Salt & vinegar crisps

Aibu to feel that Salt & vinegar crisps are disgusting? I don't eat them but my DS does. The smell makes me absolutely wrench.. Smell like some toxic rancid window cleaning products. No other flavours of crisps bother me but Salt & vinegar crisps just make me feel so ill, just the smell. I need to leave the room when anyone is eating them, then I need to open windows and wipe down all door handles and furniture etc afterwards. And don't even get me started on the grease stains made by my rather messy Ds. Anyone with me on this?

This is how l feel about cheese and onion crisps.
Salt and vinegar my absolute fave of all time

foxyknoxy30 · 21/02/2021 18:01

YABVVVU but far the best flavour especially the walkers ones

Coasterfan · 21/02/2021 18:03

My absolute favourite along with pickled onion monster munch😀

MrsEmmaPeel · 21/02/2021 18:03

I do not like salt and vinegar crisps either. They stink. The same goes for prawn cocktail Skips which my partner buys unfortunately. I don't like vinegar anyway.

Hotzenplotz · 21/02/2021 18:05

Salt and vinegar crisps are the food of the gods, YABVVVVVVU.

snowone · 21/02/2021 18:05

Sorry but YABU - salt and vinegar are the BEST followed closely by pickled onion ☺️

Symbion · 21/02/2021 18:05

I adore them. However DH is incredibly sensitive to the smell of vinegar so I kind of know where you're coming from. (It makes a lot of cooking a bit tricky, it's such a useful ingredient.)

goose1964 · 21/02/2021 18:12

They're my go to when I get a sore throat, the crisps give it a good scratch nd the salt and vinegar descend the itchy pain.

Angel2702 · 21/02/2021 18:13

Sorry I think they are the best flavour, the stronger the better.

BeatricePrior · 21/02/2021 18:14

Theta the my favourite but I feel the way you do about scampi flavour.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 21/02/2021 18:17

I love salt & vinegar crisps. I used to love discos back when they were strong enough to make the inside of your lips tingle and go pink. I also like ready salted, beef, BBQ, prawn cocktail. Beefy monster munch FTW! I hate cheese & onion: they stink and taste awful.

LadyfromtheBelleEpoque · 21/02/2021 18:18

Yes - they are the food of the Gods.

The flaw lies entirely with you, OP.

There is a pecking order (subject to mood).

Pickled onion monster munch
S and V Pringles
Wotsits
Frazzles
S and V chipsticks

I could go on but now I am feeling peckish and have to pop to the garage.

I saw the thread title and thought "at last, s&v crisps getting the attention they deserve". So I'm disappointed to see that it's a crisp-flavour-bashing thread. YABVU, s&v are amazing and I'm eating some as I post.

HeronLanyon · 21/02/2021 18:23

Sometimes the vinegar is too strong for me on a normal crisp. Absolutely hate anything balsamic etc. Adore salt and vinegar sticks sometimes they are really strong no but somehow the corn kind of allows the Vinegar to sink in better.
Have to say though that cheese and onion are the very worst for smell.
Also many cheese puff type things many of which have onion powder in them.

Chunkymenrock · 21/02/2021 18:23

Retch not wrench surely? But yabvu. They are quite delicious!

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 21/02/2021 18:25

You are utterly unreasonable!!

They are the best flavour ever! The more vinegary the better
None of this balsamic though!

HeronLanyon · 21/02/2021 18:26

Wotsits
Cheetos original crunchy (us version only)
Frazzles
Salt and vinegar chipsticks
Prawn cocktail snacks - skips - every now and then.
Cheese and onion walkers.
Onion rings

WellTidy · 21/02/2021 18:26

Salt and vinegar crisps in a sandwich with white bread and butter all crunched down is my comfort food of choice. I absolutely love them like this. Wouldn’t ever choose them on their own though, don’t know why.

How do you feel about pickled onion monster munch?!

BooUrns · 21/02/2021 18:27

@Symbion

I adore them. However DH is incredibly sensitive to the smell of vinegar so I kind of know where you're coming from. (It makes a lot of cooking a bit tricky, it's such a useful ingredient.)
That’s really interesting - my DD(3) seems to be the same, if I put some on fish and chips I have to scoff them down when she’s not in the room!
maddiemookins16mum · 21/02/2021 18:29

Hate them, they make my mouth sore.

Redcherries · 21/02/2021 18:29

The smell of cheese and onion if you’re not eating them is vile. S&v has never offended me.

rosetylersbiggun · 21/02/2021 18:35

Fine OP more for meeeeeee

georgarina · 21/02/2021 18:35

Haha I mean obviously some people feel differently or they wouldn't sell them Grin I like them ... cheese and onion on the other hand are a bit ick (unless they're Pringles)

Leeds3 · 21/02/2021 18:35

I'm with you OP, salt and vinegar crisps are foul. If I eat them, I break out in a sweat on my face (apparently this delightful phenomenon is known as gustatory hyperhidrosis) Salt and vinegar crisps are the only ones that have this effect on me!

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2021 18:36

Love Salt and Vinegar crisps. Prawn Cocktail/Cheese and Onion are really stinky.
