Why has ASMR turned so sexual?

ASMR is basically bain tingles when someone is doing something i.e reading a book, page turning, brushing hair, whispering etc.

However, i've noticed a lot of videos have sexual undertones these days.

Take this one for example;

It's a girl doing 'ear licking sounds' and it's basically her giving a bj to the mic.
And then she goes "go to myonlyfans account to see the no hand version.
Like what?? People would pay to watch a woman give a bj to a microphone??

That video just cringed me out

Best one I've seen recently is one of SouthernASMR's sandwich making videos 😴

When this came up on another thread and I said I liked SouthernASMR's shelf tidying in Dollar Tree some people were a bit 'you need to get out more'. But I have trouble getting to sleep quite a lot and it works for me so two fingers to that...

People unlucky enough not to experience ASMR get really sneery and hostile about it, for reasons I don't quite understand.

I like accidental ASMR. I couldn't be bothered with the videos. There's a guy at work with a very beautiful and very strong accent. Gives me the tingles every time we have a meeting. Unfortunately he's only a temp.

ASMR is definitely becoming more sexual☹️ I tend to stick to old favourites and tried and trusted ASMRtists like Gibi/Latte/calming escapes/crinklelovin as they tend to do lots of role plays and I LOVE those! Although I really like medical accidental ASMR, the OP was right Dr James Gill is brilliant.
@Titsywoo I saw some of that video with the woman massaging her friend, I think it might have been ASMR Daryha?? I felt like I was intruding on their foreplay 😳 it was very sexual !

I quite like the unintentional ones that aren't really ASMR. I watch a lot of sewing tutorials and the sounds of the big shears going through the fabric on a wooden table, or the "whoosh" of a rotary cutter are incredible.

I like watching the cleaning ones but even some of those have become too sexual. How can cleaning be sexy? I can’t understand why she does this because it’s obviously aimed at pervy men and not people like me who just like watching people clean!

I used to love Darya's videos but just like so many she turned slutty. I never watch her now. Plenty more out there who don't go down that route thankfully.

I have realised that one lady I used to love has not been on my list for over a year. No reason why, I just forgot about her until now.
Has anyone watched Twodae? In some of her vids she is mad as a hatter but i.m.o. she has one of the best voices for asmr.

Oh yeah I agree re. Darya. She used to make really unique and original videos but then mostly started massaging her friend. I've given up watching hers now.

I feel like African Xhosa ASMR is really underrated. There’s something about her voice and mannerisms that give me that sleepy lethargic feeling. Plus she’s not making videos that are so heavily posed and produced, it feels like that’s what lots of artists are doing now and I do find it a little off putting. Exception to that rule is Latte ASMR, everything she does is beautiful.

Yes that's her! The comments were either people feeling awkward or men getting their rocks off.

Retox44 is great ASMR. All unintentional and loads of interesting interviews with people. SouthernASMR is brilliant. I love her neighbourhood gossip videos and the 'dudes in trucks' - desperate to know what the huge holes are for and if they're actually spies and don't work for the pipeline...To me, the sexual stuff is just ick.

I checked out southernasmr after this post and she's brilliant! The dollar store and the sandwiches are my faves! Before then I was loving tingting, mayaling, Sophiemichelle and a load of 'packaging orders' videos :)

I love the Dollar Store ones, they are mesmerising. The neighbourhood gossip ones are funny too, she seems really nice, I hope she actually is.

If there's an audience, a creator will provide.

ASMR is fabulous.
I had a maths teacher as a teen and her voice was pure ASMR. Half the class were either just mesmerised or completely asleep.
The rest were oblivious. I passed my GCSE but I'm not sure how.
