To be angry with my neighbours

So long story short had a bit of a run in with the neighbours a few years back, both me, my DH and the guy next door have moved on from it but his girlfriend hasn't.

The girlfriend will ignore us if walking past and refuses to take any parcels in now (which is fine). She doesn't work so she's always at home while her man works, so normally around lunch time each day she throws out the leftover food from the night before. She throws it out onto the street outside her driveway normally more so over our side every single day.

This evening while I was in the kitchen shes came out of her house and chucked food directly right in front of our car which is parked in our drive way.

I am livid beyond words because its evident that it has been a deliberate stunt and now I'm left with what should I do.

AIBU for not wanting to let it go, being one to many times it's happened.

YANBU I'd really like to pick the food up and dump it all at her door step 🥴

I know it's not the point of the thread, but if he insists on eating a pizza every night for tea why don't they just put 7 pizzas in the weekly shop and save about £240 a month. Then they could afford to pay someone to put the leftovers in the bin on their behalf.

Ohtheplacesyougo · 25/02/2021 20:23

I shouldn’t but finding this thread absolutely hilarious!

Personally, I’d get your husband with another neighbour to go round in evening when both are in, explain the risk of vermin. Ask them to stop. If they don’t report them the next day.

Why I say husband is because if she doesn’t like you she’ll act with no rationality (especially as her behaviour is already odd) , and could put yourself in a vulnerable position. If you have another neighbour you have a witness. I think it will stop immediately.

@CavernousScream

She throws waste food out onto the street? Where do you live, the fifteenth century?
Took the words right out of my mouth Grin
spinningaround72 · 25/02/2021 20:32

Major sympathy from me OP. One of my flatmates at uni used to chuck food out of the window, I lived on the ground floor below the kitchen and it was grim. And now we live by a man who puts food on the grounds of a church we live next to every day to feed the birds...aka rats.

If you contact your council they will speak to her about environmental health and depending on your area they may have a bylaw they can use.

Waspnest · 25/02/2021 20:33

Or pretend you bought a cat and shit in her garden.

Grin

Sorry but I'm finding this thread really funny.

Anyway, yes record it and report her for littering/flytipping.

tofuschnitzel · 25/02/2021 20:38

@supernova89

I sometimes leave food out for the foxes and hedgehogs.
Do you mean you leave your leftovers out for hedgehogs? Please don't do this. Hedgehogs may eat the food you leave out, but many foods for humans are very bad for hogs, and they also won't get the right nutrients from the sort of food that humans eat. You can leave out water and a good quality cat food that has a high quantity of meat.
lunar1 · 25/02/2021 20:38

I'm really sorry because they sound awful, but I am literally crying with laughter at the whole thing. Can you please go to the upstairs window and film her doing this every night for a month, you can edit her best bits and go viral!

What on earth is wrong with her!

CoffeeRunner · 25/02/2021 20:39

What the actual fuck am I reading?

What are her justifications/reasoning for doing this? Is she throwing her scraps to the poor? Confused

StoneofDestiny · 25/02/2021 20:40

Get it on camera.
Report it to Environmental Health (and report seeing Rats as that will get more immediate attention)
Collect what she dumps.
Give the load you've collected over a few nights to her partner on his return from work and tell hi you've seen rats.

Lollypop4 · 25/02/2021 20:43

@PelvicFloorTrauma

Pick it up in a carrier bag and dump it on their doorstep with a note explaining that you saw what she did, it amounts to antisocial behaviour, you have kept a record of her actions and if she carries on you will report her to the police.
Do this but report to Enviromental health too. Try and video her
LemonadeSunshine · 25/02/2021 20:43

Random fact, the plastic table is called a 'box tent'. God I know some random and quite useful pub quiz facts!

M24L · 25/02/2021 20:44

I'm glad I've gave a few of you a laugh I am laughing myself tbh with how bizarre it actually sounds.

There is still slices of pizza out on the road right now so birds aren't even eating it 🙄

I feel like placing my own food waste bin outside her door with a sign explaining what the bin is for and how to use it!

I'll be on the lookout tomorrow to catch her in the act 🤞

God that’s so strange!

My old neighbour when i had a flat was a real daft softie with animals, and she once cheerily told me that she’d seen a rat by the bin storage so she’d put some of her leftover curry down for it ‘because it looked hungry’ 😂 she was so lovely (and the bins were well away from the flats) I didn’t have the heart to go off on one at her.

This made me day. I'm also so confused.
MouseOnAHedgehog · 25/02/2021 20:47

@M24L pure nosiness - what was the fall out about?

CatherineCawood · 25/02/2021 20:47

@jakeyboy1

Are they Hansel and Gretel and she's leaving a pizza trail for him to find his way home?

Grim.

Ha ha see what you did there. Grim! As in the fairy tales!
thedownpipe · 25/02/2021 20:53

What the fuck have I just read. Confused

butterry · 25/02/2021 20:55

I would message the husband and say "I don't know who your wife thinks she is feeding with your leftover pizza everyday but I've seen rats running along the side of your house. I think she better stop before we all get an infestation!" Tell him you have called Environmental Health too. Clearly he has no clue what she's doing and he can give her a telling off! She's a spiteful idiot.

RachelGreep87 · 25/02/2021 20:55

The partner is a drug dealer.
The deliveries are drop offs.

Tread carefully OP

Trinidading3 · 25/02/2021 20:57

That's totally gross, take photo log for week email to council with her name and address. She will attract rats etc. If she's trying to feed the wildlife she needs to put it in her garden for foxes etcShock

AnneElliott · 25/02/2021 20:59

Get a broom and sweep it back into her drive!

VanGoghsDog · 25/02/2021 21:01

@CallmeAngelina

"Her partner eats a takeaway pizza every night for tea,"

Every night? Shock Is he huge?

Well, he clearly doesn't eat a whole one!
8obbingabout · 25/02/2021 21:02

Thats utterly disgusting she sounds like a right animal. I wouldn't be happy at all

Stovetopespresso · 25/02/2021 21:09

hmmm in the words of Michelle Obama, "when they go low, you go high" so humbly clear it up a few times.
also ask her dh, sympathetically, daily, how she's doing etc and say how worried you've been about her.
the penny might take some time to drop, but it wiiiilll....
