i’ve used MN for years, and i often think about particular threads or posters that stuck out to me or i interacted with ages ago that i haven’t been able to find (or just seemed to stop posting without a trace) since then.

anyone else get strangely nostalgic/curious thinking back to threads/posters and wonder what became of them?

I followed Twittlebee's story. She found out she was pregnant mid way through the wood saga. Her son was born premature and very sadly passed away after a short time. The wonderful knitting crew of MN actually made a fantastic blanket in his memory-I wish I could find the link!

I believe she now has another child and has shared photos of lovely new baby with the blanket in his honour.

MN at its best there
Here is a link to the beautiful blanket which I think links to her thread.

Two posters who's threads have had me in buckets of tears.

Emin - a long thread about caring for her foster baby withdrawing from opiates. She was just someone incredibly selfless and good. I cried when I read that she had passed away.

Gojettergirl - I've got tears in my eyes now thinking her thread a year ago when her son passed away. It was incredibly sad but she said beautiful things about Gojetterboy.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 26/02/2021 19:46

Fistasledge that's the Emin (earthmotherimnot) thread. You are correct that it is in Classics, as is a thread later on informing that she had passed away.

JosieJarker · 26/02/2021 19:46

Yes i remember the foster mum with the little baby girl going through withdrawal.
I think it was her daughter who updated that she had died.
Very sad, she and her husband were obviously lovely decent people, very unfair, I hope the little girl is doing well with her family after such a hard start.

choosername1234 · 26/02/2021 19:50

I remember a thread by a lady who was sharing an office with a colleague who had a very severe body odour problem. The poster was Canadian I think. I'd love to know how that was resolved

PlumsInTheIcebox · 26/02/2021 19:53

I found myself thinking of @CatThiefKeith the other day. Her threads were always brilliant.

StepOutOfLine · 26/02/2021 20:09

@BlueLikeASmurf

EatShitDerek is one of my FB friends as she lives very close to me. She and her two lovely DC are doing really well. I will message her to let her know that kind people are asking after her.
Please do! She'll know me as Drank Smile
AlfonsoTheTerrible · 26/02/2021 20:13

Oh, yes. @CatThiefKeith was another favourite.

liltadpole · 26/02/2021 20:17

Child deaths, still borns stay with me and I often wonder how these families are now right now. Also the posters that publish threads how they can't pay rent or have to choose between food or bills always sticks with me and I hope they are in a better place right now. I sometimes wish I won the lottery so I can pm them and help them. This years been very hard for most people.

I also want another Piss off Pam thread from a few days ago which got full. I wonder what happened in a space of few days. Please do another thread.

Time40 · 26/02/2021 20:22

There was one from 5 ish years ago, possibly more. She had 3 kids I think, husband pressuring her to have another but there was some half-renovated death trap bit of the house which he wouldn't fix?

I remember a thread exactly like that, but I don't think it was as long ago as five years.

One popped up again today from a while ago, which I wanted to read in case there was an update - the one about the poster who had had terrible problems with work, and then work had said she'd resigned but she hadn't. I missed reading it, and now I can't find it - why is the Search on MN such absolute rubbish?

CassandrasCastle · 26/02/2021 20:22

Wavesandsmiles - she lived in the Channel Islands and posted about being almost addicted to her horrible ex partner. She sounded so lovely and clever and sweet, but just couldn't stop herself from sleeping with him Confused I remember being so frustrated and confused...

BlueLikeASmurf · 26/02/2021 20:27

The very strange one I remember was PixieOnALeaf.

I remain utterly convinced that she was either a troll or it was someone testing out fiction writing. Her ridiculous stories about her huge house, with a swimming pool, orangery, husband working away and very many children with significant health problems just did not ring true. There was always a child being blue lighted to hospital for one reason or another. One child with brittle asthma was a regular feature.

Then all of a sudden she had all of her posts deleted because she had been 'outed'. This might have coincided with a post a friend of mine, now sadly deceased, who suggested that POAL would soon announce that the child with brittle asthma had died.

I can't find it right now - but I will - but there was a thread that she posted on in her original name and then posted on again under POAL that completely gave it away.

Tiktaks · 26/02/2021 20:27

@mxmxm

one of the ones that really sticks out for me was the woman about four years ago who was in a really rough situation re. the council and her benefits/housing. she had a huge family iirc and would post really worrying, almost desperate posts every day but started getting troll hunted and never posted again. i still don’t know if it was all ‘real’ but if so i hope she’s doing better.

one of the confirmed trolls in particular really sticks with me but i don’t want to mention it in case this turns into a TAAT

Shes doing fine.
FFSAllTheGoodOnesArereadyTaken · 26/02/2021 20:31

There was one about a year ago where the lady (whiskychaser maybe) filled up 3 threads...she was part of a friendship group of school mums and then the queen bee mum accused her by a misdirected text message of trying to steal her husband because they occasionally walked home from school together. The other friends at first supported then it became clear they were dropping her for the queen bee and starting a new thread without her, as no one believed she was innocent (or more likely they were worried about being turned on). I don't know why out of all the other more serious or more emotional threads, that one stayed with me and I always wondered what happened

longtompot · 26/02/2021 20:33

@mxmxm I think we are thinking if the same one. There were quite a few pictures of 'her son' on it. Just awful.

@cattypussclaw I was so furious on Twittlebees behalf reading her posts. I really hope it was resolved and in her favour.

SEE123 · 26/02/2021 20:36

I think about RainMinusBow all the time. I really hope her pregnancy was okay and that she and her DH are free of her evil XH.

BIWI · 26/02/2021 20:40

@Daisychainsandglitter

I always wonder about expatinscotland. She used to post a lot and then disappeared.
She's fine. She is one of my FB friends.

Does anyone remember a thread about a lady whose husband had set up a fish tank in the living room with a massive blue light. Her and the kids couldn't sit in the living room when the light was on, which was about 18hrs a day or something? He said keeping fish made him feel like God! I hope she is OK now.

Daisychainsandglitter · 26/02/2021 20:50

@BIWI that's really good to know. I often think of her.

Luckyrabbitfoot · 26/02/2021 20:52

Two people I remember. One poster ( I think she had Wirral in her name) had a stillborn son around Christmas time. I remember reading her threads and just feeling the pain in her words. I hope she is ok.

Also the poster who had the beautiful daughter Billie, who passed away as a teenager. I thought she gave some brilliant advice and was a voice of reason in many threads.

OverweightPidgeon · 26/02/2021 20:54

Was it Mrs Devere that had Billie ?

Cocolapew · 26/02/2021 20:55

I'm glad to hear ESD and her DC are well, I always liked her.
There's a multi thread going on atm that wouldn't surprise me if it was a troll. Lots of updates, just doesn't ring true.

SooMoony · 26/02/2021 20:59
@bloodywhitecat people make up all sorts.

I can remember the exposing of dizzymare! That's how long I go back Grin
I remember Dizzymare too - that was my first experience of an emotional vampire troll. 2009 that was.

God, I'm old and my children are all grown and I'm still on Mumsnet!
