to think Ronan Keating can’t sing? Which other famous singers can’t sing?

When I was a teenager I thought Ronan Keating had a great voice (despite not being my type of music) but I think I probably just fancied him. I’ve just heard one of his songs from around 1999 pop up on a Spotify playlist and he sounds like a goat yelping into a Pringles can.

I know lots of pop stars can’t sing for shite but in my head I had him in a bracket of people who can sing nicely - despite probably not having listened to his music for 20+ years.

Can RK sing?

Which other pop stars who people think are decent singers actually turn out to sound like a farm yard animal with trapped wind.

Anyone from One Direction when they went solo. The same with Girls Aloud..Sam Smith person.Ellie Goulding, Kylie Minogue, and most of the Rap singers.

Music would be exceptionally boring if only the technically great singers were allowed to do it. All of these people listed have great, memorable, distinctive voices which for me is so much more important. I'm not listening to songs like wow, check out that larynx support.

I agree with you. Lemmy was never going to win awards for being pitch perfect but I love Motorhead. Danny Beus is not a great singer and neither is Shane McGowan but they have fun and have a laugh and make great songs!

Madonna, all of Take That spring to mind.

I am not keen on Gary Barlow or Elton John and they’re not very good singers but both are accomplished musicians in songwriting and (less so Gary) pianist terms. Playing the piano and singing at the same time is bloody hard and Elton in particular do it well.

I’ve had signing lessons myself and I’m fairly sure most of the “singers” mentioned on this thread have never had a proper singing lesson in their lives. I studied music at uni and had friends at the conservatoire and can spot a properly trained singer a mile off.

Oh god yes Rihanna - like nails down a blackboard. One of the ugliest noises I've ever heard.

I might get shot down for this but the Gibbs brothers from the Bee Gees particularly Robin. Cilla Black couldn't sing either, however these singers were entertainers so got away with it.
