Ok, I know it's Saturday evening and not especially late, but...

  1. We're in fucking lockdown;
  2. They are shouting, screaming and whooping;
  3. I'm volunteering at a vaccination centre tomorrow morning and want to have an early night.

Please talk me down.

Oh, and the party is literally inches from my bedroom.

Why can't people just talk without needing to shriek? Angry

OP posts:
TwoZeroTwoZero · 13/03/2021 22:02

Ring the police then?

MuddleMoo · 13/03/2021 22:02

Is it just their household? If so I think YABU until about 11 when they should shut up hopefully.

FortyFiedWine · 13/03/2021 22:05

I won't talk you down as I've just reported my neighbours for the same. I went out to talk to them and their excuse was It's Someone's Birthday. About 30 people gathered in the street, barbecue and fireworks.
Whoopie doo for the birthday boy or girl. It's still lockdown here in England.

TrickorTreacle · 13/03/2021 22:07

You're dressing this up as being a covid issue.

The real issue is that they're making a racket. You don't have much ground in complaining really unless it goes on much later than 11PM. Give it until 11:30PM.

HollowTalk · 13/03/2021 22:12

I'd report them. It's lockdown ffs

LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 13/03/2021 22:14

No it's not.

I'm not "dressing it up", but it's adding to my annoyance, particularly since I live on my own and have hardly seen any friends or family this year.
OP posts:
MuddleMoo · 13/03/2021 22:16

Well if it's breaking the covid rules then YANBU.

But not for the noise (though my sympathy it must be REALLY annoying). Just the covid rule breaking.

Fluffmonkey82 · 13/03/2021 22:16

You have my sympathies, the people next door to me were having people over during lockdown last year and the shrieking was going on to midnight. On the fourth occasion taking advice of my neighbour who lives round the corner from me and could also hear them as they were outside too I called 101 not expecting it to be taken seriously but the police turned up. They probably know it was us and haven't spoke to us since, they have only been here a year took the house when the elderly mother died and have never spoke to us before so getting to the stage I don't really care. I wish I could live in a tent, trying to save up to move but that will be a long way away! Hope it ends soon, so inconsiderate...

LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 13/03/2021 22:17

I do realise it's not very late, but do they really need to scream?

OP posts:
Easterbunnygettingready · 13/03/2021 22:17

Police. Why wouldn't you? It's illegal.

LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 13/03/2021 22:17

@TwoZeroTwoZero

Ring the police then?
Seems an overreaction.
OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 13/03/2021 22:17

Ring the police.

Or at least log it with 101 which I believe is the officially sanctioned MN response.

Thehop · 13/03/2021 22:18

Ring non emergency and report them. They come out very quickly

Wondermule · 13/03/2021 22:19

@LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour

Call the police and they will break it up for you. Otherwise stop complaining. There’s nothing we can do to help is there?

Hah! That was the same neighbours' excuse the last time they had an illegal party. Hmm
OP posts:
MuddleMoo · 13/03/2021 22:20

They could at least be quiet about their rule breaking. It's as if they want to be reported!

I doubt they will, tbh.

The point is that posting on here and sharing my outrage is something to do while I can't sleep.

Wondermule · 13/03/2021 22:22

You haven’t even tried!!

LemonMeringueThreePointOneFour · 13/03/2021 22:23

And now I've got fucking javelin arse. Guess I can't blame the neighbours for that, though...

OP posts:

How do you know! Are you in my bedroom?! Grin
OP posts:
Fluffmonkey82 · 13/03/2021 22:24

You share away I would probably do the same! The police will take it seriously but it's whether you want an atmosphere with them...It's the screaming I hate aswell.

Brefugee · 13/03/2021 22:25

just call the police. And call them next time. And the time after that. And the time after that.
