Dog pissing on a wall - yay or nay?

My friend is isolating at the moment due to her colleague contracting COVID so I've been walking her Collie everyday. I'm really not a dog person, at all (though I've grown a huge soft spot for this particular pooch) so don't know the etiquette around public dog behaviour. He's been a little star, he doesn't approach other dogs or people, so maybe I've got complacent with him. Because today he pissed on somebody's brick wall - even if I wanted to stop him, what was I supposed to do, kick him in the nuts? Anyway, a woman stormed out the house and had a real go at me, saying it's disgusting people let's their dogs do that and she's sick of it. I was Confused and said I couldn't exactly stop him. She said he needs to be trained to not do it and if she catches me again she's taking a picture. I told my friend when I dropped the dog off, who just thought it was funny and has never heard of a dog being trained to not piss on a residential wall. I wondered what the MN consensus was - yay or nay to having your wall pissed on?

@Suzi888 if you let them piss on people's property then yes.

Lampzade · 27/02/2021 13:06

Sorry
I don’t want dogs pissing on my wall.
I don’t care who it offends or upsets

Racoonworld · 27/02/2021 13:11

@Lampzade

Sorry I don’t want dogs pissing on my wall. I don’t care who it offends or upsets
Same. It’s disgusting and so antisocial. Can’t believe the entitlement of some posters.

It's not going to offend or upset anyone. But your wall will be pissed on unfortunately whether you like it or not. Even if I did care I think I'd pick my battles and try to forget that one as you're never going to win anyway.
Suzi888 · 27/02/2021 17:46

@Porcupineintherough does this apply to spit, dropping wrappers and chewing gum? Hmm I think humans make more mess than dogs and I’d still take the dog pee Smile a hundred times over!

DoubleTweenQueen · 27/02/2021 17:53

YWBU, and your friend, the dog owner also U. (I am a dog owner)
Very unpleasant and unnecessary to let your dog toilet on someone else’s property/home.

Marzipanfruit · 27/02/2021 21:52

@suzi888 Spit and chewing gum are equally unhygienic and disgusting. The fact that some people have dirty habits doesn't make the selfish dog owners right either. Both are wrong!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/02/2021 09:47

Yeah, but that chewing gum could kill my dog, as could sweet wrappers, cellophane of any kind!

Him peeing isn't even going to damage your bircks!

Marzipanfruit · 28/02/2021 10:31

As I said, both are wrong. I like dogs and would have one were my circumstances different. I just don't like the attitude of some owners.

Suzi888 · 28/02/2021 11:09

@Marzipanfruit I’m not being serious, I know I can’t control spit, poo, pee, chewing gum, litter etc outside my home or anywhere else. In an ideal world it would be great if everyone cleaned up after themselves and their pets. I just think I’ll choose the things I can control to get annoyed about and dog pee thankfully isn’t one of them. Unless you put a nappy on a dog, it’s going to wee, especially if it’s a long way from front door to park. I’m not saying I’d let my dog urinate on someone’s front door.
Luckily around here everyone has a drive way and their home is quite a way from the pavements.

Macncheeseballs · 28/02/2021 11:25

So the pro dog pissers wouldn't mind a bloke doing it then?, it's just piss after all

FFSAllTheGoodOnesArereadyTaken · 28/02/2021 11:41

I think it's a bit different with a bloke - unless people can train their dogs to go in toilets and the dog could choose to go in the toilet but prefers being anti social and pissing on the pavement after drinking one too many beers

Sugarandteaandmum · 28/02/2021 14:52

Yeah no @Suzi888. Having a child is a human right. Having a pet is a personal indulgence.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 28/02/2021 14:59

Having either is very definitely a personal indulgence.

Nobody has the right to have a child!

Lancrelady80 · 28/02/2021 18:35

That's disgusting. Sounds like you were caught out by it but not at all surprised the owner was angry.

Actually, thinking more about this, was it the house wall or a garden wall? Because that makes quite a difference. Less unacceptable if a garden wall, although still not nice.

Next time, pull the dog away.

Lancrelady80 · 28/02/2021 18:40

@Ihatefish

People are really stupid, every night they have rats/micronising all over their outdoor space (probably spreading disease) birds poo everywhere, foxes poo, dead hedgehogs lie rotting under their shed. Cats peeing in the garden slugs spreading lung worm all over their garden path -but yep people hate dogs
Thing is though, no one controls wild animals like that. Noone expects anything different.

A dog should be controlled by a human, and that human isn't exactly being respectful to other people's property by allowing their animal to urinate over it. I think it's a combination of pee plus irritation at some dog owners' lack of consideration that rules people.

Lancrelady80 · 28/02/2021 18:41

riles sodding autocorrect!!!

Suzi888 · 28/02/2021 19:40

@Sugarandteaandmum

Yeah no *@Suzi888*. Having a child is a human right. Having a pet is a personal indulgence.
@Sugarandteaandmum have a word with yourself.
VinylDetective · 28/02/2021 19:49

I know. I can’t believe anyone seriously thinks that.

Sugarandteaandmum · 28/02/2021 21:26

I've had a word with myself, and checked online, and you're right, having a child per se is not a human right. Right to marry and start a family, and right to your private family life, could be stretched, I guess.

Nothing remotely about doggos however Smile

FrangipaniBlue · 03/03/2021 14:17
@pigsDOfly Ah! There's a quite famous EBT training book called When Pigs Fly. Your username made me think of it Smile
I think I need this book!!

Waves to fellow EBT owner @CuriousaboutSamphire Smile

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/03/2021 14:19

@FrangipaniBlue Hi right back Smile

Dog pissing on a wall - yay or nay?

He would say Hi, but he's sleeping off his lunchtime walk Grin

Dog pissing on a wall - yay or nay?
SleepingStandingUp · 03/03/2021 14:40

I'm not a dog owner so I can see how op,being unused to having a dog to walk might be a bit oh shit, too late about the pee. I'd be worried yanking him off would hurt him but probably wouldn't have preplanned with a bottle of rinse water.

However given its the outside of a garden wall I do this the owner was s bit ott, you really can't control the state it gets into on that side, if a car drives down and splashes middle puddle against it would you report them to the police or run screaming down the road after them? If it had been a bitch and weed on the pavement but directly outside your gate would that be ok?

DinosaurPantz · 04/03/2021 11:01

I really didn’t think this was something that bothered people this much Confused
