@Nith

DH likes Yorkshire, but I've overridden him and bought PG tips on the basis that they are separate T bags and compostable.
There was an excellent TV programme comparing the two that I watched a couple of months ago. I think it was on channel 5, and who knows, may still be available.

I won't tell you who won. I don't believe in spoilers.

Templetree · 26/02/2021 15:01

@NoMackerelInSwindon

Tear them into two?!?

Nay, two is a single brew. Tearing down the centre only happens south of Watford Gap as the taste is just too strong for southern palates.

Bit of a con if you need 2 bags for one cup of strong tea. Cant imagine Yorkshire folk would be happy with that. I have M&S and often get 2 cups out of one bag and its strong enough to grow hairs on your chest Grin
austenwildfell · 26/02/2021 15:17

Switch to another brand. "that'll learn em"
PG tips and Typhoo are good in the south with hard water.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/02/2021 15:46

@SchadenfreudePersonified

I have the Yorkshire Tea Gruffolo Tea-Caddy

I also have this!

It should be obligatory that EVERY tea manufacturer produces AT LEAST one branded tea caddy in their lifetime.

I would collect them - I'd love a PG Tips "Munki" one, and a Punjana one (perhaps with elephants running round it).

Grin

I have a PGTips Wallace and Gromit one.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/02/2021 16:22

You can get a PG Tips caddy here, just not with the monkey

SeldomFollowedIt · 26/02/2021 16:25

OP I love a cup of Yorkshire tea. It never rips though? Their decaf is very good too.

Thank you Two, but I'm not paying 13 quid for a monkey-free caddy!

The actual Gruffalo one was free - you bought the tea bags and the caddy came with them (a promotion, obviously, but it worked with me because I am very shallow. And tight. Grin)

The6thQueen · 26/02/2021 17:53

You can get the Wallace one on eBay @SchadenfreudePersonified, bit pricey though Confused

Mine have never ever ripped - what am I doing right?!!!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 26/02/2021 19:19

😂 Yea mine came free too but they don't sell them no more so I was trying to be helpful. Harumph I'll not bloody bother no bloody more!

QuestionableMouse · 26/02/2021 19:30

@Ellie56

Just use Tetleys teabags. They are individual so no tearing required.
Tetleys is vile stuff. It goes scummy in hard water and taste horrid.

I have a fancy teapot with a second for loose tea.

Though at the moment I'm drinking Whittard's English breakfast which is really nice.

FortunesFave · 26/02/2021 20:57

I live in Australia and it comes on a STRING here! A STRING!

Like bloody herbal tea!

There's no need to get all uppity!

I said "Thank you" - and I admitted I was tight!

Jeanswithanicetop · 26/02/2021 21:14

We have the Gruffalo tin AND a fancy Yorkshire Gold one...DH and I drink at least 5 cups of Yorkshire Gold per day, it’s a good job that caddy has strong hinges

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 26/02/2021 21:18

I make tea in a teapot - but only use one bag.
I split the tea bag pairs into before I put them in the jar, but it irritates me every time. Why? Just Why? I bet they manufacture in huge sheets, why not make that final cut to a single tea bag?

I opened a new box of pyramid PG tips yesterday, not my favourite, but a huge inward smile when I pulled out a handful of SINGLE pyramid teabags from the box. Brew

SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/02/2021 21:18

FIVE cups, Jeans?

Pfft!

Lightweights!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 26/02/2021 21:27

and I am in love with my new teapot
Tealyra Marble Teapot

It holds 600ml, perfect for two mugs!
The one I replaced was a similar shape, but only 500ml - one and a bit mugs, almost as frustrating as pairs of teabags.

And yes, you can use loose leaf too.

Bastarding Yorkshire tea
Devlesko · 26/02/2021 22:12

Aw, come on. I draw the line at the mention of PG or Typhoo, knats pee.
May your bags improve. Can't help thinking you must be a heavy handed bunch though.
Just buy a pot and be done with it, you won't regret it.
Not drumming up business or anything Grin

The6thQueen · 26/02/2021 22:18

@SchadenfreudePersonified, you do get a Gromit mug though....

@crystaltips98

They (like some other brands) also use microplastic in the bags so your tea is laced with this stuff. Change to PG tips. No tear dilemas and better for environment
Well out of date.

The reason Yorkshire tea bags tear more easily than a year or two ago is because they have removed the plastic from the bags.

ArcheryAnnie · 26/02/2021 22:22

Have you seen what Yorkshire Tea has done now?

toast and jam flavoured tea

biscuit flavoured tea

BrideofBideford · 26/02/2021 22:22

There is a knack to it

You need to take a handful of lined up double bags and slowly bend them/pull them and they all come apart at the same time

I can’t separate 2 bags

But I can separate a pile of bags neatly in one go

Shall I do a YouTube vid on it?! Grin
