Raskin is speaking from the heart. Bot prepared. He is clearly a very well read person. I would like to have been in one of his classes. Interesting and informative.

Here we go with the vote

DuncinToffee · 13/02/2021 20:36

The Senate is now voting on the Article of Impeachment.

'If this ⁦*@nytimes* story is right, and the House dropped the witness demand because the Republicans in Senate threatened to block all nominees and legislation, that just underscores how scared Republicans have been of Americans learning the truth. Outrageous behavior.'

'Senate Republicans apparently threatened to use the filibuster to stop all other senate business including COVID19 relief for desperate American families if this trial were to continue and hear witnesses. Never before has the GOP stooped so low to defend Donald Trump.'

Meanwhile

WSJ scoop: New York prosecutors are investigating financial dealings around some of Trump’s signature Manhattan properties, extending the known range of the criminal probe of the former president and his company. @coryramey @EmilyGlazer

It's going as expected. Sad

lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:42

Burr says guilty.

lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:42

Cassidy and Collins too.

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 13/02/2021 20:42

They're voting now. Trump needs 34 not guilty to be acquitted apparently.

minou123 · 13/02/2021 20:43

Here we go

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 13/02/2021 20:43

14 so far

OrangeBlossomsinthesun · 13/02/2021 20:44

They're going to acquit

minou123 · 13/02/2021 20:45

Lindsey Graham not guilty

TheABC · 13/02/2021 20:45

I am getting the distinct impression that Trump's acquittal is not the end of this matter, but merely the beginning. GOP did not want witnesses on-record. I hope the FBI are taking notes.

lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:46

Poor, poor America.

lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:47

Murkowski votes guilty.

pointythings · 13/02/2021 20:48

We knew they were going to acquit. But there's a strong historical record now of what matters to Senate Republicans, and that may well bite them in the mid-terms. Meanwhile Biden can get on with the business of governing the country, and the law can get on with handling Trump the civilian.

lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:48

Sasse.

DuncinToffee · 13/02/2021 20:49

WASHINGTON (AP) — Enough senators have cast 'not guilty' votes to acquit Donald Trump of impeachment charge, incitement of insurrection.

minou123 · 13/02/2021 20:49

Sasse guilty

ludothedog · 13/02/2021 20:49

You are right. The Republicans have been shown for who they are. The investigations will go on and as more information comes out they will be shown for the corrupt and self interested low lifestyle that they are. Trump will always be the twice bi-partisanly impeached ex president. History will not look on them kindly.
lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:49

Toomey votes guilty.

lionheart · 13/02/2021 20:50

57: 43

67 needed.

Roussette · 13/02/2021 20:52

Sad sad day. But it was a majority. Just not enough.
