I'm bored of people who have never actually looked at MN

Or spent any time reading the thousands of threads that are full of advice, support and humour on here, who think they have a right to comment on what goes on here.

Feels a lot like misogyny with a dash of ageism.

What does it has to do with misogyny and agesism?

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2021 19:32

I don't know what you are getting at. Posters that don't RTFT?

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 19:32

Have a look at Twitter and see the comments.

did you find the band first? A lot of people might saunter in from all sorts of directions. I did once. 12 name changes later I stuck around for the advice.

SylHellais · 03/03/2021 19:35

All the women falling over themselves to tweet about how nasty and trivial Mumsnet is. 😂

Go, sisters.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 03/03/2021 19:36

I agree OP.

When I have divulged my MN addiction, the response I get most often is the accusation that it's just full of TERFs.

Never mind all the other stuff which I find bring me humour, educate me, stimulate debate across a very wide range of topics and honestly have saved me from losing my mind completely during lockdown (Thanks to all involved Smile )

And the sneering can be regarded as misogynistic, much as part of the witchhunts in days of yore were underpinned by the dangers of women talking together.

I think some people would like to see a return of scolds bridles and ducking stools.

Women organising themselves might disrupt the status quo, we're dangerous like that Wink

MedusasBadHairDay · 03/03/2021 19:36

So much hate. If they don't like the forum they could, and this is a radical idea I know, just not use it. 🤷‍♀️

There are often comments about how we should stick to talking about nappies and prams, and definitely never discuss politics or social issues. They won't quite say get back to the kitchen and make a sandwich, but they will suggest we can't possibly understand bigger issues.
Longtalljosie · 03/03/2021 19:38

Yep. The fear of some talking to each other is visceral. And you only have to look at the Relationships board to figure out why...

Which bit of Twitter? It's a big place...
Stellaris22 · 03/03/2021 19:40

Going to get flamed, but, you can't deny the transphobia on this forum.

There's a lot of great advice and humour too, but the reputation for being a transphobic site is justified.

FTMF30 · 03/03/2021 19:41

Oh, so we're talking about Twitter? I thought this was about comments/threads in here.

BelleSausage · 03/03/2021 19:41

It’s the same misogyny wrapped in modern dressing.

Women know your limits. 🙄

FTMF30 · 03/03/2021 19:43

@Sparklingbrook I think people are talking about MN Twitter. I had no idea about it prior to this.

How so?
Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 19:46

I'd like to see a breakdown of posts that are actually anything to do with 'trans' though. This site is about so much more, even though I value FWR. And remember, a lot of the 'trans' posts are bad faith posters out to derail threads.

OP posts:
JayAlfredPrufrock · 03/03/2021 19:46

I don’t understand Twitter.

But I also don’t understand why it’s transphobic to say you can’t change sex 🤷‍♀️

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 19:48

It's just lazy to criticise something you haven't even bothered to research IMO.

OP posts:
therocinante · 03/03/2021 19:48

I think, given some of the stuff posted on here, and that it's starting to creep more into other boards than FWR, the accusations that it's a place that seems utterly obsessed with knocking down anything to do with trans people, their rights and their ability to exist without being constantly told they're trying to indoctrinate children is... probably justified.

Sparklingbrook · 03/03/2021 19:49

Oh, ok. It's about a bunfight over on Twitter then.

BelleSausage · 03/03/2021 19:50

All I see on that Twitter trend is people who hate women.

But hating women is fine in this society. It’s not even a fucking hate crime. FFS.

Twitter hates women. And now they want to try to shut down the only place women can still speak their minds.

Silly OP. Don't you know that as mummies, we only have two modes: wittering about prams and sudocrem, or SPEWING HATE (by expressing opinions on things beyond prams and sudocrem). We really should shush and let all the beardy 'male feminist, he/him' blokes on Twitter tell us about how feminism works, they're so much better qualified.

PronounssheRa · 03/03/2021 20:00

It's a horribly transphobic site. Mumsnet will have blood on their hands one day.

That's a hell of a claim, which I think needs to be backed up with evidence.

Twitter is full of rape threats and threats of violence towards women and you think MN is the problem Confused

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 20:01

Don't make such ridiculous statements. Women talking about women's rights in a place no one is forced to look at if they don't want to will caused bloodshed?

Feminists aren't the ones threatening physical violence.

You're basically telling women they aren't allowed to discuss their rights in a space designed for them Hmm
