Items in child's bed

Our 4-year-old keeps accumulating items they like to have with them in bed. Currently have a towel, a blanket, a flannel, a sleeping bag, eight cuddly toys and about a dozen books (in addition to actual bedding, naturally). No massive attachment to any of it, just a preference to have it all. The child fits easily into their current bed by themselves, but it gets rather cramped with all this additional stuff. Since the set keeps growing, one parent wants to give the child a full-size single bed in order to accommodate more stuff. I think we should do some parenting and limit the set of stuff the child has in bed to what fits in bed. Apparently I'm being very unreasonable. Am I?

I’m 28 and I still do this. It drives my boyfriend mad.

I sleep with a blanket, small flight pillow, 3 stuffed toys and a microwaveable hot water bottle (not heated when sleeping)

I’m not sure why I do it. It’s comfort. Something I’ve clearly never grown out of!
I’m not ashamed though!

There's absolutely no harm in keeping lots of stuff in the bed.

You're both being unreasonable.

I'm struggling to understand why it's one or the other to be honest! Just get your growing child a normal sized bed 🤷‍♀️ Worry about what goes into it, or 'parenting issues' after!

At 4 they'd be getting to the point of needing a full size single, regardless.

Ds2 piles all his stuff in bed. I confiscate the lego and move the books. He still sleeps on his massive collection of lego tyres, though :o

2 out of 3 of my kids did / do this .
I find books , teddies ,pens ,art stuff , extra throws, clothes .
She has always loved her bed , never has sleep problems.
I on the other hand are like the princess and the pea , i can't sleep if i suspect there is 1 tiny crumb in the bed .
I don't think it matters , she has a good tidy and makes her own bed if i ask her to.
We're all different.

Ah bollocks to it, I'm 44 fgs and even I still have a cuddly monkey in my bed. DH does not object.
