Put a clean set of bedding on the bed this morning before I left for work. Came home to find my cat had puked a hairball up all over it so had to strip the lot off, including the quilt. Quilt had been in the dryer for almost three hours and still isn't dry and none of my bedding is dry either. So now rather than doing what I'd planned, I'm stuck trying to get some bedding dry so I can actually get to bed at a reasonable time tonight. Fed up and honestly not sure what else to try with my cat (she is on special hairball food, gets malt paste, gets brushed as much as she'll let me)

I have horrible period pains too and really wanted to lie down with a hot water bottle for a bit which isn't helping!

And one of many reasons we don't have a cat.

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2021 20:35

@EveryDayIsADuvetDay

My cat saves her hairballs for when I have zoom meetings mostly - but at least she does them on the wooden floor.

How far away is your sister - could you borrow it back?

Maybe 30 mins, each way. She's at work though.

Cat usually saves hers for my bathroom rug (which is vastly preferable, cause that's a lot easier to wash and dry!)

Happened to me too but it was a child not a cat who vommed.

Had to text get dp to bring a new duvet home with him from work at 10pm, as it wouldn't fit in our machine. Just a cheap £15 one from tesco, but I now have a spare duvet!

RandomMess · 06/03/2021 20:36

We have hardly any carpet in our house, she will traipse over wooden floor, parquet and laminate to reach them with the dog in hot pursuit in case it's regurgitated cat biscuits rather than fur ball 🤮🤮🤮🤮

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 06/03/2021 20:39

Summer duvet plus some woollen blankets?

justlonelystars · 06/03/2021 20:40

Our cats specifically leave the amtico floored kitchen to go upstairs to vomit on the carpet. Delightful creatures.
Get yourself set up with a blanket and cup of tea on the sofa. Feel better soon Flowers

WindyPudding · 06/03/2021 20:54

I feel your pain, I have a vomiting cat. Urgh.

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2021 20:55

Thank you!

She usually aims for the bathroom rug but today it was my nice clean (new 😣😣) bedding!

I should have just gone out and bought new but I didn't feel like facing the supermarket! ☹️

Cats only spew when it’s the last thing you need, and they never spew on hard flooring, always the carpet/fabric.

At least you noticed before you got into bed, I suppose!

I very nearly sat in it 🤢🤢🤢

It was absolutely the last thing I wanted tonight.

Me too, or dog. Noisy, smelly things hehe (unpopular opinion I know!)
missbridgerton · 06/03/2021 21:01

We've got a really thick cotton throw on our bed to save it from the dogs.

I've just come upstairs to find that they've literally scruffed it all back and are happily led on my clean white sheet.

Hmm

Hope your bedding dries and you can get into bed soon!

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2021 21:17

Quilt finally seems dry. I've chucked it on the bed with a couple of hot water bottles under just in case. Just waiting for one set of bedding to dry now.

This is why I don't wash on a night!

Also I'm looking at more sheets/bedding sets. So hard to judge online how they'll feel! (I'm quite fussy - IKEA GAASPA was my go to until they stopped making it. So soft and smooth!)

mainsfed · 06/03/2021 21:24

OP, I have a range of sheets in quality. Here are the bargains I’ve found:

Tesco have an offer on Silent Night ‘A Touch Of Luxury’ £5 for double sheet at the moment, soooo soft, but it is polyester.

Debenhams The Collection sheets are actually very good, 100% cotton, I bought a double sheet for £10.

Debenhams white brushed cotton bedding all half price. The duvet cover was £20!

Debenhams 400tc cotton sateen range, half price (full set - cover, 4 x pillow cases, fitted sheet all £70).

M&S Autograph range and Sanderson sets still going strong after 15 years.

missymoomoomoomoomoo · 06/03/2021 21:26

Protective sick blanket on the bed. My old cat used to do this and that was the only solution

missymoomoomoomoomoo · 06/03/2021 21:26

Wilkos do fleece blankets that you can wash in the machine

Flackattack · 06/03/2021 21:30

Our cats always do this!!! I leave a satin type throw on the bed so I only have to wash that if it happens / satin type as it doesn’t soak through!!!

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2021 21:31

Thank you!

I spent an absolute fortune on Dunelm Hotel collection bedding and I hate the feel of it. It's meant to be soft and smooth and it's crunchy so now I'm wary of buying online. Will have a look at those though thank you!

😆😆😆

It's a good job they are cute as well as disgusting.

Toilenstripes · 06/03/2021 21:33

Please try her on a raw food diet. It’s more expensive but in the end it’s better for their digestive system.

Toilenstripes · 06/03/2021 21:34

We started our cat on PurrForm in January and she’s doing great. No constipation, diarrhoea or sick. And the litter tray isn’t stinky.

MRex · 06/03/2021 21:35

My old longhair cat was a menace for hairballs. I moved him onto Royal Canin hairball biscuits, and it reduced the problem a lot. Keep a blanket on the bed that you can chuck in the wash instead of having to do all the bedding.

QuestionableMouse · 06/03/2021 21:40

She's currently getting www.viovet.co.uk/Carnilove-Duck-Pheasant-for-Adult-Cats-Hairball-Control/c36948/?sct_t=1615066714&sct_q=hairball+cat+food&sct_r=9 and felix as good as it looks wet food. She's incredibly fussy though and it's a struggle to get her to eat (she's even sniffed fresh chicken and walked away from it)

Oh bless you. My cat had a horrible habit of peeing on my bed, but it was always last thing at night before I went to bed. I found myself in tears driving to the nearest big Tesco at stupid o clock at night for a new duvet on a couple of occasions before I surrendered and just banned her from my bedroom. I had to buy a new mattress in the end. It’s so hard because you love them to bits, but absolutely understand your frustration. Hope your sheets dry quickly and you can chill out. Look on the positive side - at least it’s not pee! Blush
