She throws herself at the tv dramatically, wailing and looks for the the remotes. So I put on something and she looks disgusted and goes to find the remote again to hand to me. I say what would you like and she makes a crying noise. I change it to something else. She makes a face, Mumma she says and points at the TV . I have no idea. I ask would you like Bus, nothing. Ahhhhhhh.

Tried nursery rhymes on YouTube/ Peppa Pig / Sarah & Duck she hates everything. I hide the remotes, wailing clinging to the tv unit starts ... No one can say I'm not trying. She watches only 15 seconds of anything before crying.

Timmy Time
Hey Digger
Tik Tak
Other kids on YouTube
The Olay advert

All recommendations from my 15 mo twins

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/03/2021 18:27

Take the controls away, hide them and she'll forget in a few days.
Spare yourself the horror of kids TV for as long as you can

SleepingStandingUp · 02/03/2021 18:27

And I make them watch my soaps because meh, I like them

SleepingStandingUp · 02/03/2021 18:28

But also "children shouldn't watch TV until they are old enough to spell Television backwards and even then only for 10 minutes a week otherwise they'll never speak and become layabouts glued to the goggle box until their dotage"

TortaCioccolato · 02/03/2021 18:29

At that age mine loved only the teletubbies as it's aimed at babies. Not sure if it's still on though.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/03/2021 18:32

Oh mine watched my soaps and whatever, I just didn't introduce kid's TV because omg its so bloody annoying!

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/03/2021 18:36

I also used to read my magazines out loud to her.
She liked hearing my voice and I got to read Heat. Win win !
It was 20 years ago.

ChilliMum · 02/03/2021 18:36

Kids tv is awful. Try a documentary blue planet or something with animals. My kids loved this kind of stuff when they were small.

Notanotherhun · 02/03/2021 18:41

Cbeebies, tiktak, something special, moon and me, also love yakka dee.

EachBleachBlairTrump · 02/03/2021 18:41

I agree DS loves nature programmes, monkey life is a good one as episodes are short , Attenborough stuff obviously is great but you have to know what's coming as some of it is brutal

Ninkanink · 02/03/2021 18:43

Animals. Most children absolutely love watch nature programmes. Not the children’s ones though. Straight up Richard Attenborough.

RosieGirl27 · 02/03/2021 18:44

My 11 month old is mesmerised by Tee and Mo if I need 5 minutes to get something done it gets put on!

Sexnotgender · 02/03/2021 18:45

The wiggles is a winner in this house.

BobGalaxy · 02/03/2021 18:57

Can you scroll through CBeebies and see if she responds to something in particular?

VestaTilley · 02/03/2021 19:01

We watch original Postman Pat and original Fireman Sam with our toddler, both on YouTube, also Moon and Me and Teletubbies on BBC iplayer. Avoid Bing. Hey Duggee is ok.

My toddler loves footage on YouTube of the choir of Kings College singing Grin so we watch that a lot... keep trying different things, but I also agree with another PP who said try and offer different things. They don’t need TV and my DS much prefers going to the park over TV if given the choice.

VestaTilley · 02/03/2021 19:02

Justin’s House or Something Special on bbc iplayer also good.

MeadowHay · 02/03/2021 19:04

Tbh I would just ignore her in this and redirect, you can't be spending hours putting on show after show after show for her only to scream and reject them all.

Theforest · 02/03/2021 19:09

At that age, my youngest hated everything except Baby TV. Its a channel on Sky aimed at babies and toddlers. Its not bad really.
He hated cbeebies and never watched it. He progressed onto Disney Channel after.

MsChatterbox · 02/03/2021 19:19

Hmm taking a guess I would say it sounds like she's doing it for attention. At the first complaint over what show I would turn the TV off and distract with an activity like building stacking cups.

Brieminewine · 02/03/2021 19:37

I second baby tv 609 on sky. I can’t stand that mr Tumble fella, thankfully DD20M isn’t keen either Grin

WithASpider · 02/03/2021 19:41

We had Finding Nemo and Blue Planet on almost endlessly when DDs were small, managed to skip kids TV almost entirely! DS preferred Phineas and Ferb (6yo DD1's influence!).

shittingthreeeyedraven · 02/03/2021 20:18

Kiri and Lou on CBeebies is my new fave and my dc loves it too. They are only 5 mins long and really calming and sweet

mbosnz · 02/03/2021 20:19

Can you still get Baby Einstein DVD's? I found they zoned out both the babies and the grandparents in equal measures.

IsThisNews · 02/03/2021 20:22

My 1yo likes Tee & Mo, Timmy Time, Yakka Dee & hey duggee, all on cbeebies/iplayer. Also Little Baby Bum on Netflix.

MooseBreath · 02/03/2021 20:28

DS (9 months) loves Hey Duggee. He's partial to Phineas and Ferb, nature documentaries, and Desperate Housewives though that may be my doing.... He also loves theme songs and credits.
