I'm just catching up on the latest from the impeachment trial on here and from what I've read, I believe the Democrats would not want to risk blocking the work of the House by spinning this out with arguments over witnesses, and subpoenas, given that the result is a foregone conclusion. As a couple of people have mentioned earlier in the thread, I think, this impeachment has not had the intention of getting the GOP to vote agains their own interests by finding Trump guilty, but the House Impeachment Managers clearly wanted to show the world exactly what Trump and his minions had done. Even if I were a die-hard Republican, having seen those videos, there is no way I would re-elect a GOP representative who had voted that Trump was not guilty, as that person would be clearly demonstrating they had no respect for their electorate, nor for democracy, but just for themselves.
