I lean more towards Republicanism - I don't feel it's right for one family to be curtseyed to and have multiple palaces left vacant for months on end in this day and age.
I have respect and sadness for HMQ to process this and the Andrew debacle in her mid-nineties, but all this bad behaviour lifts that royal curtain too high and affords an unpleasant backstage peek.
I think this interview is tasteless and just because someone says something, it doesn't mean it is true.
I could actually believe that comments might have been made about the baby's colour but there are so many other accusations and statements that H&M have made during this interview, some of which they are now retracting or altering, all it makes me think of is Kardashian style reality TV blurting, with no filter and a sense of doing whatever it takes to be seen as relevant celebrities.

How do you form such absolute conclusions about someone from what you’ve read about?

I've had a lot of friends, relatives and acquaintances comment about the colour of my kids' skin, before birth and after. And not just white people either. It's not great, but it's not the most insidious aspect of racism either. People who have the sense to keep their mouths shut can be just as racist in their reactions or lack of reactions. So I don't think it really matters who said it. The comment was probably part of a pattern over time of subtle things, by the person who made the comment and by people who didn't. There was also the cultural difference. It probably was intolerable for Megan, to be fair.

I don't like meghan but I voted YABU, because her allegations are very serious- racism and her severe mental health problems, and they must be addressed. I think the tabloids have been racist and in this day and age, its not acceptable.

People think they are defending the monarchy by ignoring Meghan's testimony but they are also saying that vulnerable people with suicidal thoughts should not share their feelings. If the public doesn't believe a Duchess why would they believe you. Meghan probably wouldn't read your tweet/post that you don't believe her, but someone with mental health issues probably would.

And if you are saying that institutional racism/gaslighting/ignorance about mental health are part and parcel of being a member of the Royal Family, then why are we still preserving it?

The whole thing is just so...grubby. I wonder about the timing of the interview too - it seems to be poorly judged given that there is a global pandemic affecting millions of people, and that Prince Philip is seriously ill in hospital. I wonder why they have chosen this moment to tell 'their' truth. Maybe time will tell on this one.

With regards to the racism claim around Archie, it's abhorrent if it happened in the way that it is described. In my opinion however MM does seem to have form for saying something that then transpires as not entirely true. Surely if someone had said such a thing, H&M would have no need or desire to protect their identity, and would want them to face the full scrutiny of the media etc. The whole thing drip-feeding of information does seem like it's designed to whip up interest and keep them relevant.

My thoughts entirely.
If the purpose of the interview was to shed light on institutional racism within the royal family and outline ways the royal family was complicit in the horrible racism directed towards Meghan in the press then why withhold that information?

Then again, if they give drip feeds then they can milk their departure for more money and exposure, which is interesting for a couple who apparently want privacy and don't want their private lives in the public eye.

The acting consort has said many unsavoury things over the decades but we don’t tolerate racism in today’s society. Obviously l don’t know what the conversation was but l am wondering what would happen if it’s proved ( not sure how it can be unless it’s recorded, ) If it were to be Charles or William that is being accused, and it will come out...what would that mean for the succession and Harry’s position. If William stood aside would his children no longer be heirs ?

Now seeing in the news that H & M contradicted each other about this racist comment. Harry apparently gave the impression that it was before the wedding along the lines of will your children be OK if they are dark, will they suffer for it. Not as Meghan implied while she was pregnant and a hope that the baby wouldn't be dark skinned.

Not seen the interview or extra clips myself so not sure how accurate this is.

Very much doubt he would have to even though it's a hideous comment. Certain other royals have done and said even worse things than that and are still there.
If it turns out to be William there will be some sort of statement about it claiming that he didn't mean it the way Meghan thought or whatever....

They've both sat on a world stage and said that the UK is a racist country. It's unforgivable. She breezed onto the scene with all the grace of a bull in a china shop and when she didn't get everything she wanted she threw her toys out of her pram. She has fallen out with every single member of her family apart from her mother (who she didn't live with growing up) and now, lo and behold, Harry has fallen out with his.
A textbook narcissist who has now proclaimed she is a victim of racism and has been suicidal. Making it very difficult for anyone to criticize. It's manipulative and extremely dangerous behaviour.

I totally agree with you. And having been on these threads for a long time I can tell you what the answers will be.
