a small amount of grey on my hairline. But unless I feel like dying it for the rest of my life, this might be a good opportunity to just let it grow out and then go grey gradually. I don't want to wait another 10 or 20 years and then have to spend a year growing out a full head of grey hair.

Scrumbleton · 23/03/2021 23:40

My hair is longer than it’s ever been and I actually love it. Avoided long hair before and kept it shoulder length as I thought I was too old at 50 for long hair. DD has touched up my blonde roots monthly having checked which shade and peroxide concentration my hairdresser uses and though not my usual highlights she’s done a fine job. Saved a fortune. DD also does a cracking blow dry
