Anyone with a super king size bed? Or a "TV / media bed"?

Hi all, just about to change our existing double bed for a super king size TV bed. Couple of questions.
Anyone have trouble getting sheets /duvet covers for the super king size? Just had a quick look and it looks like you can't get as much choice for this size of bed - any tips for shops?
Secondly, anyone have a TV bed (tv and speakers etc built into the footboard which raises with a remote control and assorted media options). Any problems with them and did you find that you actually used it or was it a gimmick that you regret?

Thanks all.

We also have a super king and don’t have issues with buying bedding, ours is all white, so that may make it easier. I guess in some patterns it could be limiting.

We have a superking size bed, please make sure the bed frame will fit up the stairs (or which ever room it's going to) I speak from experience here, DH ordered, it didn't fit and had to go back, we lost out financially (DH was cross, but hadn't bothered measuring... don't get me started).
Lots of shops that stock bedding don't have stuff in superking size (or maybe I've been to the wrong shops), but online there's plenty, just depends if you like to look at/feel stuff before you buy!
And changing the duvet cover is a pain, my arms never seem to be long enough!! I totally like the idea upthread of separate double duvets, that's fab advice!

Super King size bed
For fitted sheets if the sides are deep you need to get fitted bed sheets that are 40 cm deep otherwise the standard size 30cm onesthey will ping off when you move as they just aren’t deep enough to stay on properly

I have an sk bed. Currently using some really warm brushed cotton bedding that I got in The Range! It can be more tricky to get hold of the right size and it does cost more, so I usually buy in the sales. Changing the duvet covet is a 2 person job though!

There is a bit less choice of bedding for super-kings but it's worth it! I only wish I'd bought it when my kids were young, would have had a lot more sleep Grin

Love, love love our super king size bed.
We got our sheets from Marks and Spencer. Nice deep fitted sheets. We got a duvet cover from M&S and one from Seasalt - super comfy and irons lovely.

you dont have as much choice of bedding, but how many sets do you actually need? You can still get nice sets. TK maxx often has them and la redoute and various other places.

If you have the space for a superking then theyre lovely

I love my SK bed, but I can't share it - have to sleep alone & DH has his own K size bed Grin. Really difficult if we go away together ....

Changing the duvet covet is a 2 person job though!

We don’t have a problem with this to be honest ans we use a big feather filled quilt. so I think it maybe depends on fitness levels or if you’re doing it wrong, if that’s possible.

I absolutely love my SK size bed and wouldn't ever want to downsize now. We usually get our bedding from John Lewis, but I think it's available pretty much everywhere that sells bedding.

I have a super king bed - all to myself!

It’s brilliant. I’ve had no trouble getting bedding for it at all.

WeAllHaveWings · 09/02/2021 14:58

Super king beds are brilliant, they do take up an lot of room though and make your bedroom look small, but practically make up for it.

Great when kids are young and come in for a cuddle, brilliant on hot nights when you want extra space, or when menopausal and having hot flashes.

If your current bed is a double you'll also get extra length which is great if you are tall.

We've never had problems getting covers.

Personally I wouldn't bother with the TV, sounds like a gimmick that is likely to break and cost a fortune to get fixed.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 09/02/2021 14:58

I can change the duvet cover on my own relatively easily. Hanging it over the bannisters (if you’ve got a long straight bit of bannister) is the key.

DinosaurDiana · 09/02/2021 14:59

I don’t have a tv in my bedroom, bedrooms are for sleep and sex only 😉
But I do have a super king bed and would never sleep in anything smaller now ! And I’ve never had any problems getting bedding for it.

A SK bed with separate double duvets is an absolute gamechanger. Fitted sheets mainly from TK Maxx, duvet covers / pillow cases from anywhere.

But yes completely agree that it ruins you for sleeping anywhere else - a standard double is a nightmare scenario now!

Wouldn't bother with the tv bit though.
