I'm bored of people who have never actually looked at MN

Or spent any time reading the thousands of threads that are full of advice, support and humour on here, who think they have a right to comment on what goes on here.

Feels a lot like misogyny with a dash of ageism.

@ExtraordinaryQuince

Pahhhhah.

Are you on glue?

FTMF30 · 03/03/2021 20:15

I would like to think I am against transphobia but, at the same time, I'm pretty sure I'd be called transphobic as I don't believe TW are women(we are really not the same) and I am also concerned about children's welfare in terms of hormone blocking drugs, etc.

With that being said, I find it difficult to engage with some threads about trans people as there is no denying that MN does have fierce transphobes (hates every trans persond existence) and many racists to boot. But we are not all like that and want to have comversations without being shut down.

equuscaballus · 03/03/2021 20:37

So, women on mumsnet display a full cross section of beliefs in society!?

SylHellais · 03/03/2021 20:38

@Stellaris22

Going to get flamed, but, you can't deny the transphobia on this forum.

There's a lot of great advice and humour too, but the reputation for being a transphobic site is justified.

Absolute rubbish.

MN is one of the few places where the balance of the rights of women and trans rights can be discussed. To discuss it is not transphobic.

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 20:41

I'm glad to see MNetters have come out on Twitter defending MN as a useful resource. I wish I had been here when I was in the middle of an abusive relationship. It would have made a huge difference to me.

There are about 7 million unique users per month on mumsnet - with a thread for just about every parenting issue you could imagine. People who don't need or use the site want to dictate what (mainly) women and (mainly) mums can talk about and when they can't do that try and target advertisers... so YANBU OP... It's not the first time though - a few groups & individuals have tried before.

We are either dismissed as boring women who just talk about buggies & babies or as harridans who must be stopped.

I'm a vocal feminist too. But twanw.

Felicity, what do transwomen and women have in common?
How can someone change sex?

Stellaris22 · 03/03/2021 21:03

Why hasn't my post been deleted? What on earth was wrong with the post by Felicity? Or is anyone who challenges the transphobia on MN going to be deleted?

FelicityBeedle · 03/03/2021 21:06

@Stellaris22 I assume it’s because I used a word beginning with T. Which as far as I know is a self given moniker so I’m a bit pissed off. I’m quite upset really, having avoided FWR for so long I didn’t realise how bad it had gotten there. I am a cisgender woman, and I support that trans women are women. I also support biological sex, but public spaces should be gender segregated, not set.

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 21:07

Posts which break the guidelines get deleted whoever posts them.

OP posts:
megletsecond · 03/03/2021 21:09

How can a public space be gender segregated when gender is a social construct?

FelicityBeedle · 03/03/2021 21:09

I don’t know the guidelines in terms of talking about transgender rights, I don’t know what I said wrong still. I really would appreciate enlightenment

Stellaris22 · 03/03/2021 21:10

I read your post Felicity and there was nothing offensive in it, certainly nothing worthy of being deleted. So much for the defence of MN being a place where people can have open discussions.

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/03/2021 21:11

Oh, ok. It's about a bunfight over on Twitter then.

A fight? On Twitter???Confused

No fucking way!ShockShockShock

FelicityBeedle · 03/03/2021 21:12

‘Public decency’ is a social construct, We legislate with that in mind with regards to nudity. Hate crime is something we’ve decided as a society is wrong, we legislate against that too

LOL.

show us some examples please.

Emeraldshamrock · 03/03/2021 21:14

They don't know what they are missing. Grin

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 21:16

Many, many posts by feminists posting their views are reported and deleted. Spend some time in FWR and you'll see. There's more targeted reporting of posts written by GC women than there are deletions of good faith posts by those with opposing views.

OP posts:
FelicityBeedle · 03/03/2021 21:17

@MNHQ I have inadvertently used a banned term in my above post, I ask that you delete it if you feel necessary but please don’t delete my account as outlined in the policy linked by @Doyoumind. I wasn’t aware of that policy until just now and really appreciate MN as a forum. I’ll be ducking out now

Doyoumind · 03/03/2021 21:20

You won't get your account deleted felicity. You would have to be a clear troll or a repeat offender for that to happen.

OP posts:
FelicityBeedle · 03/03/2021 21:22

I had a deleted message on another thread earlier, one on here and I called myself another discouraged word. That link says three strikes and you’re out for 6 weeks. I rely on mumsnet to keep me sane half the time! Don’t want to risk if

Loopyloututu2 · 03/03/2021 21:23

I don’t do Twitter as I generally can’t abide thick people but I bet they say we’re a right bunch of “Karen’s” don’t they? That seems to be the kind of supposedly derogatory term that would be bandied about - that and TERF..lol!

Well, witch burning isn’t allowed these days so they have to try to shut us down somehow - but sticks n stones and all that..

JayAlfredPrufrock · 03/03/2021 21:25

You’ll still be able to read.
