Better get NATO to run it, or it will be assumed to be partisan.

(Always assuming there is a single country in the world that Trump has not either screwed up or offended and whose representatives would not therefore find against him if they could.)

Well good to luck finding a neutral country Grin Wink

Well that was extraordinary.

I've just watched the Panorama about anti-vax videos and disinformation. Most of it was very much as expected: some people on passionate anti-vax, it's-all-fake marches; others a bit hesitant and being pushed one way then the next by the anti-vax vid and then a doctor they trusted. All the initially hesitant people have now either already had the vaccine, or are more inclined to have it. Not too surprising.

BUT.

At the end, two of the others had also been vaccinated – at least one of whom had been so vehemently anti the Covid vaccination she'd gone to demos about it. IIRC both said they'd made the decision because they were caring for other people, and didn't want to pass Covid on.

I wonder if it was only that – because surely that's something she knew about at the time she was attending the demo? Or whether there was some effect just in being listened to by a reporter, that in her case changed things for her? Or peer example (but not overt pressure)? Or... something?

I do find it ridiculous that Trump and his allies whine that investigation into election fraud is "politically motivated", when surely nothing can be MORE political than trying to overturn an election

Lweji · 16/02/2021 10:30

Worse when they called out "election fraud" first.
And even worse when they tried to actually commit fraud, by changing the results.
Beware of projection. You may end up charged with what you accused others of.

How refreshing is this...POTUS Biden's schedule today and what a busy one.

So different to trump's ...the president has a lot of meetings and a lot of phone calls'

I hope he does take steps to get rid. Or at least persuade De Joy that he might like to spend more time with his family...

Looking forward to seeing Biden throw miniature snow shovels at a crowd when he visits snow storm hit Texas in a few days (or weeks).
Except, that won't happen. Smile

Apologies if this has already been posted, but an excellent (if heartbreaking) article about people whose parents have fallen down the QAnon (and other conspiracy theories) rabbit hole. And it’s not just America, I see similar patterns over here (particularly Brexit but not only).

Whatever happened to the Moonies ?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 16/02/2021 15:41

Well, this looks like good news to me! From CNN.
Capitol Lawsuit brought by Rep. Bennie Thompson

"Former President Donald Trump and attorney Rudy Giuliani are being accused of conspiring with the far-right groups Proud Boys and Oath Keepers to incite the January 6 insurrection in a civil lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court by the Democratic chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee that cites a post-Civil War law designed to combat violence and intimidation by the Ku Klux Klan."
"The lawsuit, filed by Mississippi Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson in his personal capacity, is the first civil action filed against the former President related to the attack at the US Capitol and comes days after the Senate acquitted Trump in his impeachment trial."

US federal conspiracy laws are very ... accommodating.

@EveryoneRevealsThemselves
I did post that and we did discuss it quite a lot a while back BUT it is worth repeating for those posters who haven't seen it

I found it so very sad. My DD sent it to me

DGR When I was a teen (a squillion years ago) it was Hare Krishna. They were literally everywhere trying to recruit. I did buy a bell and wear round my neck as a hippy Hare Krishna thing, but thank goodness, it went no further!

I don't recall Hare Krishna being a cult as such ? Annoying, yes. But not really a threat. Whereas the Moonies were very much warned against in the press (as I recall, growing up).

I remember my DM being quite pleased when George Harrison bought and donated Bhaktivedanta Manor to the Krishna movement. Mainly because it really upset the local Tories. We lived in Harrow, and it wasn't uncommon to see a parade of the Krishnas in town Saturday afternoon.

Apologies @Roussette

Cults have always been around but would anyone have thought we’d see them swallowing millions of people in the 21st century?!!

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/feb/16/adam-kinzinger-family-condemns-republican-criticized-trump

'Family disagreements over US politics proliferated under four years of Donald Trump, with Facebook and other social media providing an accelerant for acrimony.

But relatives of Adam Kinzinger, the Illinois representative who is one of Trump’s rare Republican critics, have taken their beef with the congressman into the public square, in an open letter published on Monday by the New York Times.

Kinzinger, a centrist Republican whose ambitions could extend beyond the conservative district he serves, called for Trump to be removed from office after a mob of his supporters attacked the Capitol on 6 January.

Days later, nearly a dozen cousins and extended relatives in Illinois sent a blistering, handwritten, two-page letter to state Republican officials and to Kinzinger’s father.

“Oh my, what a disappointment you are to us and to God!” said the letter, addressed to Kinzinger, the word “disappointment” underlined three times and “God” underlined once, according to the version published by the Times. “You go against your Christian principles and join the ‘devil’s army’ (Democrats and the fake news media).”'

Why not ? They did in the past "religion" and "cult" are only spelled differently - they both require you to give up your critical faculties for an easy life.
DGRossetti · 16/02/2021 16:24

So a dozen cousins and extended relations couldn't work out how to print a document ?

Please tell me it was written in crayon.

Printers and computers are the devil's work.
They are either the child of well known demon Gates and his 5G chips, or are the original sin apple.
And who knows what gobblins make printers work.
