I couldn’t really deal with very mainstream names as I felt like they really held the identity of so many other people already.
I have an August and I’ve never had any negative comments in real life so was surprised to see how passionately some people feel about the name in this thread! Quite honestly don’t understand why people care so much. I’d say some people were a little surprised when they learned of the name because it’s not really common in the U.K. (by no means is it out there) but children grow into their names, don’t you think? So it might seem weird at first but actually I can’t imagine my child being anything other than August. I had other names I liked and considered but not that my child is August, and has been for a few years, I can’t imagine them as anything but now. It’s not longer just a month of the year to me.
Just my thoughts from the perspective of a mum to an August.
