www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-56251020
at the end of this article about BBC3 coming back, CBBC will then finish at 7.00 pm?

am i out of touch?

The idea of extending CBBC was to provide non-adult content for younger teens

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/03/2021 18:02

As above. CBBC doesn't just have toddler TV on.

GirlLovesWorld · 02/03/2021 18:06

My ten year old stays up until 9.

Not that we let her watch kids TV until that time. We're very boring and after 7pm it's the adults choice Grin

Symbion · 02/03/2021 18:07

So you're complaining that it currently runs until 9pm, even though the announcement is that they are stopping doing so? I'm confused.

Looneytune253 · 02/03/2021 18:09

Eh? My 10 year old stays up till 9. She doesn't watch cbbc but I'm sure that it's aimed for kids her age!! CBeebies is aimed for up to 7s?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 02/03/2021 18:10

Isn't CBBC aimed at KS2/KS3?

GirlLovesWorld · 02/03/2021 18:11

CBBC is probably more like 7-11 or something-ish.

OwlBeThere · 02/03/2021 18:15

I think you’re confusing cbbc with CBeebies. My 13 year old watched cbbc until she was maybe 11.

OwlBeThere · 02/03/2021 18:18

And even if it was CBeebies, some young kids go to bed later and sleep later, my children were pre-school age their dad worked a 11-7 shift and I was self employed so our routine was to keep the kids up til 8.30/9 to see hour after work and we all slept in til 9 most days because it worked better for us.

Imapotato · 02/03/2021 18:18

Isnt cbbc Aimee at like 5-12 year olds? A lot of kids 10+ would be up until 9.

Lolalovesroses · 02/03/2021 18:28

There will be some older children with SEN who will enjoy watching these shows too, especially Mr Tumble.

TerrifiedandWorried · 02/03/2021 18:33

It's aimed at 6-12 year olds. So yes, lots will be up until 9pm.

Peace43 · 02/03/2021 18:36

My 10 year old watches CBBC - it’s aimed at her age range. She stays up until 9 on the weekend and 8:30 in the week.

TierFourTears · 02/03/2021 18:39

What age do you think CBBC is aimed at, and what time do you think that age range goes to bed?
FWIW, my CBBC watching child goes to bed at 9 (lights out 9.30).

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 02/03/2021 19:05

So I am out of touch Blush

OP posts:
BlibBlabBlob · 02/03/2021 19:10

Geez my kid is 10 and very much in the target age group for CBBC.

She is never asleep before 10.30pm and in lockdown it's been more like 11.30pm!

Kpo58 · 02/03/2021 19:16

Cbeebies is only on til 7
CBBC is currently til 9

I think POP is 24 hour.

As much as you hope kids aren't awake then, it is a good distraction for those still awake because they could be waiting for an ambulance or to go on holiday.

zigaziga · 02/03/2021 19:20

I don’t think this is a new thing is it, 10 year olds going to bed at 8.30 or 9.30?

I had a 7pm bedtime throughout primary school but was definitely the odd one out.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 02/03/2021 19:34

yes but are 10 year olds watching TV right up until bedtime?

OP posts:
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/03/2021 19:34

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom

yes but are 10 year olds watching TV right up until bedtime?
What does it matter to you if they are?
Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 02/03/2021 19:36

touchy? @BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

it is just a simple question, no need for your answer

OP posts:
halcyondays · 02/03/2021 19:38

Yes you do stay up until 9.00 if you watch CBBC.. It’s aimed at 6-12 year olds.

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 02/03/2021 19:40

At that time of night it's the sort of stuff that used to be on after newsround in the old days. The modern equivalent of Byker Grove etc.

I think it's fine, safe TV viewing for the late primary/early secondary age who probably don't want to be watching the one show etc.

I doubt many are watching though which is why it's being cut back to 7pm.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 02/03/2021 19:43

Ironic.

There was no need for your question.

mnahmnah · 02/03/2021 19:43

My 9 yo watches CBBC until about 8.15, then reads in bed after that
