To still not having anything to eat because of what someone said

We get meals made for us at work when we're on shift so the chef used to do it for us which is lovely. A few weeks after starting, I was eating and my supervisor said what have you got so I told her what I had and she said you've got too much there it was sectioned for other staff which I had absolutely no clue about! I hadn't touched it so I said fine I will put it back and she said there's no point now and I said no, you've said it now so I will put it back in the fucking kitchen. I got up and went to give it back and the chef said is there something wrong with it, I said not at all I realised that I need to leave now to pick up my little one. I never have lunch at work now and just wait until I get home and the supervisor still asks me if I'm having any lunch and I always say no. Surely by now she realised how much she has offended me? It's been months and it still gets to me.

@VinylDetective

It’s half term, isn’t it?
What's that got to do with anything, you know that the majority of pupils haven't been at school this year, right?

Or are you suggesting that a teacher is trolling MN but only has internet access in the school holidays

Seriously - what does this comment even mean?

SoupDragon · 17/02/2021 20:31

@VinylDetective

The OP has a fairly sensible posting history.
AndreaMartelsCoat · 17/02/2021 20:32

@all AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair Are you new to MN? "It's half term isn't it" is a fairly standard thing to say on MN when, you know, it's half term and the OP is just ridiculous.

Hhusky · 17/02/2021 20:37

If they were rude I can understand you being a bit annoyed but I do think your reaction is unreasonable. You swore at your manager. If it is an issue for you then I would say to bring your own lunch going forward.

No, not new @AndreaMartelsCoat just never been able to understand any kind of logic to that post other than trying to be a smart arse

Maybe you can explain, in what circumstance would anyone only be able to make stuff up on the internet in the school holidays, pupil or teacher?

MyHairNeedsASnip · 17/02/2021 20:52

There's a lot of cunty replies on here.

Of the OP has issues around food and being embarrassed about eating it's not really helpful.

Lougle · 17/02/2021 20:59

You have lots of anxiety issues so this has obviously not helped. Perhaps you need to have an adult discussion with your manager about it and clear the air.

RosieCockle · 17/02/2021 21:03

Do you think you're a contestant on RuPaul's Drag Race? If not, why are you behaving like that?

Reinventinganna · 17/02/2021 21:05

What job do you do that you are able to behave like this?

PurpleWh1teGreen · 17/02/2021 21:21

It can't be that hard to work out if you had taken a normal size portion or not.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 17/02/2021 21:31

Lots of people don't know what "normal size" portion is. Just look at any threads about it. Arguments between 1 sausage per adult portion or 4 per portion.
RootyT00t · 17/02/2021 21:34

Ooft.

Erm, no, OP. I can see why you felt embarassed but I don't think you handled this well.

gnashingsalt · 17/02/2021 21:40

reverse? surely! My SIX year old has realised that this sort of food related attention seeking gets you nowhere

SteveBrexit · 17/02/2021 21:49

that no one older than a 12 years old, and an immature one, could come up with that nonsense. What do you think it could possibly mean? Confused

hamstersarse · 17/02/2021 21:53

I do get concerned about the general mental health of people amongst us

ThenCatoJumpedOut · 17/02/2021 22:00

Gosh look at everyone piling in on OP

Hmm

Give her a break. People love to jump on someone

So maybe she was wrong, hardly a crime.

CSIblonde · 17/02/2021 22:02

You took too much of something meant to serve other people , she let you know. She's prob no idea you're still stewing about this. She obv hit a nerve so I'm assuming there is a weight or disordered eating issue behind your anger. Unless you're eating normal portions & she's making endless snarky comments there's no issue. Most people go around in their own world / bubble & what you think of as an obvious protest goes right over their head tbh. One of the life lessons I've learned is hints & 'subtle' never help. Polite assertiveness does. Google some assertiveness You Tubers.

Sparklesocks · 17/02/2021 22:13

Sorry but not eating at work isn’t going to hurt anyone but you. It’s a pointless crusade.

ghostyslovesheets · 17/02/2021 22:15

this again!

hellejuice91 · 17/02/2021 22:22

The reality is you are letting yourself go hungry for an incident that the manager probably no longer remembers.

SooMoony · 18/02/2021 06:44

So you took enough food for several people and got a bollocking for it. Then, instead of apologising, you swore at your manager and stomped off in a huff, and are still sulking about it.

I doubt anyone really cares whether you eat at work or not, unless you are drastically skinny or really fat.

CotleyMew · 18/02/2021 06:46

Seriously.

How old are you? Twelve?

Get the fuck over it and grow up.

Groovee · 18/02/2021 06:53

I'm not getting this. Why did you need to swear at her and make such a fuss? You are lucky you weren't disciplined!

JustZooming · 18/02/2021 06:56

Time to learn some manners OP if you want to be a grown up and do big grown up things like holding down a job.

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 18/02/2021 07:01

Errrrr wtf??!

You swore at your new boss?!
