Put a clean set of bedding on the bed this morning before I left for work. Came home to find my cat had puked a hairball up all over it so had to strip the lot off, including the quilt. Quilt had been in the dryer for almost three hours and still isn't dry and none of my bedding is dry either. So now rather than doing what I'd planned, I'm stuck trying to get some bedding dry so I can actually get to bed at a reasonable time tonight. Fed up and honestly not sure what else to try with my cat (she is on special hairball food, gets malt paste, gets brushed as much as she'll let me)

I have horrible period pains too and really wanted to lie down with a hot water bottle for a bit which isn't helping!

I feel your pain!

Shut the doors of the rooms you don’t want your cat in. Easiest option. If your cat does leave a horrible soggy hair ball, it’s unfortunate but the surface will come fine if you quickly clean it. I’ve used the spray for cleaning up cat poo & other times vanish.

The wee on the bed.. had that one Xmas, got rid of the mattress & bought a new one. Don’t bother trying to clean it.. it’s a lost cause!

Honestly it must have been there for hours because it had soaked right through to the quilt which was quite wet.

Cat is both very fluffy and does over groom some. She is very sensitive and hates being brushed but I do try to brush her as much as I can. It's a work in progress. I've ordered some of the royal canin food. She's pretty damn fussy too so hopefully she'll eat it!

I think anyone with pets or children (or anyone at all!) with only 2 sets of bedding is absolutely nuts!

Buy a cheap cotton version from somewhere at least!

How on earth do you manage if you have guests? Or are ill yourself? Even a fever means you need to change the bedsheets daily!

CornedBeef451 · 08/03/2021 13:36

One of mine loves to pee in a basket of clean clothes so all laundry has to be locked away from her now.

Sorry you feel so rubbish, can you just use the thin quilt and lots of blankets? That's what we do as DH is freakishly hot so I end up with layers of blankets while he just has the thin quilt.

I normally have more, to be fair, but I upgraded to a king sized bed just before Christmas and passed all of my double bedding on to my mum and sister.

Don't know it this has been suggested but they don't like tin foil and I have used that in the past. One of my current cats loves to puke on soft furnishings like my office chair, handy cardigan etc Hmm. It's a good thing they're so cute.

Fit a security mortice rack lock on your bedroom door. £5 from eBay.

I have learnt to always have spare bedding!! After a bout of noro virus and having to strip down puked on pjs, bedding, sheets not had a spare so put them in my bed while stuff washed and dried, only to puke all over the kingsize stuff that only fits in the washer bit by bit- so we all had to sleep on the floor with towels to cover us... Now we always have back ups!!

My dog did similar the other day - sent out of bed time toilet was out for about 30 mins. Straight up stairs and just as i got my jammies on and pulled back the duvet dog jumps on to nick my spot and cocks his damn leg up the duvet and does a huge wee!! In 7 years he has never ever done that!!! He's tiny and did 3 wees marking his yard - where the hell did it all come from!?!?! Fresh bedding too - i was so looking forward to that nice clean fresh bed smell and the perfect sleep that comes with it and i had to strip the lot down and put the cheap spares on that dont smell that fresh from being in the cupboard a while. Wasnt happy - dog's face while peeing was similar to 'WTF am i doing?!?!?!'

But that's what you get with kids and pets - puke, poop, wee, mud, at any given opportunity and always on the stuff you dont want it on.

Mine does this too! Shoes, clean laundry or a hand bag. All have to be kept away! Not as if cat pee ever washes out either!! It's always there, even when you think it's gone, the slightest bit of warmth brings the smell back.

I stood behind a lady at the supermarket checkout and the smell of cat wee was eye watering. Very smartly dressed, neat and clean lady clearly took a lot of pride in her appearance but was clearly the owner of a serial wee-er. Probably smelt fine when she put it on and her body heat brought the smell out. I had to bin so much with my cat, turns out she didnt like the husband - she hasnt done it since he left!

@QuestionableMouse

Two sets of bedding, both wet (I chucked the dirty lot in the wash while I was at work)

I could lie down but the house has a weird layout and my bedroom is up two flights of stairs from the kitchen and I don't feel like running up and down to check on drying progress.

Bathsheets/big towels always handy as emergency bedding _

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius Ha ha, it's a sign of affection, your cat throwing up on your lap shows that she loves you! Smile

Ritpetit · 10/03/2021 16:34

My sister used to hoover her cat and reward with treats. Before you animal fans jump up and hit the ceiling, cat was fine about it. I am sure it was a gentle hoover....!
