AIBU to tell you that I have received a hun text from a friend I see sporadically, inviting me to join a Facebook Live or Zoom to find out about her exciting and amazing new business venture? She's earning more than her full time job role, can work around the kids and is #living her best life. It's something to do with aloe vera.

It's an attempted MLM ambush isn't it? I've not replied yet.

@Malteser71

I love how they call themselves ‘business owners.’

Used to work in the co-op, now giving Alan Sugar a run for his money after spending a couple of hundred on face creams.

Boss babes.

Anyone signing up to Tropic is likely to be making Alan Sugar’s former apprentice rich. Susie Ma is laughing all the way to the bank. I wonder if she ever figured out if the French like their children? I hope it doesn’t keep her awake at night.

@Malteser71

Also. How do they get the car? Why is it always white?

Whose house is that in the back ground?

Do you get something else if you sell a bit less? A moped? A bike?

They have a lease agreement with Mercedes for a white car (arbonne) Hmm but it's actually a car allowance towards the lease which is dependant on your commission
GabsAlot · 01/03/2021 12:09

is that susan ma an mlm didnt realise

Malteser71 · 01/03/2021 12:48

I might fancy being a boss babe.

But would I have to keep posing for photos wearing slippers, next to a coffee, an open diary and a pen?

Because I don’t have any slippers. Maybe there’s a slipper bonus.

@SquirtleSquad

Someone tried to suck me into selling LumiSpa, with this lying strawberry..

The first one is using normal cleaning techniques to remove the foundation from the strawberry and its "pores", the second one is meant to demonstrate how that same strawberry that couldn't be cleaned with usual cleaners is now spotless with just 30 seconds of lumispa.

They're different fucking strawberries.

Fricking brilliant. That made me roar. Idiots

you missed the miracle, it's the SAME strawberry.

Because you clean your face AND you lose 2 stones at the same time.
Use that thing every day for a month and you end up with the most beautiful skin, a size 6 and 6ft tall.

Joinedjustforthispost · 01/03/2021 15:24

My friend that’s not bothers with me in years added me and some other poor folk to a fb group chat to tell me about her miracle weight loss products, was I interested or did I want to join her business? I simply replied no! She replied oh sorry with a sad emoji. Everyone left the group chat Grin

SnarkyBag · 01/03/2021 15:29

I got inundated with Facebook messages from my child’s maths tutor of all people who signed up for this shite. I politely ignored (and was very Hmm that she thought it was appropriate to start messaging tutoring clients) but she messaged several times and then started leaving voice messages. I blocked her and no longer use her as a maths tutor so gonna say that little venture isn’t really a money spinner!

PussyCatEatingEasterEggs · 01/03/2021 15:30

Reply with Bye-Bye, Vera then block.

BabbleBee · 01/03/2021 15:44

I had one recently and replied with - I wish you good luck with your new venture, but I don’t support MLM.

I was promptly deleted 🤷🏼‍♀️

LilQueenie · 01/03/2021 18:05

Seems a new tag line has made appearance. "health boss" Hmm

YYY Why are the cars always white???

The most recent version of MLM seems to be Life Coaches.

Whatafabulousday · 01/03/2021 18:25

QuitMoaning and JustAnotherSod

That was it! Pampered flippin Chef! 😂

BakewellGin1 · 01/03/2021 18:29

A few people I know are in with Juice Plus and living their best life with a new venture earning more then their job.... If I hear one more babe, hun, amaze balls or insane one more time Grin run while you can

BambooWhoosh · 01/03/2021 18:33

I always thought white cars were the cheapest because white isn't usually a metallic paint and it's a pain to keep clean so not as popular.
Trade vans are usually white because they are the cheapest colour (and they don't usually care if they are clean or not).

Malteser71 · 01/03/2021 18:55

They seem to follow a script on fb.

‘You’re gonna smash this’

‘Can’t wait to see you succeed’

‘I’ve got a good feeling about this!’

‘So excited for 2021’

And then they post that somebody got a car (lease) and they all chime in ‘you so deserve this’ and promise a trip abroad, ‘Australia qualified’

Docketpuo · 01/03/2021 18:59

Pampered Chef! I know it was a bit rubbish but at least their products were ok. Stuff I bought 10 years ago still going strong

AllownotEllow · 01/03/2021 20:29

Someone I haven't spoken to in about 10 years messaged me on Facebook a few weeks ago saying "Hi Allow, Happy New Year! How are you? Hope you and your family are doing OK during these troubled times". I thought it was weird, looked at her profile and saw that she was doing Forever Living so I deleted her.
2 weeks later a mutual friend, who I haven't spoken to since primary school 30 years ago sent the exact same message! I decided to have some fun and we had a nice chat with lots of "I'm here for you"s, and strangely enough the sales pitch never came! She must be playing the long game!

I'm not sure that you pay attention on the roads. Newer vans are rarely White these days, various takes on silver/greys/bronze seem most popular. White van man is rapidly becoming an endangered species😉
QueenOfLabradors · 01/03/2021 21:39

White van man is rapidly becoming an endangered species

I'm White Van Woman... There are still far more white vans than any other colour. I manage a small fleet of them... Smile

I did have a car for family use up until last year, but actually my Doggy Funbus is so much more wonderful for everything now that I no longer have school runs to factor into my life that a tiny little car that you can't get more than two dogs into is something I really don't need!

Anniegetyourgun · 01/03/2021 22:04

If White Van Man is being replaced by White Van Woman With Dogs, that's even better than them simply being phased out.

ReverendRicketyCricket · 01/03/2021 22:13

I hate MLMs as much as the next woman but I was given all my SIL's Pampered Chef stuff when she finally woke up and realised she'd been sold a pup and - although it pains me - it's really good stuff.
I'd never have paid for it though - so expensive.
They've gone bust now haven't they? Or given up.

KnackeredHag · 01/03/2021 23:15

Look I get it. You must've heard all the sales pitches and think this is just another one of those businesses but this product is completely different, a life changer in fact. Aloe can heal and cure, aid weight loss and make you feel great. Don't you deserve that at least?'

Aside from the fact I don't need to be healed, lose weight and I feel ok, I can't believe she actually believes this nonsense!

Her actual day job? A policewoman.

There’s a bit of a tradition of ex-police becoming FLP people. Could hazard a guess at who your friends upline is. From crime fighting to perpetrating a long-term scam - how depressing.
