No picture but we’ve had a random selection of food for tea today: DD2, Lasagna and peas, DS1 and DD1, vegetable soup and mushroom and chive Chinese dumplings. Then, later on for me and DH: fish finger sandwich (with tomato, lettuce, gherkins, strong cheddar and Mayo all crammed between cheap sliced white bread).

@Backtoschool101

Last week i did a stuffed turkwy with rice chickpeas and spices. Was very nice. Moist not dry
Can I have the recipe for this?
Backtoschool101 · 09/03/2021 22:33

@greendress789 fry some onions lightly then add rice, salt, chickpeas, pepper, cumin, chilli flakes and black pepper. A little veg stock if you fancy it. Then half cook it in water. When its half cooked stuff the turkey with it. Then use butter or marg rub loads under the skin and on top of the skin. Then a bit if salt and pepper on top. Cover tight with foil.and put in the oven. And a little bit of water to the oven dish wotha bit more veg stock. But not too much. Cook until the meats cooked through. Mine took just over 2.5 hours. But ut was a huge turkey. After about an hour remove the foil and baste and replace without foil to make up the 2.5 hours. Baste again before serving. You might want to top up the water/stock if it evaporates.

Love this thread!

Amazed by the number of people subsisting off incredibly light meals with no carb whatsoever
A lot of typical 'carby' food makes me uncomfortable after eating,it hurts my stomach.
I rarely eat pasta, rice or white bread for example,it is not inviting to me as I know how it will make me feel. So if I do have those things,it is usually in a very small amount. Carbs come from other sources too.

I dont have a picture but today I had a lentil and chickpea stew. It looked like vomit to be honest but tasted greatSmile
@QueenPaw are quorn nuggets good? I want to cut down on meat and never tried quorn
I quite like Quorn nuggets too but they don't taste of much- you taste the batter more than anything else.

Ordered a family platter from a local restaurant. They're either Lebanese or Moroccan not really sure but anyway, they never disappoint!

Thai green curry. Chicken thigh, carrots, cauliflower and broccoli with a good squeeze of lime and some sliced red chili.

userxx · 10/03/2021 07:59

@Inpersuitofhappiness That isn't a roast dinner, you've been doing it very wrong I'm afraid.

PickAChew · 10/03/2021 08:03

This was a week ago. Turmeric chicken and roasted baby potatoes in a bravas sauce.

I feel like I should have taken a picture of last night’s oven chips, fish fingers and beans for balance to all the amazing food on this thread!
