Ah, I miss the days when the only thing I was nagging dd about was watching too much of The Next Step or the Dumping Ground!

Ilovemaisie · 03/03/2021 09:30

theliverpoolone oh the stress and worry about 'Regionals' Grin
Apparently at it's most popular time The Next Step was the second most watched BBC programme on iPlayer (second to EastEnders) !!

@ShakespearesSisters

Bit gutted to hear it will finish at 7. We often watch the evening edition of horrible histories, a great show whatever your age.
There are nights when, after the kids have gone up to bed 7ish, me and DH are known to sit and watch Horrible Histories and Operation Ouch as much preferable to the shit on the main channels.
Ilovemaisie · 03/03/2021 11:18

If Horrible Histories was on prime time bbc1 there would probably never be any complaints about paying the license fee again.

@Inthevirtualwaitingroom

yes but are 10 year olds watching TV right up until bedtime?
Well that depends on the ten year old in question and their parents.

I thought most kids watched stuff on their tablets rather than broadcast these days anyway.

Oh god I hate those precocious teens! They drive me mental with their anguish and drama, don't they ever actually qualify for regionals?!

DD only watches it now if I'm not in the room because I just moan about it so much Grin

Have you watched Ghosts? It's like Horrible Histories for grown ups Grin

I mean, my 8 year old watches CBBC and usually doesn't actually go to sleep until 10pm (sometimes 11pm). She certainly wouldn't be up watching tv until then, except on a special occasion though. Normally, she's in her room with lights off except for fairy lights from 8:30. She just reads and tinkers and takes awhile to sleep. I can see how it would be useful to have it later for holidays and older children though.

CBeebies is the toddler tv aimed at 5 and under. CBBC is primary age so up to about 10/11.

Absolutely. It's amazing tv. I suspect they've found though that top end primary kids tend to be not watching or at least not watching live at 8-9. I know mine watch BBC content but mostly on iPlayer so they can pick and choose. I tell myself my license fee pays for Horrible Histories to help me make peace with it...
