Has anyone else gone against the grain? If so, what did you wear?

Very much open to links/suggestions for a classy (but not white/cream) wedding dress. :)

Mine was purple. It was sold as a bridesmaid's dress.

LegendDairy · 21/02/2021 16:27

Mine is black with a full tulle skirt and I'm wearing it with a leather biker jacket and docs.

StCharlotte · 21/02/2021 16:28

I chose the pattern and the fabric and had it made. It had the feel of this dress but the bodice and sleeves were dark blue lace.

Just Google green silk dress - loads come up Smile

Mine was this, without the veil. It was from Maggie Sottero. My mother's cats bum face exceeded all previous renditions.

I wore a gold floor length dress with a matching long line jacket. It was much more me than a "wedding dress" would have been

HexWitch · 21/02/2021 16:31

Mine was deep red and it was stunning.

Jemtully · 21/02/2021 16:35

Mine was mint green.

InconvenientPeg · 21/02/2021 16:36

I tried on white dresses and they did nothing for me. I never wear pale colours.

I had to have it made anyway (non standard size) so had a sky-blue silk skirt covered with gold silk organza and a blue, gold and silver brocade top. I still love it.

partyofsixteen · 21/02/2021 16:37

Mine was ivory but I wore blue trainers underneath.

SusannahSophia · 21/02/2021 16:38

Mine was gold coloured silk. I loved it!

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 21/02/2021 16:40

I wore a cheongsam which is a Chinese dress , it was bright blue . If I got married again and I'd love to wear a white wedding dress but they person I was then hated dresses . I still like the dress though .

LittleTiger007 · 21/02/2021 16:43

Mine was a retro 50s style dress in pale blue with red roses all over it, a wide red belt, red frilly petticoat, red shoes, red roses for a posy. I had so many positive comments. It suited my figure and personality to a tee.
Do what suits you.

insancerre · 21/02/2021 16:51

I got married in 1987
My dress was very similar to this
I really wanted purple but compromised and went for cerise

Mine was gold

Pbbananabagel · 21/02/2021 16:53

I wore blue and LOVED it! I had it in my head that I wanted a blue dress but tried lots of other tones inc white, ivory, champagne and blush. The blue actually suited me the best- try everything and find what works for you, then stick to your guns and screw other people’s opinions as your comfort and happiness will shine through on the day!

Raera · 21/02/2021 16:58

If you want knee length try googling wedding guest?

Married twice and never wore white or had a traditional wedding dress for either wedding. Wore champagne and gold for first and magenta for second.

I also was brunette for first and blond for second Smile

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/02/2021 17:11

I saw one years ago that was black. Looked amazing!

RaidersoftheLostAardvark · 21/02/2021 17:16

Try the Outnet - huge selection of designer dresses, knee length or floor length. I'm not even engaged but I love browsing the gowns on there!

2pinkginsplease · 21/02/2021 17:23

I didn’t want a white dress either. I went for gold silk and I loved it, it was very me! Similar to this style.

Mine was a deep rust with some cream. Second time around lilac. I'm not a big wedding person.

ZackaryQuack · 21/02/2021 17:26

Mine was navy with yellow accents (knee length with a yellow poofy petticoat) White makes me look very washed out and ill, so I went with a colour that suits me.

AlCalavicci · 21/02/2021 17:30

I got married in a full length deep red ( wine kind of colour ) dress , from Debenhams I look ill if I where white . My brides maid wore lilac

RandomMess · 21/02/2021 17:31

@CassandrasCastle

I'm a red head and wore a soft green monsoon bridesmaid dress with soft gold beading and a soft gold veil.
