Hmm

OP posts:
Annabell80 · 20/02/2021 14:43

Think it's a horrible name but they'd probably think the same about my children's names. Not my baby, not my business. They obviously like it.

Lampzade · 20/02/2021 14:44

@AledsiPad

It’s a shit name, and if Harry and Meghan had chosen it they’d be ripped apart on here.
Exactly
peak2021 · 20/02/2021 14:44

There are worse things than having a stupid name. A grandfather who at best condones someone who abuses teenage girls and young women, for a start.

Haveyouallgonequitemad · 20/02/2021 14:47

So is it pronounced August like the month or auuul gust like a gust of wind? Not that it matters particularly

Newkitchen123 · 20/02/2021 14:47

Judgemental much OP

Benjispruce2 · 20/02/2021 14:50

Bit weird. Prefer Augustus but each to their own.

Covidcorvid · 20/02/2021 14:51

90% of the baby name threads on here are judgemental.....this is no different. I can guarantee if someone had started a thread on here saying they were thinking of calling a boy August there would be a lot of people saying not fair to give a kid such an unusual name where they may get teased, etc. Maybe for this kid he won’t get teased due to his background, guess he won’t go to a school where he’s in danger of getting beaten up in the playground.

Serin · 20/02/2021 14:51

I quite like it.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 20/02/2021 14:53

Always loved it. Great name.

SnottyLottie · 20/02/2021 14:55

I like August/Augustus

But Augustus is a little bit pretentious (they can technically get away with this as they’re royal) whereas August is a bit more modern and trendy sounding (kind of like Archie instead of Archibald).

I like it in a cool, trendy hipster kind of way.

IcedPurple · 20/02/2021 14:55

Beautiful baby. His parents look shell shocked but happy. And I quite like the name. Might be a bit odd for your average little boy but he's not your average little boy.

Elderflower14 · 20/02/2021 14:55

Kid Creole's real name is August Darnell.

EugeniaGrace · 20/02/2021 14:56

I love it. All three bits. Even the Hawke.

August is the kind of name that tends to go down well on the baby name boards. Rare but with lineage, a little pretentious but Gus/Auggie is down to earth.

(Not a princess in disguise btw)

timetest · 20/02/2021 14:56

I like it. There’s something of PG Woodhouse about it, a bit Gussie Fink-
Knottleish.

Mammaaof · 20/02/2021 14:57

Beautiful name!

TheyIsMyFamily · 20/02/2021 14:58

Augustus, maybe. With Auggie as a nickname.
August, no.

jambeforeclottedcream · 20/02/2021 14:58

Is it a tendy way of calling him Augustus, I like the middle names Philip Hawke

LuluJakey1 · 20/02/2021 14:59

I quite like it - I would think he'll be Gus or Augie. Gus Brooksbank sounds good.

bevelino · 20/02/2021 15:00

I think baby August will be nicknamed Gus, which sounds a lot better.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 20/02/2021 15:00

It's also the germanic form of Augustus.

Not my choice, but then, nor are a lot of names.

And to be honest, I didn't expect to them to pick Barry or Graeme.

Anyoneelsewilldo · 20/02/2021 15:03

The August Phillip-Hawk often spotted alongside its fella hawks the Cooper-Hawk and Harris-Hawk.

Ridiculous name! What happened to giving a child a nice normal name!

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 20/02/2021 15:09

Sounds like the name of a WWI Airplane.

Wonder if their next kid will be called Sopwith?

stairway · 20/02/2021 15:19

I like it, a bit different but not silly.

TwelvePaws · 20/02/2021 15:19

He looks very cute and mum and dad look very happy. Something tells me OPs not very happy with her life. 🍑🍩

m0therofdragons · 20/02/2021 15:20

I love Hawke now - dh is grateful we’re not having any more dc as I’m not sure he’s convinced by the name Grin
