Mine are:

Being exceptionally good at slicing bread (straight, even slices every time, even on squishy, unevenly shaped loaves)

Uncannily accurate at guessing the time when I haven’t looked at a clock for hours - I’m never more than a few minutes out.

Tell me the things you can do that are not that impressive!

Oops typo mistake I ment to say I can not rember this American Authors name.

Mrssheppard18 · 07/03/2021 18:53

I’m really really good at napping.

Hesma · 07/03/2021 18:54

I’m really good a baking fluffy sponge cakes and word in search puzzles just jump off the page at me. I am also really good at remembering names and phone numbers Wink

Wallyandasnog · 07/03/2021 18:55

I can open doors, pick things up and lots of other things with my feet.... quite useful if you have your hands full. I can hula hoop well too (at 38)

Alwaystired90 · 07/03/2021 18:57

Extremely fast and fluent reader. Spot grammatical/spelling/punctuation errors immediately. Highly intuitive when figuring people out. Good at blending make up. Exemplary at meat cutting 😂

cherish123 · 07/03/2021 19:05

Grammar, punctuation, lists, organisational skills, memory. While I was academic, I was terrible at sport, drama, music, art.

Corcory · 07/03/2021 19:06

I'm good at time management in that I will take clean clothes to a bedroom whilst i know I'm going past to the loo. Because I've got arthritis I always think about what I can do on route to doing something else to save time and amount of movement needed. I've arranged my kitchen in a way that items needed for common jobs are together. Cutlery, crockery etc. in the island next to the table with the dishwasher next to them, mugs above the kettle, utensils in the prep area etc.

shergar · 07/03/2021 19:07

I can make roses out of tissues, and I am totally immune to jetlag. The latter was incredibly useful when I worked all manner of shifts around the clock as a junior doctor. Never cared which ones I worked and always slept well after a shift, whether it was day or night, then moved back into daytime body clock straight away once Nights finished. No idea why, but it’s really useful for long haul travel too.

WorkHardPlayHard1 · 07/03/2021 19:12

I'm great at doing the weekly shop (before lockdown) at just under my budget of £100 a week, without doing the sums, i just know that its about £100's worth!!

It's gone to pot over lockdown though! ;)

SynchroSwimmer · 07/03/2021 19:14

Tipping liquids from one large container into a smaller - never spill

Smelling cigarette smoke from a quarter of a mile distance

Ifeelsuchafool · 07/03/2021 19:15

I can draw perfectly parallel, straight lines without a ruler.

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/03/2021 19:17

@ClarkeGriffin

Thats very intriguing/unasual that you can instinctly rember numbers like that,especially but struggle with doing maths as a subject .

ilovesushi · 07/03/2021 19:17

I can instantly see double spaces between words on any piece of text. It was very useful when working at a magazine. They would get me to check the whole issue for rogue spaces before it went to the printers.
I also have very good visual recall of patterns of text, so if I want to look up something in a book I can look for the pattern of that page and the area of the pattern where the quote or whatever is.
I feel like I should be putting these skills to some kind of use.

NotForSale · 07/03/2021 19:24

I'm a midwife and I can recognise how many beats the heartbeat is without counting (eg if I have a student and they are counting, I am always within 2beats per minute).
Also, baby's gender. To make conversation I often ask mums if they know what they're having, and honestly I get it right probably 99% of the time.

Seriously1996 · 07/03/2021 19:27

I can tell if a shelf or picture is slightly wonky just by looking at it . Even when others can’t see it

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/03/2021 19:40

@singingsoprano

How on earth can you rember after being at a place once, the directions of a place .

Plus Navigate without a map.

I think its sixth sense that you have got and that is pretty Cool skill to have .

Is it only certain places you instinctly know sense how to nativigate around them?

Do you get a sense of de vue often, (like a sense you have been there before in the past?
But obviously have not at all.!!

Have you found out if your Ancestors have ever lived in these places at all then?

But you only found out later on .

I am just really curious and intrigued by unausaul skills /instincts !

The human mind is even more intriguing and enlightening and puzzling , weird/wonderful and amazing the more I find out about it.

Polomint11 · 07/03/2021 19:42

My skill is that I never time anything I put in the oven, I just know (maybe by the smell?) When it'll be ready!
Also I don't remember peoples birthdays, but always remember people's star signs, people who I might not have seen in years...And I always get the skin really crispy on roast chicken!

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/03/2021 19:42

I wish had your unausaul skill
@singingsoprano

Shezow · 07/03/2021 19:45

When putting leftovers in a Tupperware, I am extremely accurate at guessing which one will be the perfect size Grin

Also I’m brilliant at makeup, the base to be precise, I always get completed for a flawless base at weddings even by makeup professionals whereas I take 5 mins to do it and never try Grin

I’ve always been jealous of people who can nap, I can’t nap doesn’t matter how shattered or sleep deprived I am

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/03/2021 19:47

@CrayonInThreeBits

What is a "Tertris" mean then?

ButterflyBitch · 07/03/2021 19:49

I can tell when people are lying. I thought it was just my husband and kids that I could catch out but when I started my uni course we had to play 2 truths and a lie to get to know each other and I guessed the lie 8/10. Everyone was quite surprised.
I’m also a super quick reader. I get accused of skim reading which annoys me.

Crumpetsforthequeen · 07/03/2021 19:50

Riddles, I'm incredibly good at riddles to the point DH gets mad at me for getting it right almost instantly lol

Shell4429 · 07/03/2021 19:50

I never forget a face, literally. I did one of those online tests for being a super recogniser and passed. A downside to this is every time I see a new face my brain tries to fit it to a face I have already seen. I must really annoy friends and family because I am always saying ‘doesn’t he/she look like... I can’t be the only person who does this. Would love to find someone else who does.

ButterflyBitch · 07/03/2021 19:51

Also spellings! And meaning of words. That’s probably from all the reading. My husband is a copywriter so words are his job but he will occasionally ask me the meaning of words and check spellings with me which I find quite funny.

anonanon · 07/03/2021 19:53

Haven't read all the posts but I am quite good at copying accents, and anticipating song lyrics; and I can sing all the books of bible to the Welsh tune of "The Ash Grove" 😁
