@RubyViolet

Wouldn't George then be heir to the throne as he is next in line after William?

I am not sure about this. Wouldn’t the line pass to Harry ?

No, it would be George as he's already in the line of succession.

If there is issue from her alleged union with Prince Harry, the Windsors will thicken their watery, thin blue blood and Spencer pale skin and ginger hair with some rich and exotic DNA. Miss Markle’s mother is a dreadlocked African-American lady from the wrong side of the tracks who lives in LA, and even the sourest spinster has to admit that the 35-year-old actress is extremely easy on the eye

As someone in a mixed race marriage, I would not like to be known as purveyor of rich exotic DNA.

The Prime Minister has done something I agree with. He will not comment publicly on Royal Family matters.

Though this was after he had lied about his respect for the Queen. He would never have done the prorogation that was then deemed unlawful if he did.

tobee · 08/03/2021 17:33

So for the next generation of royals (assuming they're still around) do you think whoever Princess Charlotte marries will get the same amount of shit that Prince George and Prince Louis's will get? (Assuming none of them are in same sex marriages)

Jangirl2018 · 08/03/2021 17:35

@OliviaBensonsEyebrow

Andrew has slopes off and kept a low profiles. Megan and Harry keep baiting the media

Oh that makes it ok then. Of course he has kept a low profile he is a Prince accused of committing crimes. What don’t you understand? And why would you defend it?
If you call giving an interview ‘baiting the media’ I don’t know what to tell you. They left the Royal Family so they are free to give interviews, which are mot mandatory for anyone to watch. I’m still not sure what they have actually done ‘wrong’ Hmm

ancientgran · 08/03/2021 17:35

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

But they hate the firm and so he would not be interested in Prince regent surely?

Unless of course the pecking order played a part of his dislike?

Don't you think the Queen would change it? It was done to protect her as a 10 year old so over 80s years ago. If it was changed then it can be changed again.

I can't see it doing much for reconciling the family if it happened.

Donkeydonut · 08/03/2021 17:36

Some people on here are obsessed with being self appointed defenders of the royals. It’s not healthy, every thread I click on they are there.

GintyMcGinty · 08/03/2021 17:36

I was Team Meghan till this interview now I have completely changed my mind.

Where did I say it was ok and in where did I defend Prince Andrew?

If you try really hard, you may be able to think logically.

Until the FBI charge him, arrest him, or come over and interview him what do you want people to do? He has been accused of something, the FBI are supposed to be investigating it. He's had to stand down from his royal duties, he is in disgrace isn't he. What more do you want people to do? Come on here and run him down? Well I think that's been done. Do a critique of his TV interview? That's been done as well.

No one has defending Prince Andrew so maybe take your own advice and calm down.

Tell us what would be the correct thing for us to do about Andrew and then tell us how that has anything to do with Harry and Meghan.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 08/03/2021 17:41

I do think the bridge has been burned, crumbled into dust, put in a lead casket and sealed in concrete ancientgran

There is no way back from this at all.

And that is a bloody big shame. By making it all so grubby and public there will be side and stink eyes forever more.

There will be hurts all round that can never be healed. Not truly.

I suppose the rules of succession could be changed. Who knows?

But if you choose to step out of royal life (absolutely fine) then you shouldn’t get to wander in and out at will.

LolaSmiles · 08/03/2021 17:42

That's my no.1 on the checklist of why we don't need to talk about Andrew!
There's a difference between whether we need to talk about Andrew and why the press are treating Andrew and H&M differently.

I 100% think the press need to talk about Andrew and think it's disgusting that he seems to have been allowed to slope off into the background. I'm cynical and think that some higher up media types are probably on the fringes of the whole disgusting affair and are all too happy to let sleeping dogs lie.

