Dog pissing on a wall - yay or nay?

My friend is isolating at the moment due to her colleague contracting COVID so I've been walking her Collie everyday. I'm really not a dog person, at all (though I've grown a huge soft spot for this particular pooch) so don't know the etiquette around public dog behaviour. He's been a little star, he doesn't approach other dogs or people, so maybe I've got complacent with him. Because today he pissed on somebody's brick wall - even if I wanted to stop him, what was I supposed to do, kick him in the nuts? Anyway, a woman stormed out the house and had a real go at me, saying it's disgusting people let's their dogs do that and she's sick of it. I was Confused and said I couldn't exactly stop him. She said he needs to be trained to not do it and if she catches me again she's taking a picture. I told my friend when I dropped the dog off, who just thought it was funny and has never heard of a dog being trained to not piss on a residential wall. I wondered what the MN consensus was - yay or nay to having your wall pissed on?

@StoneofDestiny

Who wants urine over their house? It stinks and seeps into the brickwork. Would you like a man pissing on the wall of your house? No? Then why let a dog do it on someone's property.
What is your house made of, straw bricks? Confused Or was it made by persimmon?

You have far bigger problems than dog piss if liquid seeps into the brickwork of your house. Good luck when it next rains. Grin

I couldn't care less if a dog pees on a wall. It's when the stupid owners leave dog shit behind, that annoys me.

VinylDetective · 26/02/2021 19:43

As I said, I reckon every dog in a half mile radius has pissed up the front of our house. No stink and no seepage. This is the concern of someone whose life needs some enrichment.

StoneofDestiny · 26/02/2021 20:14

None of these. It's just my wall that I'd prefer to be free of dog piss.

No need to inflict your dog, it's piss or shit on anybody else's property.

It's never going to seep into the brickwork though. Dunno why you said that part as it won't happen.

You've probably had dogs piss on the house or walls already. Cats too, maybe even foxes. You won't have known and have managed to live there happily despite it.

CuriousSeal · 26/02/2021 21:50

Gawd. I wouldn't want the type of curtain twitching neighbours that would be bothered by this kind of thing near me to be honest. Luckily we have very kind and thoughtful neighbours that also have lives...

FFSAllTheGoodOnesArereadyTaken · 26/02/2021 21:50

I live in a built up area, it's a 20 min walk to a park. I'm not sure where they are supposed to wee then?

thenightsky · 26/02/2021 21:54

Dogs piss up walls. Rain falls and it washes off. Meh.

Marzipanfruit · 26/02/2021 22:20

Thing is the dog owners never let their dogs pee or mess at their own doors. Funny that. If you don't live near enough to a green space or have your own garden then unless you are able to train your dog properly maybe have a goldfish instead?

oblada · 26/02/2021 22:23

Uh? A lot of dog owners (most?) Have gardens where the dog goes and pees. Because a dog is a dog he will also pee on the walls of the house, on the fence, on the bushes, on the patio, on the shed etc. It is what it is. And if I had a front garden wall (I don't I have hedges) I expect my boy would pee there on the way out too... Of course I wouldn't let him piss on our actual door. Nor on other doors for that matter
Marzipanfruit · 26/02/2021 22:30

@oblada 'It is what it is'.
Then let it be what it is on your own property not somebody else's! !

SmallPrawnEnergy · 26/02/2021 22:33

After 5 minutes we reach the nature reserve. Then he is off lead and sniffing and diving left and right and following smells, diving into bushes etc.,
Time and place.
Not everyone is privileged enough to like a 5 minute walk from a nature reserve. Screams of NIMBYisim to me. It’s ok to let your dog piss all over many other animals habitats but on a boundary wall in a housing estate.. it’s the crime of the century.

Ihatefish · 26/02/2021 22:38

People are really stupid, every night they have rats/micronising all over their outdoor space (probably spreading disease) birds poo everywhere, foxes poo, dead hedgehogs lie rotting under their shed. Cats peeing in the garden slugs spreading lung worm all over their garden path -but yep people hate dogs

MuddyWalks · 26/02/2021 22:38

It does smell though and it does leave marks. You can always see it on the base of lamp posts.
It's disgusting. Dogs should not be allowed to wee on other people's property. Inconsiderate dog owners yet again.

Plus in this time of Climate Emergency, with the exception of assistance dogs, no one should be getting dogs as pets. They are an unnecessary luxury the planet cannot afford due to their high carbon paw print.

LimitIsUp · 26/02/2021 23:41

Nobody should have cats. They kill thousands of birds every year

Nobody should have kids - massive carbon footprint

Or maybe you should wind your neck in

winetime89 · 26/02/2021 23:59

I personally couldn't care less if a dog weed on my wall but I do avoid her weeing on other peoples as I'd be terrified someone might say something to me! she's a sniffer though and takes ages walking home to sniff peoples walls and gates which are covered in other dogs wee. luckily she just likes to have a good old sniff but if she tries to wee I pull her away.

isitsummertimeyet · 27/02/2021 00:11

My dog pisses on the same wall and same cars every time we do his walk.. i couldnt give a stuff, hes not harming anyone, i dont let him poo on someones pathway and pick em up anyway but wee is wee, if your gonna moan about animals defectating then you dont need to look further than filthy cats that shit in other peoples gardens and never there own..

Stoppissingonmyheather · 27/02/2021 00:28

"high carbon footprint" hahahahahahahahshahahahahaha

ellyeth · 27/02/2021 00:40

I also got told off for letting my dog wee on someone's wall. I really don't understand it and think it is ridiculous. I always pick up dog mess but wee is mostly water anyway and it's on an outside wall. I really think these days some people make a career out of complaining and judging others.

Sugarandteaandmum · 27/02/2021 07:17

if you live in a built up area which is so far to a park why have a dog? you're basically deciding when you get the dog that it's going to piss on other people's property. Nice.

I like the idea of the squirty water bottle and I always thank owners I see doing this. Our urban street has those trees in little sqaures of mud/grass between paving stones. Children love to run up, touch them etc. I always wince as a toddler is at dog wee height. Why not just rinse it off quickly? If you know it happens every single time you walk down that street and you do it every day - the streetscape is gonna get a bit minging. There are more dogs than foxes and cats don't scent mark the same way.

TheFuckingDogs · 27/02/2021 07:37

My dog pisses on car tyres all the time, personally I would find it hilarious if someone got het up about this. You’re not eating your tea off them! Same hoes for peoples walls etc - it’s wee, we live in the U.K. (generally) the rain will wash it away!

Covidcorvid · 27/02/2021 08:00

I pumped my car tyres up the other week and put the first valve cap in my mouth for safe keeping. It had an odd taste and I spat it out quickly and did think I bet a dog has pissed on that, why the fuck did I put it in my mouth! 🙈🙈😂

As someone else said, stop having kids then and start telling others to not have children. You are all only allowed one from now on. How's that? That will help the world. No more over population. You go and start telling people that, have fun.
Stoppissingonmyheather · 27/02/2021 11:01

@Covidcorvid.yes wtf did u put it in your mouth who puts valves from dirty splosh muddy oily tyres in their gob and during a PANDEMIC have you not heard of covid I see your user name is similar do you know what this means? Don't put crap in your mouth don't touch your face before sterilising your hands etc etc god I despair what did you expect it to taste of exactly? I am truly interested

Suzi888 · 27/02/2021 12:44

“if you live in a built up area which is so far to a park why have a dog”

Oh my word, it gets better. 🤣🤣🤣 This should be applied to children too.
