Yes - Team Meghan

No - Team Windsor

Nothing - Don’t really care!

OP posts:

However, they do seem to be ignoring the royal tradition of turning a blind eye to press reports, getting visibly angry and fighting back. The press are loving this, as it's going to run and run.

I meant the royal family usually turn a blind eye. Megan and Harry certainly aren't turning a blind eye. They are fighting back. Don't forget this runs deeper for Harry. He blames the press for his mother's death.

LegAndSparkle · 08/03/2021 20:08

Oprah is a fake celeb?

She is a real celeb but a fake celeb mate. Meghan invited her to her wedding after meeting her once in a professional context - who does that?!

Eaumyword · 08/03/2021 20:10

@wewillmeetagain

When you're falling out with people left right and centre, at what point do you start to think the problem might not be them???
This!

Edward and Sophie's children are Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn.
Smart move for those not in direct ascension, who rejects potential higher titles for their children, knowing that they will still have a life of privilege, but less royal pressure.
Anne knew what she was doing, good for her.

No idea what you're on about.

You are obviously here to just create trouble.

Isn't there someone you would rather be?

Roussette · 08/03/2021 20:13

LegAndSparkle · 08/03/2021 20:14

Hahaha... he chose to have this interview to sweep the whole thing under the carpet.

So the distinguishing feature between Meghan and Andrew is the former is more cunning and aviricious in which interviewer to choose to help launder their reputation.

But why turn on his family? Seems he is blaming them as much.
Dugee · 08/03/2021 20:14

@mainsfed

There seems to be tacit acceptance for PA in your posts, in the way you describe Harry and Meghan as 'baiting' the media versus Andrew keeping a low profile.

What a disgusting thing to say.

SunlessSea · 08/03/2021 20:16

@Roussette you seem a little over invested. There’s no need to be rude to me. I’ve read these threads over the last couple of years as it’s been interesting to watch it all unfold. First time I’ve commented. But I have noticed your constant presence on every thread and just wondered.

KeflavikAirport · 08/03/2021 20:16

Team they can all get in the bin.

Dugee · 08/03/2021 20:20

I don't know, I was only commenting on the relationship with the press.

Other posters have mentioned sibling rivalry and that Harry has always seemed a bit disgruntled, perhaps he was never happy with his status as spare, rather than heir. Megan came along and offered him an escape route? Fair enough, he's quite far down the line of succession now, so in those terms he isn't relevant but their mistake was to not go quietly (in my opinion).

Maybe I was wrong and Rousette does have the same reach as a tabloid journalist.

😂😂😂

whittingtonmum · 08/03/2021 20:26

Team Republic here. The idea that one person and their firstborn children have the god given right to reign over us - even if restrained by the constitution and thus no actual power - feels really absurd in 2021. Hereditary peerages have already been abolished. So should the monarchy once the current Queen sadly passes away. Not sure most people would be that keen on King Charles anyway.

Anon778833 · 08/03/2021 20:29

‘Why turn on his family?’

Maybe because they aren’t actually very nice people?

You don’t have to think your family are great people just because they’re bloody royal and so many uk citizens still want to brown nose them (pathetic). After Diana’s demise, what did he have left to teach humility?

William isn’t a very nice person from what I can see. Harry really doesn’t have much of a right to complain about being cut off financially. But at least he’s trying to stick up for his wife by leaving with her. I personally saw them splitting up, him staying here and she going back to the US with their child / children. I’m no fan of the royals, any of them. But I’d say that he’s made a stand at least.

Sprining · 08/03/2021 20:29

It is not simply a private family feud. Racism is against the law in public institutions, as is mental health discrimination including unwillingness to make adequate support arrangements

What MM is bringing to light or is alleging, is that our highest public funded institution, the monarchy, may have failed its legal obligations

SunlessSea · 08/03/2021 20:30

Same name since I logged in here over 10 years ago.

LolaSmiles · 08/03/2021 20:31

I think the severity of the accusations are unprecedented for a senior royal (I maybe wrong but I can't think of any), so it's plausible that the press are also nervous about covering it.
I hadn't thought about that. That's a good point.

I've perhaps been too suspicious of how close some media people are to those with money/influence to see the more reasonable consideration, that if they report or speculate then any action involving him could collapse.

cinammonbuns · 08/03/2021 20:35

@littlepattilou the fact you won’t engage with someone with a different view to you says more about you that them. Though I am happy you don’t enrage with people with superior critical thinking skills than yourself, in my experience talking to people like you is like trying to talk to a brick wall. I’d rather let nature take its course on racists than waste my time on them.

Zevia · 08/03/2021 20:38

I really dont follow the royal family closely, but the thinly veiled racism of the British media was on full display when Harry and Meghan married and it's no wonder they wanted out. I have no reason to doubt the truthfulness of their accusations. It's a vile institution generally though, and I'll be glad when the monarchy is scrapped.

cinammonbuns · 08/03/2021 20:41

@Quirrelsotherface hello will you back to tell us where MM said everyone in Britain is racist? I’m sure you won’t as it obviously didn’t happen but I’m just wondering as you did seem so insistent.

SecretSpAD · 08/03/2021 20:41

Another for team republican here 🙋🏼‍♀️

Personally I think Meghan should dump his ass and get a man who is less of a dickhead.....but I do have limited sympathy for her.

I'm the Archie in my family - my mother was biracial and, like Meghan, married into a pan old, aristocratic family. My mother actually had similar skin tone to Meghan - something she blamed on her Scottish father and his paler than pale skin. As a result she didn't really encounter racism directly, although when she was growing up she said that people always thought that her mother (Nigerian) was the nanny. My grandmother definitely experienced racism, but she didn't allow it to affect her self worth and she often felt sorry for those who abused her because it must be miserable to have such a narrow minded view of life. It's possible she was putting on a brave face, but that doesn't sound like the grandma I knew, but she died when I was a teenager so maybe I didn't really understand.

My mother never had any racist comments directed at her. Ever. In fact my poor father encountered more prejudice and rudeness for being a freckle red head.

My brother is the only one who resembles my mother - dark hair and eyes and a complexion that is slightly less on the rotting corpse side. My sister and I are pale red heads. However, I'm quite aware that before any of us were born there was speculation about our hair colour, our skin tone...

whittingtonmum · 08/03/2021 20:42

One thing I genuinely would like to know is if Harry challenged the racist member of his family at the time they were making the comment about Archie's skin colour.

If it would be me I would expect my husband to call out the racism then and there and tell the family member that these are racist remarks and that he expects them to never again utter racist remarks in general and about his unborn son in particular. I would have also demanded an apology at the time.

Surely that's a simple & effective way to deal with that kind of bs. Obviously if challenged and the family member persists in making racist comments maybe that's the time to call them out on national television to a global audience?

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 08/03/2021 20:43

Why do we need to pick a team? 2 sides to every story. Well 3 sides in this case if you include the press.

We don't know all the facts.

PersimmonTree · 08/03/2021 20:47

Indeed. But Meghan vs Windsors won't be appearing on a court case list any time, ever, as the queen thinks she's a bit special.

Where's Uhtred when you need him?