I also think that Harry and Megan have misjudged the way they handled their split from the royal family and misjudged the public's appetite for a wealthy couple moaning that taxpayers won't pay their security bill and mean daddy has stopped subbing their lifestyle. Unfortunately people who court the media are going to end up in the media more. It's difficult to set yourself up as an influential celebrity couple by complaining about your need for privacy whilst airing your dirty laundry in public.

I really dislike the suggestions on many of these threads that any negative view of Harry and Meghan equals racism, and any negative opinion of their actions or public interviews should be dismissed with 'but what about Andrew?' The press shouldn't be letting the Andrew thing drop, but it's fairly obvious that if there's 2 people (one courts the media and the other is in hiding), then the public will comment more on the person choosing to be in the press every 5 seconds.

longwayoff · 08/03/2021 17:44

Yesterday, the Mail quoted a 'palace insider' to the effect that, prior to his marriage, the Buckingham Palace press team referred to Prince Harry as The Hostage. Make of that what you will.

Jangirl2018 · 08/03/2021 17:44

@OliviaBensonsEyebrow

So why even make such a statement in response to my post? Think really hard about what you are implying with your words. I am very logical, actually so your insult is irrelevant, i’m sorry you had to resort to it. Perhaps if you think really hard, you may be able to come up with a reason why you felt the need do make excuses for Prince Andrew.

sst1234 · 08/03/2021 17:44

I wonder what would have happened if the purse strings hadn’t been cut off. Would there have been these accusations from this couple. Or are they just punishing the firm for cutting financial support. Given how aggrieved they are about the money, this actually feels like revenge for that.

ancientgran · 08/03/2021 17:46

@tobee

That would be interesting, the first royal same sex marriage. How about transgender?

Seriously though things do change, the idea of Princess Margaret marrying a divorcee was a scandal but divorces are ten a penny in the royal family. Even Margaret got divorced. I wonder what she made of it all. Actually thinking about her and her family her children have never been made a prince or princess have they? Can't remember their names but I think her daughter was a very pretty bridesmaid for Diana. I think she was known as Lady something but not sure about the son.

Roussette · 08/03/2021 17:46

I agree too.

However, he is on shaky ground considering he called women with burkas letterboxes, and other stuff.

Some people on here are obsessed with being self appointed haters of everything that M&H does. It's not healthy, every thread I click on they are there
Works both ways...

Grendalsmum · 08/03/2021 17:47

I'm not a fan of the Firm or the Gruesome Twosome so l'm really team fuck off the whole over-privaledged gang of you. Viva la republic!
That said anyone who is surprised that an outfit whose entire reason for existing is based on the idea that some people are inherently more worthy of having their toothpaste squeezed than others also turn out to be a bit racist, then they really need to get out more.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 08/03/2021 17:47

Longwayoff - crikey.

GiveIrelandBackToTheIrish · 08/03/2021 17:48

OliviaBensonsEyebrow · 08/03/2021 17:48

There's a difference between whether we need to talk about Andrew and why the press are treating Andrew and H&M differently.

Thank you for explaining my point more clearly than I did.

Also important to remember that Andrew (and the rest of the RF) use palace PR whereas Megan hired her own Hollywood PR (who don't understand the RF and British tabloids). She was badly advised when she chose to start a war with the Daily Mail.

RubyViolet · 08/03/2021 17:50

@SheldonesqueIsUnwell

It’s an interesting twist. If you follow the possibility that it is William that has upset Harry and he can prove it. Charles, this is my feeling, won’t rule for as long as the Queen. Therefore if William was made to abdicate over this incident the odds are quite high for George to need a Regent. It would be Harry.
Roussette · 08/03/2021 17:50

Lola

Fair enough. It is rather frustrating though... when there is news about PA, it gets little traction on here

I'm old and I would hate to think of this in my family. Well obviously not exactly this but a commoner equivalent. Two of my sons are married and their wives hate each other, I find it really sad as my sons get pulled further and further apart so maybe I'm just scared of it going nuclear and would like to think it can be solved.
