I love a good cuppa - but why can’t YT pre tear the tea bags - for the millionth time dry tea is all over my counter

FEEL YOUR PAIN. Also seems to happen every time I need to make a quick brew at 6am before rushing out of the house!

Because it's "like tea used to be" - loose leaf, all over the place.

This is so true. I've lost so many Yorkshire brews because the teabags split.

Eh? I'm feeling all confused and middle-aged now .
I was thinking "Of course they tear , my DD often does one bag in a cup" but I've just checked our new batch and there's no tear-line

FTR-
I use a tea-pot never tea-in-a-cup ( you get a horrible scummy film with our water if you do that)
I always use 2 bags per pot so never tear them
I have the Yorkshire Tea Gruffolo Tea-Caddy
Makes no difference to the taste but makes me smile

It seems to be a recent thing.

Never used to have Yorkshire tea when young, one of the few benefits of climate change.

YANBU, why don’t they just separate them?! Don’t they release the British need to make tea at speed without faffing around?!

Ahhh maybe you are supposed to use two in a mug for an extra strong brew.

Not just the having to be careful when you tear them, but the randomness of the quality is annoying.

I often find I have a box of Yorkshire Gold that is the quality of the Red stuff, or has no depth of flavour.

I tear my bags carefully when I open the box and then decant them into a tin, saves being given a cup of loose bits if someone else makes it.

YANBU I have noticed they seem to be getting worse recently.
Epic fail when hubby didn't notice the split recently & gave me a bitty cuppa!!

What? Have they stopped perforating in between the two bags?

I never seem to have a problem? Stick a load in the tea caddy every time it gets low and just just pull about a dozen apart at a time. Have probably only lost two tea begs that way in years. But if you say they are getting more delicate I will take more care in future!

I feel like it used to be no problem and I never ripped into the tea bit, but recently I’ve accidentally ripped the bags ever so often - thought I was just getting sloppier but maybe the bags have changed??

A couple of years or so back, they did say they were aiming to reduce the plastic in the bags, they seem to have done it now.

Doesn't explain why they don't perforate them though, probably cheaper not to.

Since Brexit I could buy gold bullion more easily and probably cheaper than Yorkshire Tea here in France.
I dream of loose tea on my counter top.

Oh god I thought it was just me. I tried tearing them in batches to save time. As you can imagine that went badly 😆

For those of you suggesting I pre prepare - I do!

I take a load out of the box, tear and put them in a kilner jar. I used to be able to do great bunches of them at the same time - daren’t do more than one or two pairs now. Bastard stuff goes everywhere

Perhaps you could cut them with scissors? Although I concede it shouldn't be necessary.

Or switch to Sainsburys Red Label or Waitrose Essentials, which I swear are the same as each other and very similar to Yorkshire tea in flavour, if a little less strong.

Both are fine, even with the very hard water in my area.

I have never had a problem - I pretear into caddy but there is a knack to it
