Pancake day - what's the normal amount of pancakes to eat??

Having a bit of a debate. Family think 6-8 is normal. I have friends who are done after two.

How many do you typically put away??? Grin (hint: make me feel better about the fifth one I'm about to have...!)

Am talking about crepes btw.

I had one, but I’m dieting. That was my dinner too. Can’t wait for breakfast! I’d never have more than 2-3 max

bluechameleon · 16/02/2021 20:31

I had 2 savoury and 2.5 sweet. I didn't keep count of what other people ate but I suspect DS1 had similar to me, DS2 slightly less and DH more.

fairydustandpixies · 16/02/2021 20:31

🤢 none...!

amysaurus87 · 16/02/2021 20:32

It depends, crepe style easily 5 or 6 (with lemon and sugar) American style 4 with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. This would be dinner.

GreenSlide · 16/02/2021 20:32

I had two but I make big scotch pancakes and I had them with butter and golden syrup Blush

Iooselipssinkships · 16/02/2021 20:33

Two sniffs and a lick.

LadyCatStark · 16/02/2021 20:33

Always 3, which is weird as I usually like to eat thing in multiples of 2 😂 DS didn’t even finish one which is a bit weird because he usually likes them.

Frazzledbutcalm · 16/02/2021 20:34

7-8 each ... pancakes in place of tea. Filled with sugar & lemon, chocolate spread, jam, fruit, sauces, cream. Love them. We have pancake tea a few times a year to be honest, just whenever anyone fancies them 😂

TatianaBis · 16/02/2021 20:34
@TatianaBis This is ONCE a year, love!
Cuz we haven’t just had Christmas. And Easter is not round the corner.

For some people it will be an exception. But given the national stats - 60% of women on this forum, even on this thread, are potentially overweight or obese. So for them the quantities consumed will be part of a broader pattern.

WiddlinDiddlin · 16/02/2021 20:35

Throws massive pancake over @TatianaBis in the hopes she will shut up and go away

Two sniffs and a lick.
Two sniffs. Utter piggery I don’t know how you come back from that
zeitgeista · 16/02/2021 20:36

in what way does it matter? i cannot fathom the amount of boredom you are going through right now, sitting on mumsnet, googling statistics, all in order to make people feel shit by condescendingly telling us how 60% of us eat more pancakes than what you deem proper.

Grilledaubergines · 16/02/2021 20:45

I didn’t eat at Christmas and won’t at Easter. All that fun and excess. Not for me thanks!

idril · 16/02/2021 20:47

I think my son is the winner so far with 9.

I will add to the 'no wonder there is an obesity crisis" brigade that he is a very skinny teenage boy. I normally encourage him (with varying degrees of success) to fill up on high calorie but more nutritious food, but it IS pancake day!

DinosApple · 16/02/2021 20:48

DH had 3. DC had 4 each. Scotch pancake (small size).

They’d have all happily had more but I couldn’t be arsed. Usually I’d have the same, smothered in butter, but I’m feeling under par tonight so gave it a miss.

MyLittleOrangutan · 16/02/2021 20:49

We had three each for pudding .

Grace58 · 16/02/2021 20:50

I've had four; one after lunch, one after dinner, two now the kids are in bed!

Don’t need to Google. Overweight and obesity related ill health costs the NHS over £6 billion a year. DH is an NHS surgeon. They have to have supersize beds, wheelchairs, lifting equipment etc. Surgery on overweight people has specific challenges. It matters.

I’m really enjoying the comments from the pancake police. They’re making me laugh.

No. One. Gives. A. Shit about your food hang ups.

Sendingasurprise · 16/02/2021 20:51

Just one Dutch Baby each - yum!

exactly Confused
Camomila · 16/02/2021 20:54

DS1 (4) managed 3, one for breakfast and 2 for pudding after dinner - crepes with nutella and a few strawberries.

The baby just chucked his out of the highchair because it was nutella-free.

I had 2, one for breakfast and one for pudding. Might have another one if DS1 falls asleep soon.

It wouldn’t matter how big he is, no one needs to justify their child’s, or their, eating, just because someone in a wind-up pretends to be outraged and judgemental.

Fill your boots, I say!

NoJetter · 16/02/2021 20:56

I would probably have about 4 or 5 in the past but will be having 1 this year as I’m trying to lose weight at the moment.

Don’t have any. But do have a DH who regularly has to operate on obese patients.

At least someone gives a shit about surgery complications eh?
