Put a clean set of bedding on the bed this morning before I left for work. Came home to find my cat had puked a hairball up all over it so had to strip the lot off, including the quilt. Quilt had been in the dryer for almost three hours and still isn't dry and none of my bedding is dry either. So now rather than doing what I'd planned, I'm stuck trying to get some bedding dry so I can actually get to bed at a reasonable time tonight. Fed up and honestly not sure what else to try with my cat (she is on special hairball food, gets malt paste, gets brushed as much as she'll let me)

I have horrible period pains too and really wanted to lie down with a hot water bottle for a bit which isn't helping!

My cat pissed on my bed and so I stripped and washed it (feather duvet so took fucking ages to dry) then no word of a lie the little gobshite watched me remake the bed and then when I went for a piss in the correct receptacle she DID IT AGAIN

let’s just say she was lucky there was a catflap for her to get quickly out through

Bastarding cats and children - the worst for vomming, pissing and/or shitting on beds imo.

At least my dog gives me the stomach clenching pumping noise beforehand so I can run her outside 😂

Yes I love all members of my family

Etulosba · 06/03/2021 21:57

I've had cats all my life. Never seen a hairball yet.

Lineofconcepcion · 06/03/2021 21:57

These 400 thread count sheets are fabulous, really lovely.

@Etulosba Envy

2 long haired cats, litter siblings one regularly regurgitated his food because he inhaled it at speed, the other is hairball city despite special food and fur ball paste!!!

SoulofanAggron · 06/03/2021 22:02

I think I would've just picked/scrubbed at it lightly and then turned it over. Smile

But yes as a PP suggested, bestie has throws that go over the bed to stop them getting fur on it etc.

BehindMyEyes · 06/03/2021 22:03

@RandomMess

We have throws on top of all our beds to save them from puke and the fur/fluff.
Such an easy answer . Agree . It's not complicated.
Alann01 · 06/03/2021 22:07

Has the cat appologised yet?

Toddlerteaplease · 06/03/2021 22:08

My cat Always manages to puke on my fresh sheets. If they've been on less than 24 hours, and not on the side I sleep
On, I just wipe it off with an antibacterial wipe.

TroysMammy · 06/03/2021 22:11

I once put on clean, white bedding. My old cat came in, jumped on the bed, shook his head and splattered blood everywhere from a cut on his ear he'd just obtained from scrapping with another cat.

I'm a bit of a hoarder so had at least 4 other sets of bedding, for the one bed I have.

Catpuke · 06/03/2021 22:11

I'm sorry I ruined your day :(

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 06/03/2021 22:11

Cats are bastards for vomming on the least easy to wash or clean thing in the Entire House. My dearly departed, loved beyond belief cat used to make his way across tiles, amtico, you name it, to a coir doormat. Picking bits of hair ball / felix out of that was NOT my favourite occupation.

Still, the award today goes to my dog who occasionally gets travel sick. The little bugger scraped up the puppy pads and towels I’d carefully put down to chuck up all over the seat and down the side Envy

bigdecisionaboutwork · 06/03/2021 22:19

If u can face it, iron the damp bedsheets and duvet cover with an iron set to non steam - concentrate on the seams - and then pop it back in the dryer - it will hugely hurry up the drying process

toolatetofixate · 06/03/2021 22:30

My cat once pissed and shat through my duvet and it soaked through the mattress too. Late night trip to ikea to buy a new mattress. That was the fucking worst.

Loopyloututu2 · 06/03/2021 22:35

Lock your bedroom door in and don’t let her in there? I don’t let my cat in any of the upstairs rooms as they are carpeted and he sometimes pees and shits on them.
Cat shit is the worst smell!

Justanothermammy · 06/03/2021 22:41

Put on a movie have a glass of wine and sleep on the couch !!

GreyHare · 06/03/2021 22:42

I feel your pain OP, My cat pretty much lives under the blanket on the bed, and likes to puke up a hairball, so we have a spare duvet for said emergencies although the dog was problem last night/this morning as his anal glands oozed onto the duvet and I didn't realise until I got in bed and got hit by the rancid fish/shit stench, so had to get the spare duvet out at 1am after I had been cleaning up after a vomming cat all evening. It's a good job I love my creatures.

N.B. I'm guessing many Mumsnetters will now be having the vapours at the thought of dogs and cats on beds

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2021 22:57

She has not apologised. She's grooming on my bare mattress right now. It's a good job she's cute.

Sheets are still slightly damp but I start work at 5am so really need to get to bed (up at 4am, yay 😭😭😭) I've left the hot water bottles under the quilt while I do my teeth and such so they'll hopefully be okay.

I've just ordered one of those weighted blankets. I'm not looking forward to Cheddar discovering it, as the cover is not removable.

that’s disgusting
withmycoffee · 07/03/2021 06:17

@QuestionableMouse

Thank you!

I spent an absolute fortune on Dunelm Hotel collection bedding and I hate the feel of it. It's meant to be soft and smooth and it's crunchy so now I'm wary of buying online. Will have a look at those though thank you!

I avoid anything called 'Hotel' as in my experience it is never anything like any bedding I've ever slept in at a hotel. Try the Dorma collection sold at Dunelm . It is decent and smooth and lasts.
Naughtyvegan · 07/03/2021 09:48

That cat does not look sorry! I went to bed one night and found a small brown mark on the duvet. Thinking "please be chocolate, please don't be shit". One my of my delightful felines had in fact wiped their arse on my bedding. Had to pull the unwashed set from the washing basket so that I could have un - shit stained bedding and the following day washed them both.

mygrandchildrenrock · 07/03/2021 15:06

I'm sorry I ruined your day :(
She did apologise!
