Anyone with a super king size bed? Or a "TV / media bed"?

Hi all, just about to change our existing double bed for a super king size TV bed. Couple of questions.
Anyone have trouble getting sheets /duvet covers for the super king size? Just had a quick look and it looks like you can't get as much choice for this size of bed - any tips for shops?
Secondly, anyone have a TV bed (tv and speakers etc built into the footboard which raises with a remote control and assorted media options). Any problems with them and did you find that you actually used it or was it a gimmick that you regret?

Thanks all.

I haven’t got a TV in my bed (would love that though!) have a super king and never have trouble with bedding. Sometimes it goes out of stock a bit faster but I’ve never found a place that doesn’t stock it.

We have a super king size bed. There is probably a bit less choice in duvet covers etc as some only go up to a king size. I have my duvet covers from Next, Matalan and even Asda (Christmas ones). My sheets are from Next and Sainsbury’s.

Changing the duvet cover is a huge pain in the arse as the duvet is so big 🤣

We’ve got a super king bed and no issues getting bedding; think we got ours from a collection of Asda and Sainsbury’s. Although I have found that we normally need to order it online as it’s not often on the shop shelves.

Somanysplitends · 09/02/2021 12:28

We have a super king but have two double duvets, DH prefers a thicker duvet to me and it's ace never having anyone stealing the covers Grin

Middle123 · 09/02/2021 12:29

Ok, I have a super king size bed & don't have trouble getting bedding for it. Some shops don't sell it, but the majority of them do.

TV bed, yes our daughter has one in her room (she's 20). She uses it often so really not a gimmick at all. I suppose you should base that decision on how often you watch TV in your bed usually. If you don't watch TV in your room often, it's probably pointless purchasing one.

Also We stayed in a hotel where the tv was in the bed and the only thing I found is that it meant that the tv was closer than I would have liked really but it depends how far away from the tv you like to sit and how big a tv you go for

FrankskinnerscRoc · 09/02/2021 12:30

I have a SK, but not the one with TV as I didn’t think the quality of it would be up to much. I’ve always got the fitted sheets from Dunelm, although the flat sheets are absolutely massive. The fitted sheets from Lidl were OK too, but a bit big.

I’ve got a super king tv bed. We bought it about 8 years ago-the bed itself still looks really good. The tv is only watched when we’re ill so it is a bit wasted on us. Unfortunately the mechanism for getting the tv up and down, jammed a few years ago and the tv has been permanently up since. I’m sure we could’ve had it fixed but we just haven’t got round to it.
No problem at all getting bedding and I don’t find it difficult to change the sheets now I’m used to the size. Took a few weeks to get the hang of it though!

I’m afraid that sounds bizarre and crass.

To use a word that is probably passé, the whole idea is naff.

We have a super king (Ikea Malm, biggest size) and get bedding from either Ikea or off Brand Alley on line.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 09/02/2021 12:45

No problem getting bedding. Can get a set for £20 in asda. I love their brushed cotton stuff.

Then don't click on the thread. Simple.

We have a bed with a TV in the footboard. It's not fancy with separate speakers and we don't put the TV up and down as to do so, you can't have the fire stick plugged in as it catches so the TV is in show all of the time. I love it though, its the only way we could have a TV in the bedroom with how the layout of the built in wardrobes are and I like that all of the wires are hidden under the bed.

TheSunIsStillShining · 09/02/2021 12:55

sheets from amazon and/or ikea.
we have single duvets, so cover is not an issue.

Katiepoes · 09/02/2021 12:55

I also have the Ikea Malm, we have lovely bedding from Wallace Cotton, bought directly online.

JurassicShay · 09/02/2021 12:57

I have a super king size bed, get the sheets from Amazon or Asda & we have our own double duvets (me & ds as we still co-sleep)

GarlicMonkey · 09/02/2021 12:58

LOVE my TV bed. No regrets after 5 years & I'll be getting another when it needs replacing.

The word passé is soooo passé. It's passed off.
JemimaTiggywinkle · 09/02/2021 13:02

Love my super king bed.

Bedding hasn’t been a problem, but the choice of bed frames was quite limited. Went for IKEA Hemnes and very happy with it.

QueenPaw · 09/02/2021 13:03

I love my SK bed. Bedding usually from la redoute (they do great patterned fitted sheets) or TK maxx

Toiletrollbuyer · 09/02/2021 13:07

We’ve got a super king size. No problem getting bedding. Dunelm, asda, sainsburys and marks and Spencer’s always have loads in stock.

Mylittlesandwich · 09/02/2021 13:09

We have a king and when the time comes I will replace with a super king. I've slept in a bed with a built in tv and I found it to be a little too close for my liking. Also can you replace the tv if it stops working?

Makingnumber2 · 09/02/2021 13:12

We've got a superking and I love it. No real issue getting bedding- maybe slightly less choice, but lots of our bedding is from supermarket ranges.
