Anywhere but England eh? Quick, think of somewhere else. Isle of Man? Are the Faroes particularly renowned for springtime? Er... Iceland?

you already stated England ... Im telling you there ARE equally stunning Springs elsewhere ... and despite your need to insult these other places... I do not 🌺

OhGodNotThisAgain · 05/03/2021 22:05

Depends whereabouts in England. There’s some hell holes that can’t be described as lovely no matter how good the weather is

I guarantee had this thread been about Scotland or Ireland, you wouldn’t have had so many English posters piling in with ‘Oh no my country is so much BETTER’ comments, before getting all sensitive when people won’t give you a pat on the head and say ‘oh silly me, of course it is, England is just crap through and through.’

My opinion is that the rest of the UK is dramatic in winter, but England does the rest better because you see the change of seasons more. It is beautiful in a gentle and wholesome way that the other countries just aren’t. Deal with it 🙄

Maybe that's because not many think it is ....

😈

Or we’re just not brimming with nationalistic neuroses. Who knows? 🤷🏼‍♀️
PrelovedWithValue · 06/03/2021 09:58

But we aren't the ones that felt we needed to start a thread about how lovely our country is so it's probably not that 😂😂

No, there’s an entire section for that - Scotsnet.
PrelovedWithValue · 06/03/2021 10:09

Yeah, I'm sure it's full of threads like this 😂

Well it’s quite busy with the breakdown of the SNP at the moment, but give it time 😉
BillywigSting · 06/03/2021 10:17

Spring in England is lovely but not quite as lovely as spring in Ireland. It's not called the Emerald Isle for nothing. It really is extraordinarily green, especially in spring.

Summer in England is better than in Ireland though, especially in the south.

PrelovedWithValue · 06/03/2021 10:18

I love this. Too many people get so serious about this kind of conversation, and also assume the person on the other side is taking it just as seriously.

I've really enjoyed this because that hasn't happened.

So thank you!

Unfortunately it probably ends (for me) here as I have a busy day and night ahead.

Have fun!

You're very irritated. Lots of places in England are completely beautiful- I'm particularly fond of Northumberland, Devon and Cornwall, in fact just booked another holiday to Northumberland as it's so gorgeous- but I definitely couldn't say it was more 'wholesome'. I'm sure there are many beautiful, wholesome villages but cities being wholesome? I live in Glasgow and adore my city- it's stunning, cultural, warm, funny, in your face and loud- but in the same way as Liverpool, Manchester and London in no way wholesome. Drive the North Coast 500 for the most wonderful spring, see the Sands of Morar , Anstruther, Port Patrick, Sunderland...I could go on. I've not been to every place in England and Scotland, Wales, Ireland and , I imagine, neither have you so we really can't comments where's more beautiful. Why don't we settle on how amazing the world is in Spring. The crocuses in my garden are making me feel fabulous, like waking up after a long sleep. I love winter here but Spring is rather lovely too.

PS We don't all sit up here plotting to over through the English/ stroking our Nationalism, but posts like yours may strengthen the cause of those who may.

Puffalicious · 06/03/2021 11:55

Sorry, I did quote you Wondermule don't know what happened.

Puffalicious · 06/03/2021 11:56
  • Sutherland! Even auto correct us English biasedGrin.

And overthrow!

Wondermule · 06/03/2021 11:56

Because this thread is about England? Just let us have our happy little chat about pub gardens and crocuses without having a shit fit that England is being complimented. It’s clearly a rhetorical post and whiney little remarks like yours just kill the buzz.

Wondermule · 06/03/2021 11:57

No worries I guess it was for me!

England in Spring is lovely.
Scotland in Spring is lovely
Northern Ireland in spring is lovely.
Wales in Spring is lovely.

So there Grin

Christinayangtwistedsister · 06/03/2021 12:09

So the Scots have only to post on Scotsnet? You really are making an arse of yourself

Did I say that?
BidensWingWoman · 06/03/2021 13:42

Because this thread is about England?

Really? Because it looks very much like the thread is about comparing England to other places.

BidensWingWoman · 06/03/2021 13:43

Of course, I'm only basing that on the title, and the single sentence post made by the op.

I'm sure you'll tell me why I'm wrong shortly though Grin
