...imagine a year ago being excited about this

Oh well

I have a midwife appointment next monday - so excited already. Maybe I'll prepare some smalltalk in advance to jazz up the conversation.

Ninkanink · 13/02/2021 18:14

I recently got properly dressed up, in all the appropriate and coordinating country attire, to go to the farm shop. I wore my naice coat to go to the post office. I get hugely excited when our veg box comes.

Same4Walls · 13/02/2021 18:15

@Toddlerteaplease

I got excited about having a smear test. What a time to be alive!
It's reassuring to know someone else wad just as excited as I was. GrinGrin
THNG5 · 13/02/2021 18:15

I'm going in to work so see my manager on Monday to discuss coming back to work (currently on maternity leave). I'm so excited. The prospect of seeing other adults again!

Coffeepot72 · 13/02/2021 18:17

I went to the Post Office last week, don’t you all wish your lives were as exciting as mine?

LimitIsUp · 13/02/2021 18:19

@murrgirl

I was pumped about going to the dentists with the kids last week. How times have changed!

I'd actually love to go to the post office but ours is now only open 12-2 each day so is inevitably absolutely jam packed the entire time it's open.
LimitIsUp · 13/02/2021 18:22

I have to drive my dd to and from work every day (she's 18 but unable to drive due to two tests cancelled in lockdown - her next test date is the end of May) - 17 miles one way, 4 times per day (there and back in the morning and there and back in the evening). I look forward to it - what can I say, it gets me out of the house

BunTooti · 13/02/2021 18:22

On Wednesday I'm going to the dental hospital, much further away than the normal dentist. I think I'm going to dye my roots the day before and wear actual jeans with a zip and a button.
And forget about the fact I have to see a dental surgeon because whatever is going on in there is too much for my dentist Confused .

LadyHawthornleyWallace · 13/02/2021 18:22

I did ASDA earlier and it was fabulous.

Georgyporky · 13/02/2021 18:26

Had the jab recently, had a good chat & laugh with the staff.

First people I've spoken to for months - apart from DH & he doesn't count, or say much.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 18:35

DH found a list of 'Food Awareness Days' and we've been having themed meals.

That surely merits a thread of its own with a link.

@Hahaha88, we’re having Cantonese roast duck, pork potsticker dumplings, steamed buns, rice, sesame salmon stir fry with multiple vegetables and cashew nuts, deep fried chicken wings and edamame with chilliest and garlic. We’ll be eating the leftovers for the first half of next week!*

Did you cook all of these dishes from scratch?? I'm super impressed! Sounds soooo delicious[/quote]
Full disclosure, I bought the dumplings and the chicken and just have to heat them up. The rest of it is cooked from scratch. When else am I going to find the time to stand pointing a hairdryer at a duck for hours? I used to have a life, and I hope to have one again.

NatMoz · 13/02/2021 18:41

I am going to pick up a book from the library on Monday. Can't wait 😅

always2ndbest · 13/02/2021 18:42

I had a week off work last week, had annual leave that needed using up and the highlight of that week off was.....

Having my smear Confused

Toorapid · 13/02/2021 19:11

I've saved the ironing so there's something to do tomorrow Grin

AtleastitsnotMonday · 13/02/2021 19:14

Not an actual leave the house adventure, but I did see putting my toothbrush on to charge an event worthy of texting my sister about!

mootymoo · 13/02/2021 19:18

We treated ourselves to a trip to the large Asda last week, strictly speaking a bit naughty as theres supermarkets in our town but they are small and don't have a fresh sushi bar! It was so exciting, it's bizarre even thinking like that but I spent nearly £200, most of which I can't buy here

RB68 · 13/02/2021 19:31

We did a work visit to a new office site (potential) and spoke to 3 people! We then had to go to our storage unit and drag some stuff out to photograph . Then this morning I went to the market (open for food stalls, plants and pet shops) was flippin cold but enjoyed a good fruit and veg and bakery buy then a visit to the butchers and Boots - was going to stetch to WHSmiths but it was way too busy so walked in and straight out again - not a great store as its over crowded anyway they had no precautions or signage in place so I thought not worth it. I do need to do a tip run so that is coming up next week huzzah. But prior to all that I hadnt been anywhere for 6 weeks as had to do a care stint at my Dads so I went a bit wild when I came back as will need to iso again to do another stint after his heart surgery

LindainLockdown · 13/02/2021 19:34

I went to Tesco and Wilko today, best day of February so far.

LegendDairy · 13/02/2021 19:51

My local lidl has had mini refit. They've moved the fridges all around and the bred is now on the left and theyve got new overhead freezers above the ice cream. Everything has been moved around and its like shopping in a whole new shop.

ssd · 13/02/2021 20:02

An update...I went to tesco and picked up a takeaway, first we've had in ages

I feel like I've had an actual weekend now Grin

So jealous. I think l might be the only person here not getting a special meal tomorrow. As l get older the lack of romance is bothering me more.

zukiecat · 13/02/2021 20:09

I'm going for a CT Scan on Friday, can't wait to see different people and chat with them.

Other than that, the weekly shop is a big occasion now for DD and me.

Can you make one yourself - is there something you hanker for which you wouldn't normally have?
